Hi Sevy, I've been a Diluc main since 1.0 (when he was still in the standard banner) and I'm sorry to break this to u but I think u made a mistake. The info about the atk sands vs EM sand (9:14) is completly wrong. With vape and without atk buffs: 1) Prototype Archaic: EM sand is best. 2) Blackcliff (with or without passive buff): EM and atk sand deal the same. 3) RainSlasher (r1 to r5): EM and atk sand deal the same. With vape and atk buffs like Bennett: All weapons will deal more dmg with EM sands. 1) atk based weapons like Prototype Archaic: less dmg than other weapons when compared to all the others mentioned. 2) Blackcliff and RainSlasher deal the same dmg when the refinement lvl is the same and with use of the passive. Ps.:All of this consider no detriment to the 1:2 crit ratio (witch give u a higher crit dmg when using Blackcliff). So long story short, it doesn't matter what weapon u use, it doesn't matter the buffs u have, EM sands is ALWAYS better than atk sands. And that will remain true as long as u vape/melt. The reason for that is, since vape and melt can crit, as long as u vape/melt ur EM actually enter the equation of crit value and it works similarly to crit dmg. For every other situation (other reactions/no reactions) atk sands is better.

I like Diluc because his gameplay is basically "press button to hit" instead of the latter characters where you have to wait until moonlight hits your vision in the right angle on Thursdays and you are standing on your hands
Look, new characters aren't that difficult, I think you're just malding, probably from the fact that the moonlight needs the hit from the right angles on Tuesdays, a common problem for people who don't read the 7k skill descriptions
When you play Diluc it always feels like you’re the main character. Many other characters feel like a side supporter. That’s the best I can describe it.
Sevy you have been killing it lately, a lot of guides as well as being top notch. Mentioning the shatter + freeze combo that doesn't work and also mentioning hit lag with extending Diluc burst is advanced knowledge, you have grown so far! Nice to see!
@@trustypatches669 if you have a decently built Diluc, you can easily 36 star the Abyss with Diluc, since there isn't any harder content than that, I don't see a point in him being stronger.
He may be retired as the best Pyro dps but it's still cool to see his fire bird once in a while. Also those new voices in his skin sounds like a badass. Props to Kensho Ono's voice acting delivery.
Yeah. His burst may not be too powerful, it may screw up your positioning, it may take for ever, but it has got to be one of the absolute coolest bursts in the game.
2 things I always think about with Diluc is where would he stand if he has a better 1st Passive and or if Gravestone has Crit DMG and not Atk for its 2ndary stats
For real, many characters could’ve been better with a different passive talent- Yae Miko’s useless skill refresh talent and Kokomi’s dumb -100% CR for 25% healing bonus exchange…like?
I doubt they change Relentless but we could get a good crit claymore in the future, like a Jade series one. But he's not going to be meta all of the sudden.
@@finntran1672 kokomi was made like that for a reason, she doesn't really need to crit and she's a healer anyway, but yeah Yae and Diluc's passive are kinda useless.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU, SEVY. You don't know how happy I am right now after refreshing my feed and seeing this updated guide! I have been looking for an updated Diluc guide for quite a few months already 'cos the latest one that I can see was almost a year ago. Diluc is the reason why I got hooked in the game, seeing his cool action scenes in his Story Quest, and there's nothing I would not want more than giving him his perfect build.
I've been a Diluc main for almost 2 years now but I am watching your video anyway. I still don't have a decent EM sand. He is still one of my 4 characters that I use in the open world. His skill set and playstyle still doesn't bore me. Lastly, his new skin is a nice addition but I like both the skin and his regular clothes equally so I am switching between the two from time to time.
I've always really liked Diluc even if he isn't "Meta", it always felt satisfying playing him. I'm currently on the hunt for a Crimson EM Sands cause he has 2600 ATK with an ATK Sands & Wolfs Gravestone, but farming that domain is just pain.
He has one of the best gameplay and really satisfying combo. What held him back are his 1st passive - which is useless in any scenario. And his number - considering he is a claymore user, which slower than the likes of Hu Tao or Yoimiya, but the later 2 has higher multiplier
I've been playing since the beginning. Full f2p. My first 5* heroes were Diluc and Venti, which I drew in 10 simultaneous draws. I think everyone understands what the emotions were. Diluc + Xingqiu + Rainslasher r5 so pretty good
Recently raised my Diluc (the skin made me a SIMP) and I was so pleasantly surprised that he does not have ICD with his skill. Pairing him up with Xingqiu and Kazuha, I was able to smash through floor 11 and 12 with ease. Such a fun and satisfying unit to play.
Diluc was my first good DPS and his arrival came at just the right time, as I was feeling frustrated with the game. Adding him to my roster helped a ton.
the best part of this video is you explaining why extending rotations is a dps loss in a simple and understandable way. most players don't understand it at all and think things like Sac Kazuha, low ER characters, Yae>Fischl, etc are always the best because they don't realize that by doing a longer rotation, more of their damage is unbuffed. I never thought of a simple way to explain it like that, so I am glad you mentioned it here.
For almost two years, I’ve prayed to get Diluc. It’s like almost everyone who played Genshin the first day it was released was able to get Diluc. 😢 It was finally thanks to Kokomi, that he finally came home. And I intend to use him
On my main account I got diluc as my first 5* I made another account a couple days ago got diluc in my first novice 10pull :D you have had some bad luck.
I use Diluc on my 2nd account and the Wolf's Gravestone dropped (Standard) 3 days before I got Diluc (feature banner). Even if a better weapon comes out for him I will always use the Gravestone. He hits hard and looks good doing it. Especially with the new skin. :)

