@@michaelbcohen A minimum ASVAB score of 31 is hardly a high benchmark to meet. While the boot camp is the hardest, the follow-on training is usually far less technical or lengthy than other branches’. The Marines have become, since the 1950’s, a more flexible land infantry force, far from what it was designed to be: an amphibious expeditionary force. That’s turning back now, with the elimination of armor, most heavy artillery, heavy helicopter squadrons and a renewed focus on amphibious warfare. Also, no, the Marines are not the first ones in the fight. Not in modern warfare. Special operations forces establish looooong before any Marine touches the ground. Even Air Force has units that are not special operations that go in before a beachhead invasion. Speaking of... the last Marine amphibious operation was in Somalia, against zero enemy. The last one with actual combat involved was Grenada, where the Army and Air Force landed at the same time. This ain’t 1917 and it’s not a Lance’s wet dream story. Modern warfare doesn’t work that way.
@James Thompson Perhaps your lack of English comprehension is EXACTLY what I’m talking about. The average AIT in the Marine Corps is shorter than the average schools the other branches have. The Corps have a lot fewer technical career fields. Pulling out a couple of specific MOSs doesn’t change the average and you don’t actually even know the length of that training, obviously. Try being intelligent instead of butthurt. Even your own comment says most technical training is done be the Navy.
There are only two branches meeting their recruiting goals Space Force and the Marine Corps. The other branches are averaging 60% of their quota. The Navy is basically mothballing 17 ships because they don’t have the manpower to properly manage their ships.

I served over 30 yrs ago at Pendleton, CA and we used to have Seabees coming through for special training and they were a great bunch. Really tough and hardworking guys. Don't know how it is now back then they pretty much wore the same clothes we did and could hardly tell us apart except for the insignias. We hung out a lot at the E-club having drinks and dancing on weekends we kept telling them we were going to write them up for not ironing their camouflages, lol. (I think at the time we were the only branch that ironed their cammys).
Oh I remember that recruit who couldn't swim, had one in my platoon. During swim qualification we went into the pool in alphabetical order. I had just jumped in and was starting my way through and all of a sudden the drill instructors began yelling at us, more than usual that is. The recruit behind had jumped in and never came back up. They had to fish him out as the rest of us were treading water to get to the edge. Turns out he couldn't swim and was afraid to tell the DI's.
I think the USMC has the best military recruitment ads! I think my favorite was the last one. The phrase "defending the American way of life" really got me there!
The "Running Into The Fire" spot is IMO one of the Top Ten best TV commercials of all time. From the standpoint of someone in television and video production who has produced and directed a number of TV commercials in my career, that spot is literally perfection!
My cousins' maternal grandfather was in the Corps from 1963-69, but never got deployed to Vietnam. Funniest story he told me was during boot camp, his bunkmate was tricked into speaking with the Senior Drill Instructor. The bunkmate was a 6 foot 3inch, 220 pound lumberjack. To be able to enter a DI's office and speak, you have knock on the door frame really hard until acknowledged. The guy starts knocking, DI responds "I cant HEAR you!!"; and this goes on until the lumberjack got pissed off and he actually PUNCHED through the door. You can guess what happened next
The Marine commercials are good but, I still think the best US military commercial to this day is the one from years ago with the Navy Seals. There's no music, no voice-over, no talking. Just a beach at night. The mood gets covered by the clouds and it gets even darker. Then the moon comes back out and there are footsteps on the beach, which are quickly washed away by the waves. Amazing commercial, just a silent and to the point as the Navy Seals themselves.

