I don't understand.....I don't understand the state of the few soaps left. I don't understand that those in charge of the few soaps left tell us that our tastes have changed so the soaps had to change. But here I am watching episodes from the 1970s and 80s. The writing, the storylines, the characters were so interesting that I couldn't stop watching.
All of the Peyton Place episodes are on YT. Witha you g Ryan O'NEAL and Mia Farro a d the beauty Barbara Parkins. It is great. I have binge watched it all a couple of times
I totally agree with you. But the problem with the few soaps left, are the actors they hire. They don’t make you believe the storylines. It’s almost as if none of them have ever been in a play or anything. I also find it hard to believe, that the Agnes Nixon’s and William Bell’s of the soap world, did not mentor anyone that could keep soaps thriving.
tell me about it......I watched them from 1984 to 1995...I quite watching in 1995...never saw any of the 70s or early 80s....I feel like I'll never see them other than snippets like this here and there...
Truly a gem of an episode. Gerald Anthony, Pat Nolen, Erika Slezak, Lillian Hayman, Ellen Holly, Clint Ritchie, Robert S. Woods, Jacqueline Courtney, Al Freeman Jr. What a cast in a single episode.
This is such a treasure! Ellen Holly, Lillian Hayman, Sally Gracie and Al Freeman, Jr. (as subtle as it was, you really sensed Ed's sense of betrayal by Marco -- he really liked him as Mario). Such good stuff here! And I really DO think Robert S. Woods and Jacquie Courtney (Bo and Pat) had great chemistry together. After all Pat went through (the death of her son, her disastrous marriage to Adam Brewster, her crazy sister Maggie, etc.), Bo was just what she needed.
I remember my father wasn’t interested in soaps until he saw the character of “Asa”. It was years later before I realized that Philip Carey played in numerous westerns when my father was a young man. My dad loved Westerns and that’s why my dad loved watching him on “One Life to Live”📺
One Life to Live ranked 3rd out of the 13 daytime soaps that week, averaging a 9.2 household rating and a 34 percent audience share. All My Children was #2 that week with a 9.4 rating and a 36 share, and General Hospital was #1 that week with a 10.4 rating and a 37 share.
I love the surrogate family at Ina's: Ina, Kat, Ed and Karen, with all their close friends and associates dropping by. You could have written a soap opera just around that dynamic. Does anyone else know who lived at Ina's Boarding House?
Just finished the episode. Wow, nobody could make you feel more sorry for Karen than Judith Light in the role. She literally made me cry in that scene opposite Nancy Snyder as Katrina Karr. So many "real" characters during this time on "ONE LIFE"... and though I enjoyed the rest of the decade, nothing ever compared to '78 to '82 - it was all written and acted and directed so well. Thank you again!
@@erikandrus4387 You're so right about that. There could have been a soap based on Ina's boarding house. I was lucky enough to meet Judith on three different occasions and even had my picture taken with her. This was back in the early 80s at fan club gatherings in New York City.
Faith Kipling lived there for awhile, earlier in 1980, when she and Ivan broke up, which was awkward. Brad stayed there after he got out of jail in Aug 1977--he took Melinda's old room. The Boarding House was introduced when Becky came to town in 1977---those scenes are on audio. Favorite Boarding House memory: April 1979, When Ed and Karen sat at the piano, he'd play jazz, and then they'd sit at the piano bench and talk about life----those were magnificent extended scenes, which I believe earned Al Freeman Jr. his Emmy.
Wow I've never seen bo so young. Hes adorable & check out his hard core Texan accent. I'm guessing he put that on b/c it was totally gone in scenes on yt I saw a few years later.
Bo just got Philly-Whipped. They was tryna play up the Dallas craze when they introduced the Buchannans. Personally I thought it was a great marketing ploy. Especially since the following month of October it was revealed Who Shot JR aka OLTL JR Clone Asa Buchannan!🤣🤣🤣
Pat and Bo were supposed to be a couple, but (according to the actor that played Bo) the actress that played Pat was “one of the meanest actresses that he’d ever worked with.”

