Along with my husband Clay, our dogs, cats, bees, and some poultry, we live in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming and are working on setting into our own new little homestead. I've been living this lifestyle since 2014 and my wonderful partner has joined me more recently. What will you find if you follow the channel and watch the videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. We split wood for heat, fill the water tank from a gravity fed spring, and attempt to grow as much of our own food as possible between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
We live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife that we are surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of the nature and wildlife around my home. Clay made me chuckle about the "thinking" portion. I hope he gets to go fishing sometime soon as he eases into focusing just on your place for a while. There is always plenty to do on any farm or homestead property.

Ugh! I did the same thing with the peas!🙄 SO frustrating separating them.. so glad to hear from you again. MeWe is great, but this channel is my favorite to keep up with your busy homestead. Congratulations Clay, retirement is amazing. This is my first summer and I’m loving it! Chris and I are getting married this weekend. 27 years together. Our theme is garden related:”It’s about Thyme”. Our signature mocktail is Lavender lemonade with fresh thyme. When gardening is such an important part of life, it makes sense. ☺️🙏💍

Congratulations on retirement, Clay! Ariel, you and Clay are more than welcome to drop by for a visit here in Cheyenne if you ever find yourself down this way or wish to. I can't say the gardening seasoning has been too kind. We have been dealing with torrential downpours, hail, and too cool for watermelons and cantaloupes. However, I usually have both cantaloupes and watermelons every season. We will just take what we can. The potatoes look like they're going to be great this year.

It is a pleasure to watch you.
That is so exciting that Clay is now home with you. How challenging that must have been to be apart most of the time. It must be just really nice to pick peas and eat strawberries together! I can hardly believe!) how hot it has become there, but of course where I am it is the same with the climate changing drastically. Now we have thunderstorm and tornado warnings every week, and I've never had to worry about tornadoes before. We are certainly poor caretakers of the planet (and of course I don't mean you folks, but "we" as economically-driven societies). I know what you mean about weeds - I injured my back from overdoing gardening and wood splitting, and haven't been able to do much weeding, so I too am pulling peas off vines that are interspersed with weeds. Oh well, there's always next year! Enjoy each other. I hope you do take some time off and go fishing and have some relaxing time together. Fingers crossed for Burley!

Also wanted to add that our situation is quite similar where my husband works several hours away for 5-6 days a week (staying in our camper) while I hold things down here and do our business books. It’s tough! I’m so happy for you guys!

Congratulations on retirement, Clay! That will be great for the two of you and your property as well. I'm in a similar boat with building up a homestead from scratch on raw land, it's a ton of work. Very rewarding when you take a moment to step back and see how far you've come though.

I know how you feel Ariel, I have day's when I have to remind myself I don't hate my life to. Congratulations to Cliff on retiring. What type of fishing does he do? I recently helped a friend clear out her hoarding Uncles house and he had tubs and tubs of fishing lures. Looks like they're from the late 50's, 60's and 70's for fresh and salt water fishing. If he could use a few I would love to send them as a retirement gift and thank you for all his hard work on the homestead. Have a great evening.

Regarding quack grass, I recently watched a video on the No-Till Growers channel where they explained having success using a border of comfrey to keep quack grass out of their garden. The video was titled Perennial Weed Management on a No-Till Farm.
