  • Hypoxemia causes & treatment explained clearly by Dr. Seheult of www.medcram.com/?Y...
This video covers the first of the five main causes of hypoxemia: high altitude. Videos 2 through 5 cover other causes of hypoxemia: pulmonary diffusion, hypoventilation, shunting, and ventilation-perfusion mismatch (VQ mismatch). See these videos free at www.medcram.com/courses/hypox...

MedCram = More understanding in less time
Medical education topics explained clearly including: Respiratory lectures such as Asthma and COPD. Renal lectures on Acute Renal Failure, Urinalysis, and The Adrenal Gland. Internal medicine videos on Oxygen Hemoglobin Dissociation Curve / Oxyhemoglobin Curve and Medical Acid Base. A growing library on critical care topics such as Shock, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), aortic stenosis, and Mechanical Ventilation. Cardiology videos on Hypertension, ECG / EKG Interpretation, and heart failure. VQ Mismatch and Hyponatremia lectures have been popular among medical students and physicians. The Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) videos, hypoxemia vs. hypoxia, altitude sickness, hyperventilation, pulmonary embolism, and Ventilator-associated pneumonia lectures have been particularly popular with RTs. NPs and PAs have provided great feedback on Pneumonia Treatment and Liver Function Tests among many others. Mechanical ventilation for nursing and the emergency & critical care RN course is available at MedCram.com. Dr. Jacquet teaches our EFAST exam tutorial, lung sonography & bedside ultrasound courses. Many nursing students have found the Asthma and shock lectures very helpful. We're starting a new course series on clinical ultrasound & ultrasound medical imaging in addition to other radiology lectures.
Recommended Audience - Medical professionals and medical students including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, EMT and paramedics, and many others. Thankyou. I have a home at 1000m above sea level and it effects my mental health significantly. Can't wait to move.

Hi MedCram, great explanation of hypoxaemia. I will show my respiratory physician trainees. This also gives me ideas for videos I will create for my YT channel including the difference between hypoxaemia and breathlessness which do not always go together!

Thank you for putting out great information. Could you maybe explain mid altitude like 5000 and long term health, or at 5000 and pregnancy when the mother is not native to the altitude but lover elevation like 0 -1000?

This lecture is good but there is no diffusion across alveoli whatsoever instead the pulmonary surfactants act as ultra microscopic valves and they are the enablers of direct gas exchange

Check out Dr Berg for his explanation . Well worth a look and suggests respirators are not being used correctly.

Some theories say that millimetre waves may also cause it.