Hello.......I have posted all episodes of soaps that I have. Unfortunately, I have no others. The dates are on the titles and this was WPVI-TV Philadelphia. Thanks.
Glad I could bring it to you. And the quality is excellent for a VHS tape that is over 40 years old !! Wish we could find others who want to convert their old videotapes to digital.
OMG ... Edwina!! When I watched this as a teenager I was obsessed with her. Remember she used to wear Bo Derek braids I'm her hair? And Karen! The most hysterical soap character ever! What a time capsule
What year was the storyline where Pat was kidnapped by her evil twin, and her taking over her life as a TV talk show host? Ohhhh, 1980, I graduated from Grammar school first year of HS, New Teen Titans #1 premiered
One of my earliest memories was watching Pat held captive by her evil twin in the basement. Used to watch with our housekeeper it took her 3 hours to fold the clothes because that's how long OLTL/GH/AMC was on each day 😂. Wish someone had those episodes
Funny Larry being this hard on Karen and yet ot will take him another 8 years before he tells Viki that she gave birth to a child in HS and then another few years before he tells her that he knew Dorian sealed Victors death information.
I think the older woman was Carla's mom, Sadie as I recall. Sadie was the head of housekeeping at Llanview Hospital. OLTL was one of my mother's favorites, it was always on when I got home from HS. Takes me back to those days.

My mom’s favorite show for 30+ years. Something very primal, very human, very timeless about these old daytime soaps.
I enjoyed seeing the old cast together. My Mom love this soap opera.
My mom loved the soap operas on CBS. As the world turns and the guiding light were her favorites. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

Oh the beautiful sets back then.
Real interesting how Bo's Texas accent is very heavy in 1980, but by 2012 when the show ended he had a Philly Cheesesteak swag! LMAO!!!
It's such a bad southern accent. Thank God he stopped.
It was fake
Thank you so much! Never thought I would see Pat and Bo in Paris, always a pleasure to see more Carla, Karen, Katrina, everyone.
So glad you enjoyed the show. I just wish we could find more !!!
I love Kat, one of my favorite people in Llanview. And Michael Storm was right about Ellen Holley (Carla), one of the most beautiful women in daytime.

Yes, I thought they had great chemistry also. I just wish we could find more episodes from that time.
What an ensemble! Like theatre with three cameras. Daytime soaps are nothing today as it was. 📺🎭
Nice to see these older episodes. Thank you for uploading!

This was the best ABC soap opera it never got the credit it deserved evetyone was All my children & General Hospital.
How on earth did Bo lose his accent? Love these old episodes.
I was like Bo had an accent? LOL
That opening music was quintessential soap opera theme music.
Nice to see Sadie.
Judith Light was acting on a whole other level even back then.
Do you remember when she was on the stand testifying how raw and emotional she was? I will never forget that episode. I’m going to look for it now.
The glory days of soaps, it was character driven with great stories that kept audiences engaged.
Judith 🥰🥰🥰🥰 thanks I love seeing her in this 🥰♥️
Lol Bo’s accent!! 😂
I loved Bo's fake accent so adorable.
Every woman on this show fell in love with Bo and he got married like 50 times 😂😂
never seen this before!!!!!many thanks

WPVI before it became an ABC owned-and-operated station. So it was carrying Merv! At 4:00 instead of ABC’s The Edge of Night.
WKBS 48 carried “Edge of Night” in 1980. Very strange.
48:17. Parkay Margarine Commercial with Western Guy-Big Pound Bowls (1977)
YESSS!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
I thought the opening with the birds over the sky had started airing at this point. When did that premier?
Towards the end of the year. December 1980 I believe.
Bob! Sooo cute 🥰

omg is that Skinny Edie McClurg in that commercial? @48:52?

Too bad no Maggie Ashley. She was a hoot.

Wow, Bo had an accident?
They recast Vinnie? Neither actor looked like they could be Larry's brother.

Dr. Craig trippin. Marco should NEVER be allowed to study medicine. We know in the real world this would never happen.
HOLY COWS!!!!
This channel is called ForYourViewingPleasure so I might as well admit that when I watched this, Edwina got my you know what very h a r d.
I was never a Bo and Pat fan
Haha. That's cool. Might be kind of interesting, though, to see the one scene that was actually filmed on location in Paris.
??? Who is the African American woman???
Carla if I remember correctly she was married to Ed. The older woman was either Ed or Carlas mother.