The Marine Corp has turned out Marines for over 225 years. ...they are the same men that they have always been. ...men who want to serve their country to their best ability and fight for each other when the sh hits the fan...every Marine is a brother and that has been it heritage since the beginning. ...your not given the title Marine you earn it each generation of Marines has stood on the shoulders of the Marines that have gone before and they wouldn't want any shame coming to the Corp
As a Marine I will say that I am a 4th generation Marine. It was a family tradition and I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything. Becoming a Marine isn't for just anyone. The training is rigorous, and many don't even make it through boot-camp, which is the toughest, longest, most difficult boot-camp in all of the US Military. When you first have the Eagle Globe and Anchor placed in your hand and your Senior Drill Instructor is the 1st to call you a United States Marine, man it's truly a remarkable, humbling, amazing experience you'll never forget. The Marine Corps has truly perfected the art of taking girls and boys to then transform them into remarkable men and women who are lean, mean, fighting machines that many of our enemies fear, enemies who we haunt their very dreams, like deadly boogeyman. The Somalies and Iraqi Republican Guard called us 'Devils in the black boots', and the Germans during WWI called us 'Tufelhunden' meaning Devil Dogs, but our US citizens and allies call us United States Marines. I'm a year late seeing this but, U.S Marines are the only branch in the U.S. that you receive a title, once you complete boot camp. Examples, soldiers, sailors and fly boys (as we call them all).....Asked what branch are you in? They reply accordingly....soldier... Army, sailor....Navy, fly boys....Air Force. Ask a someone from the Corps, it's I'm a Marine and NEVER I'm in the Cops or Marines. Also they tank looking vehicles that were going from water to the beach, it's what I did. The DRESS WHITE UNIFORM Is gorgeous also but only commissioned officers have the dress, blues and dress whites. do US Marine are part of the department of the navy… The difference is that they’re harder to train, and the amphibious force. In fact, it is so much more difficult to be a US Marine, that if you’re a Marine and years later, you decide to go into the army or the army reserves or Air Force or even in the army National Guard, you don’t have to go to their Boot Camp. NOO!! Basic training, Boot Camp is probably twice as hard for marines than it is for the US Army. It’s hell in Paris Island because if you go in the summer, it’s hot as hell, and then the sand fleas bite the hell out of you.. I’ve even told people if they’re going to go to basic training and live east of the Mississippi River to please go to Paris Island during the spring or fall.. Anybody that’s been in the army, U.S. Navy US Air Force who wants to go in the Marine Corps later does have to go in the boot camp
It's funny when I think of how my grandpa was a Marine and served in Vietnam but doesn't know how to swim😅 like bro isn't that something a Marine should know? Just my thoughts
I'm 80, served 12 years in the USMC spent 20 months in Vietnam in 3/7, went through Parris Island in 1957. Believe me, you learn how to swim in the Marines. say Hi to Gramps from a fellow Marine.
@@joem9806 I don't deny that sir, and I thank you very much for your service. However I do believe it's true as my grandmother has told me and my gramps hates to admit. You know, he is around your age and yet he is very active and always moving always doing something or fixing/building something. I feel as though Marines particularly retired ones are always such great and active men/women. The warrior spirit never goes away and it's what fuels him. I assume the fire has never faded from your soul either and even if it has you will always remain a Marine.
Had an uncle that served in the Navy and he never learned to swim. One of his daughters asked him wasn't there a test you had to pass? He said he learned the greatest lesson about life, "There's is always a way to get out of anything." It was all he would say about and took the story to his grave how he got out of taking the Navy swim qual.
If you like this. Think you would love Warrior Song/Hard Corp by Warrior Song Project. They have a song for each one of the services. The prelude to each one is amazing
No one can say the Marines ever ran from a battle or leave behind a fallen fellow Marine. But, each of the armed forces has roles that put its members in harm's way and require courage and discipline. One example would be the hell the Marines went through on Guadalcanal. If I recall the Marines lost about 1700+ heroes. Meanwhile, naval actions around the island took the lives of around 5000 Navy personnel. All had a part to play. Just an example.
Hands down those Kiwis are bad ass's, outstanding fighting history and an even more fierce warrior spirit. I often think that if I'd ever have to renounce my US citizenship, the only other country I'd be proud to call home and again serve would be New Zealand 🇳🇿. If more people only knew the warrior spirit of New Zealand, many more would agree like many of my Marine Corps brothers and sisters. That includes my late grandmother who was a Marine during WWII. Semper Fidelis New Zealand...
I spent four years in the marine corps but those four years turned out to be an eternity that’s where the saying goes once marine always a marine I loved every minute of it the only regret I have is only staying four years and not longer every marine is a brother to me I miss it
WWII once the Marines took Guadalcanal they were extremely lucky to go to Australia for Rest & Relaxation. The Marines had to restock, resupply, heal for the next fight. The 1st Marine Division was treated so well by the Australian people that they made Waltzing Matilda it's official song. For none Australians and US Marines ... Waltzing Matilda is the unofficial nation anthem of Australia. Semper-Fi
It’s actually quite hard to even get a chance to go to the Marines. Not everyone qualifies. 15% that do get to go to Boot Camp don’t earn the title due to medical reasons, physical fitness, mentality, etc. When I went through Boot Camp, Just in my Platoon, we had 10 people try to escape within the first week. Some, they’re bodies just couldn’t take the punishment, others weren’t mentally ready while others just quit. Lots of recruits were injured, others were not physically fit to advance with their platoon and others were sent back to the beginning for poor attitudes. That is why it is the few. When you graduate, you earn the title of a Marine so you are proud of yourself. No one can take that away from you.

