A friend of mine just came out of the Marines with his TS clearance and got a 6-figure salary job in IT. He also did his bachelor's while enlisted and did an IT job as his MOS. Choosing the right MOS is the key.

If you're going into the forces, get a transferable skill. This is so important. You need to have something to offer a civilian employer. There are very few lifers in the forces now. Absolutely forget combat infantry roles. You're the bottom rung at the will of the politicians, when they decide to go and take someones oil.

This is related to the promotion system(not all ranks), nowdays awards accrue to points towards promotion. So people chase them. The military hands them more too. Awards used to be more about V and C, Valor and Combat. Don't blame the players blame the game.

My dad did 20+ years in the army, I'm at 14 and ready to get out, and I've told my kids if you're going to join go into the navy or airforce and get technical training and experience and get out. That generational service will not be sustained in the environment keeps changing

On the surface, it seems the Marines are the only service that still draws it present day from its days past, which is good. Not polluted by woke. They just deactivated 4th battalion around a week ago, they had a whole ceremony for it, Sir. Also, 4th started as the sole female recruit training unit it then shifted to be the first integrated training unit, Sir.

In '94 we did the Eagle, Globe and Anchor the day before graduation right before they released us to our parents for the day.
@8:20 only one female fell out when we did our run and it was because her hip had been fucked up since the crucible. She decided to just thug it out instead of going to medical since we were days away from graduation, it was a bad idea

Why wouldn't that Lt Col not convince his daughter to go to college and follow him into the Space Force, it makes no sense to piss away 3-4 years as an enlisted Marine when you could possibly get into the Space Force. An O5 should have some pull to get his daughter in the same service he's in, even if entry into the service is tight. She looks more like she was an adopted Central American girl, the girl across the street from us was adopted from Honduras when she was an infant, her father is a 6 foot white guy, she's 4'11" Central American.

In UK we have pack runs with full battle kit and 50lb packs. Do the US do this? If so how the heck do those little kids manage?

87-88, Parris Island, we had ICT, 10 days in field combat conditions. We weren't Marines until graduation day. Things have changed, my son earned his EGA after the Crucible.

The US Marines ads look incredibly soft compared to the UK equivalent, its quite a strange thing when at the end of the day an army is looking for people, when push comes to shove, can kill.

Way too serious eyes is a sign of mental illness to me. The concept of "gotta go in as an officer not as a recruit" is as pervasive now as "gotta go to college and avoid the trades" was for the last 4 decades.

Used to, you had to do a mandatory 2 years as enlisted before being allowed to even being evaluated to go officer. That stopped somewhere in the late 1800s if memory serves. The rich people (modern equivalent to Nobels who would go into military service as officers because they thought they were too good not to) thought they were better than became officers and changed the rules once they got high enough rank.
Hell no!!! Keep avoiding the trades! I’m making a fortune as a plumber because nobody wants to work.

I'm wondering who designed BCG's. They aren't practical for daily wearing, (no peripheral vision), and they seem to be intentionally demeaning in appearance. The first thing we did was have the lenses transplanted to aviation frames at the PX/ NEX. That was a notable improvement while still maintaining uniform regs.
Are they just giving away meritorious PFC out of boot camp now? There were a LOT of PFCs in that video.
The way they all sang The Marine's Hymn was sad as well. When we sang it, we belted it out loud and proud...AND IN KEY!
Could be people with some college credits, or other types of incentives.
They are treated poorly, underpaid, and the trauma that you endure upon signing up stays with you for life, you become forever scarred. The military of the future.

Went to the recruiter to join the Marines. The Army recruiter said we offer you everything the Marines do. However, we offer you a whole lot more. Special forces training, ranger training, basic airborne training, advanced airborne training, scuba diving training, mountain warfare training, language Training. Then he ask, so what's it going to be? " Air Born All The Way "

Once you hit the fleet and hike or run it’s shorties in the front. Per my unit 6105’s or negative counselings if you fall out past a certain point.
Those studies are largely done by universities with predetermined outcomes.

My son (graduated a couple of weeks ago) told me his platoon didn't get their EGA until they'd come down off that hill. He said somebody messed up, there weren't enough at the top to go around. Top of the hill, bottom of the hill, that's close enough for government work.
