I thought they were very nice looking cars when they were new. I wish Saab/Subaru had been able to put the ignition switch in-between the seats and done a little more cosmetic work on the rear.

Love the Title "Hidden Subaru" and the video David, When I worked in a used car purchasing office I would always search statewide inventory for these hidden gems to utilize my employee purchases. The dealer I worked for appraised Saab's quite low, because of the fact that they were no longer in production and relatively high maintenance costs.

It's funny that you should post this today.. Just yesterday I was explaining to my mom that wagons, The CTS-V, the AMG, the possible Golf-R Wagon, and many others could be awesome cars for both performance and practicality. She wasn't going for it. "Yeah, but it's still a station wagon", she said. I showed her this video, and told her "to not hate on wagons", but she didn't go for it. She did get a good laugh though!

Thanks David for sharing that Car Gem information. When I really badly wanted Turbo Boxer in my life I found out about this little gem of Saaburu's but they are really rare. So I ended up with a Legacy Gt. Unfortunately Saab owners can't ever get out of the cliche of being complete Snobs. Apparently Snaab92x forum got together in a *very* small circle and trashed talked your review instead of being helpful fellow car guys. Anyways, there is some really awesome hidden gems in the auto industry especially with luxury amenities. Like sleeper turbo Volvos and supercharged Buick grandpa cars. Cars are just so exciting!

As the proud and informed owner of a 2002 WRX wagon, I have a few gripes. 1. Neither of these cars have blow off valves, they have bypass valves. That's why you don't hear one in this Saab, cause you won't hear it in the WRX either. 2. The TD-04 turbo is about 1.75x larger than you mimed it to be and is about as ideal as it gets for these engines. 3. The front fascia swap onto a WRX is not called a Saabaru. The 92x you're driving is what the majority call the Saabaru, because its a Subaru with Saab badges and a different front fascia. 4. There's no difference in sound between a 92x and a WRX that are tuned identically, because they have identical powertrains. 5. Putting HIDs in fog lights is a DICK move. Just an inconsiderate dick thing to do because they're not designed to accept HIDs. Other than that, props for installing the STi steering rack. Was this filmed in Richmond Indiana or Richmond Virginia? If you're in Virginia, youre show needs to test drive my 2002 WRX wagon that is also stage 2 but its an automatic. Before anyone talks shit about my automatic, they're stronger than the manual transmissions these cars came with and I have a prosthetic left so no more clutch pedals for me.

It's cool, and I wish it had been available in the UK because I would definitely own one. But, sorry, it's not really a proper Saab. MAEguy How do you like yours? My friend has one, in red which I think looks much better than silver(no offense), with a vf48 and a 2.5 "hybrid" with a low mileage 4eat and a pro tune, it makes some nice power. I have debated about getting one in the future but my focus ST is almost as practical, just no awd.

    • @DCGarage
      @DCGarage 9 років тому

***** So far it's my favorite car that I've owned but it has been the biggest problem child of them all. I think they look fantastic in red but I wanted silver or black because red cars are a bit too flashy for my taste. Mine got a brand new 205 (I debated a hybrid build but I went with the 205 because I didn't want to make a huge change to a car I barely knew yet) and brand new TD04 (I wanted to go with a VF39 but I couldn't find one locally and the TD was in absolutely perfect like-new condition and a good price). The Focus ST is a pretty cool car though, if you don't need AWD where you live, I would just keep it. Personally I would take the Saabaru over an ST but that's mostly just because I really like having weird ass cars that nobody knows about lol

Dude, you need to drive a Saab 9-3 Arc with the 2.8V6 turbo. If possible, find someone with the XWD (AWD) and a manual paired to the 2.8T. Heck, even a well sorted 9-5 Aero roars like a lion when you step on it. You will really be surprised as to how good these cars drive, despite all the crap GM put them through. Highly underrated cars I must say.

It does NOT have the Sti steering rack! The 2005 92x Aero just got the 06 WRX steering rack a year early. The gearing is similar to the Sti rack so it was a common misconception at the time of release.

Subaru asked saab to product and upgrade a saab badged imprezza because saab had a better reputation and build quality.
Just check on wikipedia before saying bullshit.

Pierre Colombo Your both dipshits GM owned 100% of Saab at the time and also owned 25% of subaru/Fuji. saab was on a downward spiral until they sold 100% of the company to GM GM later sold their 25% to Toyota that would later on develop the FRS/BRZ. you better double-check the bullshit that comes out of your mouth

I feel like I should get some credit here- I posted a picture of my car a while ago inquiring about reviewing it and I couldn't even get a simple response and now you just go and review this guys car instead. I have this exact same car. Every option is the same. I went to Dallas, TX (6 hours from my house) to get it.

If he didn't want a wagon, I'd recommend Daniel to get the Volvo s40. Shouldn't be hard to find one in the surrounding states with a stick-shift and a sunroof. The sound is so much better than the 92x

haha before the Saabaru I had a V70R. Check it out on my channel. I loved the turbo 5 pot and the interior was sublime, but the Saabaru is easier to keep up with and modify, cheaper to run, faster, etc. I've also always loved that sexy boxer sound! I still have a Volvo 240 with the M47 5 speed manual tranny!

Hey David, have you ever been to one of VIRs charity lap events? It's something fairly close to you I thought you might be interested in. If you don't know, they have a couple of days every year where you show up, pay $25, and then get 15-20 minutes behind the pace car at, uh *cough cough* "Highway speeds". (You get professional drivers in a pace car on a racetrack, what do you expect?) There's no overtaking, but it's a great experience and it's really cheap considering.

Drive a Saab 9-3 Aero. Good tires and left foot braking makes them go around corners so fast it doesn't make sense.

  • @meissnerflux

Great review. This is making me seriously consider this car, because I used to own a 03 impreza (naturally aspirated ) wagon, and it was just too unrefined , too slow, loud and floaty. But it had some soul of quality and balance... So im hoping the 92x Saab is everything the impreza and wrx should be .
Currently in a 07 Legacy wagon but even with Koni shocks it is uncomfortable and not a "drivers car" in my opinion.