great guide! diluc is my favorite character so when I finally got him I triple crowned him straight away lol. fingers crossed i pull a wolves gravestone one day for him, but for the time being he slaps with the serpent spine! my diluc runs 2pc cw and 2pc glad, mostly cause it feels like i benefit more from that build over a straight 4pc cw set.
Diluc was my first 5*, and I got R4 Wallet's Gravestone while pulling for Song of Broken Wallets. I've also been getting him a lot when losing 50/50, so I figure I might as well use him. He did good work in the latest Abyss 11 run, what with all the cryo enemies and the 75% pyro bonus.
+1 for mentioning Overvape team. I recently did some gcsims for it out of curiosity and was surprised on how well it performed in the simulator. Wouldn't recommend it on mobbing content due to high KB but will probably perform well against bosses.
The 1st ever 5* I wanted to have and got him after like 6 months in and recently triple crowned him He's c1 and crit ratio of 65:163 with ARCHAIC And he's doing really well in abyss as well 36* always
@@evan_wang i go with diluc,bennet,yunjin and zhongli,i have a lack of healing yes,bennet doesn't make the full healing,but having bennet and yunjin buffing diluc in general makes him really strong,my only problem in abyss was the serpent but timing skill and burst makes it possible

I love my diluc so much. He is my 1st 5 star. I got him pretty early and he carried me until today AR 57. I love his gameplay, I used to match him with sucrose, Xingqui, and Diona. My OG Team Now, I'm using Diluc, Kazuha, Yelan, and Zhongli.
Thank you for sharing this! I've been a Kaeya main (and still am) but getting Blizzard Strayer has been a challenge. I've really enjoyed Diluc before I got to this point and hes become my best at attempting it. I'm glad I'll be able to get him better now so I can truly turn both of them into my key characters
I used to use Diluc in a vape team but ever since I tried melt, it suprisingly a deals a lot more damage than I thought (for me his burst jumped from 50k-70k). Even though he's not the best pyro dps, it shows me how much knowledge I'm lacking and I think experimenting is crucial because it's a lot more fun than you thought!
He deals more damage himself because melt has a higher multiplier than vape. But the team damage will most likely be higher with vape teams . Hydro aura stays longer so you're more likely to proc the reaction and Xingqiu/Yelan deal more damage than Kaeya/Rosaria
I have Diluc and the Unforged, I also have a C6 Diona and I wanna say it’s like these two units were made with each other in mind especially with Unforged Diona provides great shielding, healing, Cryo application, energy and other supportive benefits like Stamina cost reduction and EM, Diluc, especially at high constellations wants a shielder, both to proc his C2 and help out with shield based weapon passives (side note: this makes Diluc a Cryo Enemy’s worst nightmare as he’s super effective against them and they’re dealing very little damage to his hyper resistant Cryo shield), he wants a healer as they’re always nice to have, he wants EM from her C6 and the Noblesse buff too, he wants the Cryo application from her burst AND he also really appreciates the Stamina consumption buffs and especially the movement speed buff as that allows Diluc to dragon strike consistently without Double Anemo which just isn’t viable, it’s a massive amount of buffs for one character that makes me think she might be better than Bennett in some situations, she also works super well with Bennett as he can use 4pc Instructors to both port off more buffs to Diluc and provide the busted pyro resonance, something for an Anemo unit to swirl AND that stupidly high attack buff, Bennett’s healing is also stupid (and will let Diluc take constant advantage of Diona’s C6) and Diona’s will just top it off, these two bursts together make 320 EM, 20% ATK and up to like 1100 Flat attack for Diluc My main rotation is (with Kazuha) Bennett E, Kazu E, Diona Hold E (x2 with Sac) and Q, Kazu Q, Bennett Q (this way you swirl Cryo, not pyro, plus Bennett’s burst will react triggering instructors) and Diluc Q then just damage with Diluc till you feel the rotation has ended and repeat, the only downside with this is these 3 characters create a Spicy cocktail of death with all 3 of those small radius bursts, honestly because of this the rotation is only good against bosses and elites with huge stagger resistance thanks to Diluc being the one character in the game capable of pushing every enemy outside of this radius they’re supposed to be inside, it’s also super difficult to fully utilise but super satisfying to pull off
Those 2 ironically enough are a great match! Been playing same comp as well, tho since now I have his amazing skin, it's time for me to upgrade my Diluc to 4 piece witch. Currently 2 witch 2 glad
Got him recently from standard banner, and it's been good having him around, might not be a nuke powerhouse, but has nice consistent damage and I'm all for it.
Diluc is my first dps in Genshin. He was the reason i started to fall in love with Genshin Impact. I whale quite a bit on the game. But somehow, Diluc keeps skipping me, I have c6 Keqing (pull 2 more after c6), c5 Mona, c5 Jean, but C1 Diluc and C1 Qiqi (thanks goodness!). I hope Diluc come home whenever I fail 50/50
You helped me a lot, especially here 2:06 .. I didn't know about it , I thought it will be good idea to use Diona and Yelan ( or Xingqiu ) with Diluc to make some melt and vaporize reactions 😅💔
Dunno if anyone else will read this, but another free to play option would be the 3 star Debate Club, since not only does it add more overall damage with its substat, but due to Diluc's play style, you can constantly proc the club's passive (which does aoe physical damage once to hit something after using your skill) with the 2n+e combo. So for those who have a problem getting billets to get the prototype archaic, the debate club may be a good to probably a better alternative.
This is refreshing! Im a returning player AR 47 and have been catching up on artifacts so far. I love Diluc because of his engaging combat skills (you can literally juggle foes with his strikes) also he’s my very first unit from a wish from way back :) I can’t wait to get him on pyro dmg and crit/cdmg
I ran out of artifact space and decided it was time to rebuild Diluc. Somehow he ended up exactly the same with just a smidge more EM, but at least I actually knew what to look for this time around with the help of this video. Thanks!
I just got back after an extended hiatus from the game and I was apparently building Diluc as a new main dps, but never finished. I had no idea which artifacts to go for so thank you.
🌸😹It could be uttered that though on occasion “I have never missed an opportunity to slight Diluc” due to him being overrated in the beginning and me genuinely not fancying claymore combat, I do feel he gets too much hate nowadays! Thus though I don’t play utilize Diluc and have benched him over a year, I have come to love him more on account now he is underrated.😹🌸

