Royal FloraHolland - Flower Auction

My visit to Royal FloraHolland in Aalsmeer @ 7am!
The earlier you get here, the more you are going to see. The auction is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 07.00 am to 11.00 am, and on Thursdays, from 07.00 am to 09.00 am.
Adults: € 7.50 per person
I found it fascinating and mesmerising to watch the flowers and plants get moved around the floor with such efficiency! I loved the automation! I can only wonder how IT systems keep track of the growers and then the buyers and how the human factor will disappear over the coming years!
There are about 20,000 different varieties of plants & flowers that are traded here, making up 100,00 transactions every day. Total area is about 220 football fields! (1,300,000 sq metres).

I worked at the Naaldwijk location 10 years ago and work starts even 1 hour earlier, working times were from 6AM to 12AM. After that it was all over, the only activity after that is buyers loading up their trucks with the flowers they bought at auction and driving off.
