Panama's problems were due to El Niño droughts but since July when La Niña hit, it's actually had the opposite problem and that's flooding. The Mulino government should have mechanisms in place to avoid these issues by the time the cycle changes again. So good luck to México but their alternative doesn't seem to be a game changer at all tbh .
Even 2 million containers per here he’s actually not a lot at all. And that’s by 2036??? that’s about 100 and something ships . Definitely not a threat but also a good alternative
Incorrect. The amount of ships passing has decreased by 25%. Before water the problems the canal was moving about 8 million TEU per year. It’s still far away from the Mexican project.

So the Panama Canal is dying. so Mexico adding capacity is somehow undermining it?
That doesn't make any sense.

The Panama canal is currently moving 500,000 containers per year because of its water problems.

There are several lies here.