USMC ain't no joke. The law may say one thing. You're fellow marines will whoop yer ass in Boot or any other time if your a shit bird. Law of Marines enforces it own.
I don't think the Marines would use an Army Ranger video for their commercials, they probably wouldn't be allowed to do that. Maybe they were Marines who you thought were Army Rangers.
Army Rangers are Marine wannabes, just sayin. Must be nice to be given all the latest tech, weapons, and government funding. Meanwhile the Marine Corp, aka, the bastard stepchild of the US Military, gets all the broke dick hand-me-downs that no one wants. Also the Marine Corps is also the most underfunded branch of the US military, but is still the toughest, hardest, most feared, and envied fighting force on the face of this planet. Now many of you 'posers' will say that we're brainwashed, uneducated, illiterate, crayon eating, people that no one wants, in which I say....haters gonna hate, just make sure to hold your girlfriends close, because we've been popping hearts since 1775, and no one can hold a candle to how we dominate any fight. Semper Fidelis!
Also, what Marine would ever include any nasty ass, weak, Army Ranger bullshit in a Marine Corps recruitment video, we have absolutely no desire to be even associated anything Army, especially for those of you who study US Military history and know anything about the US Army in Korea. Thankfully after a US Army retreat, they were kind enough to run away and leave behind all kinds of brand new, fresh out of the crate, US Military weapons, ammo, and vehicles, which the Marine Corps had to clean and refurbish in the field, but in the end gave the Marine Corps the ability to whoop some serious , AND mostly Chinese Army and Northern Korean Army ass. So much appreciated, US Army, much appreciated, Semper Fi!

Amphibious Assault Vehicles(Trax). Any who see and wish to dispute the fact. YATYAS..3rdAABN HS and Alpha Companies Pendleton (Area 21), Delta Company 29 Stumps, also 3rd CAB Schwab, Okinawa.
Yat Yas brother, 2nd AABN D Co. Was attached to 3/5 during OIF, tip of the spear. We make the Marine Corps amphibious!
Semper Fidelis
Courtney love the video keep Up the good work and lots of love headed ur way (:
Should check out the older commercials like The Sword, The Chess Game, and others from the 80's and 90's. Some really good ones.
Hey Courtney! Hope you're having a great day! Enjoyed the video!
The DRESS WHITE UNIFORM
Is gorgeous also but only commissioned officers have the dress, blues and dress whites. do US Marine are part of the department of the navy… The difference is that they’re harder to train, and the amphibious force.
@@shyryTsr2k Yup, I'm still healthy and active. And thank you
Had an uncle that served in the Navy and he never learned to swim. One of his daughters asked him wasn't there a test you had to pass? He said he learned the greatest lesson about life, "There's is always a way to get out of anything." It was all he would say about and took the story to his grave how he got out of taking the Navy swim qual.
You’d be surprised, but they quickly learn
If you like this.
Think you would love Warrior Song/Hard Corp by Warrior Song Project.
They have a song for each one of the services. The prelude to each one is amazing
My 18 year old daughter is a U.S. Marine. She is my hero and always will be.
Please welcome your daughter as our sister at arms to Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. Semper Fi
Yes anyone in the armed services sign a blank check payable on demand up to and including your life. I have 8 buddies out of 59k on that wall in DC
@@tombob671 As did I. 3 tours. Well part of a 3rd. 27 months.
I walked along side the Kiwis in Afghanistan - Fierce warriors! Wicked tattoos
Amazing video Courtney.
Pain is temporary. Pride is forever. Semper Fi.
My mother and siblings know these are my brothers. When you earn the title Marine you will always be a Marine
C, post Marine Corps, travelled to your RIGHTEOUS country, work ing with the NZ military. Enjoyed the trip. 👍 Semper Fi, G
I spent four years in the marine corps but those four years turned out to be an eternity that’s where the saying goes once marine always a marine I loved every minute of it the only regret I have is only staying four years and not longer every marine is a brother to me I miss it
I'd love to see somebody try helping their opponent up after pugil sticks the Drill Instructors would not have it
Its not easy serving and all service men and women have my thanks which never seems to be enough for what they do to protect us.
I love my country 🇺🇸
Proud Mother here of a Captain in the USMC.

Where are my fellow Devil Dogs at?!
You need to do a commentary on the movie Blackhawk Down
I hope you are doing well after the nearby earthquake. Keep up the interesting videos! Hugs from North Dakota USA
Hey hello this is Ken Haven from CUT AND SHOOT TEXAS. GOOD TO SEE U AGAIN LOVE YOUR SHOWS
been on a zodiac rubber boat many times
Watch the Marines : Battle to Belong commercial

Hi sweetie.❤Love that you're doing military reactions. I recommend a reaction to the story of Audie Murphy. The most decorate soldier in American history. ❤🇺🇸
The. Marine dress blues can trace its roots back to the war of 1812.
Thank you for your kind comments. From a retired Master Sergeant of Marines.

The ONLY regret I had during my entire 24 year career in the Corps was........... My body got old. Semper Fi Devil Dogs!!
Does your country do this type of marketing to enlist in your military?
You need to look at the commercials from the late eighties and early nineties...
Semper Fi 👏👏
What do you know about US ROTC or OCS programs? I’m currently in Army ROTC at college and I’m curious if you’ve seen any videos or what you know about the programs. Regardless, great video as usual!

Bunch of sailors.
USMC ain't no joke. The law may say one thing. You're fellow marines will whoop yer ass in Boot or any other time if your a shit bird. Law of Marines enforces it own.
God Bless Chesty Puller...where ever you are.

I love how when it was at the second to last commercial the Marines used army ranger videos for their commercials
Do u ever plan on moving to the US
