I watched Walter Payton highlights for 30 minutes before turning on the game, and it gave me enough of a sugar high on Sweetness to leave the game on in the background while I cleaned up my basement. The only reason to watch this actively is to "enjoy" the accidental tanking by the Bears. Because it does entirely look accidental.

Agreed. Here's the thing: I think Brown might have a ton of ability as an OC. After he took over from Waldron, the Bears offense looked really good. They were scoring well, Williams looked like he was finally getting a grasp on things, and things were looking good if they could be more consistent in the 1st half of games. But the fact they adjusted and scored in the backhalf of the games where he was the OC shows he can adjust.
If Eberflus could get out of the way of his own incompetence, they could have had something going into next year. I hope Brown gets a legit OC opportunity somewhere else, if not with the Bears. Dude's just got his shot way before he was ready.

I watched the entire game, not a bears or Seahawks fan. Without a doubt Brown and Williams threw that game in purpose. Seattles stupid defense was begging them to be beaten and all the bears had to do was run either a scream or a quick hitter over
The middle and they are in fg range. Those last 4 throws Williams threw had 0 chance of being completed. Williams was surprised that the previous 4th down throw was caught for a 1st.
He looked surprised like he was in trouble more so than I threw a great pass to keep the drive going. This guy was literally going to punt the ball at midfield with 2 minutes left down by 3! I’ve been watching pro football for almost 40 years and They tanked this game without a doubt. The nfl should investigate this, an utter embarrassment. 1. Make timeouts 5 minutes long. That way they have time to figure out there next play without the pressure to analyze that in just a minute.

1 the team with the ball could get a rebound and score that way

This would be more like a pitcher in baseball throwing a pitch that hasn't worked for him all night with the bases loaded, full count, bottom of the 9th, score tied, no outs, against their best hitter and praying this pitch will work or even more unlikely that the batter would hit into a triple play

Throwing deep passes could be indicative of trying to draw for pass interference penalties to get free yards in which the coaches will never admit out loud. I hate that thought of drawing penalties is considered a valid strategy but can't argue against it if it's there to exploit.

Yeah, I don't blame Brown very much. A couple months ago he was an assistant to the OC and now he's HC. He wasn't ready for this and it was just thrust in his face on short notice. Maybe in a few years he'll be ready, but judging him on a few games towards the end of the season is a bit unfair.
When Brown was the OC, Williams had some of his best numbers as a pro.

•1st &10, with 0:38 to go. Instead of going for a short pass play for about 5 yards, they are looking for over ten yards and at the same time chewing up more time.
    • Kmet broke and was open at the 30 on that 1st & 10. Caleb is looking right at him. Again, Caleb is constantly looking for the big gain play.
The plays that followed make it very clear they did not want to win this game.

I feel bad for Thomas Brown. He was a position coach, then thrust into interim OC then a week later thrust into interim HC. Dude is obviously not qualified to be in the position he's in but its not his fault. Its the inept organization and ownership that decided a position coach would be able to run a team.

I didn't get it, either. When they got to the 40, I was thinking, just work underneath, get another 10 yards or so and then Santos ties the game up. You have to get inside his range and then you can try to take a shot to win if you want, although as lousy as the Bears' OL was, I don't know that I would risk the sack. That play-calling was atrocious. If Brown DID think the QB run was there, then do it.

In all fairness, the weather was really bad so maybe the Bears thought converting a field goal wasn't a possibility. A lot of things can go wrong on a field goal attempt, and with the weather the way it was that just adds to the list of things that go wrong, or cause something to go wrong. I'm just saying.

Don't just blame it on Brown. Caleb should be the one to blame. He's the QB. He's supposed to run this 2-minute offense. So why did he throw 4 deep passes? just because that's the plays called from the sidelines?
Gimme a break! Why didn't he scrap the coach's play and just throw a short pass to get closer for the FG? Does he have any clue what a high % pass is? Is he afraid of getting bench if he doesn't follow the plays call from the sidelines?
I am sick and tired of shifting all the blames to the coaching staffs simply because he's a rookie. Caleb is a #1 pick, but he obviously has no clue how to run a 2-minute offense. The evidence in the Lions game was loud and clear (able to run only 1 play in 32 seconds with a timeout in the pocket). He exposed his ineptitude in this Seahawks game once again.
He doesn't have the mental capacity to be an NFL QB at all. Even Drake Maye and Spencer Rattler have the common sense of running a 2-minute offense.
