I remember Bucks Fizz back in the early Eighties and liked their catchy pop tunes. Underneath it all there was some smouldering talent especially from Jay Aston. I remember her on TV doing a dance routine and my mother saying she's got oodles of natural talent. The great thing here is that Mike, Cheryl and Jay has absolutely still got it. And whilst their material is perhaps a little more serious it's superb. I'll be seeing what albums are available in a bit.
This song is going to be one of the most underrated pop songs of 2020. Incredible.
I think it's catchy, and the words resonate with everyone of the Bucks Fizz era who might be getting sad at being older and reminiscing. I love it!

my father grew up with bucks fizz and one day while listening to some of their older songs (the land of make believe anyone??) i found this song by accident and i'm so so so so glad i did! hands down, one of the absolute best songs i've ever heard. i'm so glad y'all are still making music doing what you love! ❤️

@@Richard-xp4shI think they’d have won it this year with this song. Good music is always appreciated. Just a shame there’s a dirth of it in 2024. OK, I’m their generation so probably biased, but so much rubbish music around at the moment.
'The World We Left Behind' is a fantastic song and Bucks Fizz are back at their very best.

First time I've heard this and what a lovely song, great to hear new music and for me Cheryl. Jay and Mike will always be the real Bucks Fizz, forget Bobby and his pettiness.

So glad I was one of the lucky ones to actually get to see them in concert before lockdown - as this is one of my favourite on Smoke & Mirrors I was so happy they performed this - here's to (hopefully) a 40th Anniversary Tour next year
Such a nostalgic song. After the good times and the bad the Fizz have come out tops! Over 40 years of being together , those clips from the past reminding us of those wonderful days. A bit sad too with the crash and break ups. But the Fizz have reclaimed the place they truly deserve- at the top!
I hope they will stay together for at least another 20 years making magic music like this. We are very proud here in Ireland of Mike. Another treasured musican Christy Dignam died last week. Christy was wonderful. Both Christy and Mike came from the same part of Dublin, Finglas. Would love to hear Mike singing one of Christy songs. Mike sings ballads beautifully.
Congratulations, Cheryl, Jay and Mike, on this one getting to #1 for two weeks on the UK's "The Heritage Chart", tracking new songs by veteran artists. I always thought this should have been the first single. But this was worth the wait, even watching Jay dancing with someone 😁offscreen.🤣

This is definitely worthy of so much more than it got credit for. The more I listen to it the better it gets. Its almost anthemic as well as rousing so much nostalgia. Fantastic.

Good to see this video, and found today after hearing Mike Read giving it several plays on UDJ Radio. This song is brand new, simple, tuneful, modern, feel-good and so nostalgic.
Great vocal, Cheryl Baker.
One of those tracks where the basic template of the song relies a bit on the visual presentation to realize the full impact. And the subject matter depicted herein warrants that both aspects are showcased at full strength. Of course since the Fizz excels in all of those disciplines, they rose to the occasion accordingly. A magnificent pause for reflection of a mission statement that has been impeccable for more than four decades. Job over the top well done.

I agree - this would have easily been a sizeable top ten hit if the charts were anything like they used to be before 2015 (which was around the time 'downloads' came into effect and the charts went doollally and have never been quite right since). I can't wait for the next Fizz album, would love it if there was something in the pipeline for some point in 2022.

What an amazing and unexpected pleasure was for me to come accross this song, absolutely by chance on my way to the office this morning and most of all when I found out that it is a 2020 release. At the beginning, neither having at sight the title nor the performer, just the sound in my headphones, I thought it might be a long time ago tune that I missed... I just can say THANK YOU for making that quality music nowadays. It brought me back to a time when what made a song good was the harmony, rhythm, cadence and good taste in its composition and of course all this accompanied by meaningful lyrics.
Fast approaching 60 and this song rings so true... i guess it is the same for the FIzz nowadays. Youth certainly gets left behind but the memories of it always remain...
This song is just mind blowing, if they entered this in Eurovision with a different video of things past ending it with Her Majestys Funeral, Britain would win hands down

Its been a year since this song was first released as a track from the Smoke and Mirrors album. Which I think released No68 in the itunes charts, when it was released officially as a single in July last year it reached N041 in the itunes charts and just nearly was ready to enter the official singles charts at midweek at 37, but didnt quite get there, but I still believe the Fizz will have a surprise hit single this year or next.

This is an awesome song keep up the good work its amazing to see the quality of the songs you are creating. I loved this song from the minute I heard it so much so I created a choreography for my Zumba class, to allow me to share it with people.