Skyward pride imo is underestimated. With the secondary stat which is ER at 33% everyone says it's trash but combined with artifact substats with a total of 150% er or more, you can almost spam his ulti and do basic attacks enfused with pyro damage + extra wind blade damage @80% of your base damage.

The Sacrificial Great Sword isn't a bad option for him either. Each of the 3 elemental attacks has a chance to proc an instant CD on the whole thing. It's a really on the fly change to rotations every 30 seconds of combat but can create great burst damage depending on how you combo it with 6 elemental attacks in a row.

I got WGS on my main on Feb 2021 (the infamous Tectone banner). I only got Diluc until April this year. That said, I built him to 9/9/9 and had a blast on this abyss with him.
I've been a Diluc main since I got him from the standard banner, during Zhongli and Ganyu rerun banners. I've been waiting for him for a year and now I get to main him! And I've saved for his skin as well~~ Yes the crimson witch was a pain to farm but rn I have pretty decent pieces and decent Crit Rate & Crit damage ratio. I really enjoy playing him and I love seeing his burst, so much that I mostly accidentally cast it haha. Oh and I've triple crowned him as well! I do wish I get constellations of him tho.
*Just a tip* When using diluc burst go back a few steps and then burst. This is more useful than normal burst because the bird does more damage when it sprint upwards. If u buff his burst with Bennet ult he can do more than 100k
My favorite character!! YES! CW domain is a pain to farm but I am determined to give Diluc the best stats/artifacts that I can get. I just need to give him a little more c.rate then I will be satisfied. I use him in a melt team (kaeya-diona-kazuha). That mono pyro team looks fun, I'll try that! ☺️
Bought the new skin on Hu Tao's birthday just for the kicks. He's my first main and with the skin and with the current abyss cycle favoring pyro in one of the halves, he's out of retirement. I'm keeping Blackcliff Slasher for the aesthetics (hoping to get WGS or redhorn someday).
The crimson witch domain doesn't want to give me atk sands so I just memed diluc and used ER and skyward pride, at least negative energy problem despite no damage.
Diluc and his Wolfstone Greatsword were actually my first two 5-star pulls, done consecutively. I was *very* happy when it happened, back at launch. I dropped out of the game for a while and am now playing again, but struggling to figure out how to build, so this helped, thank you! Though I am using a Jean, Ayato and Mona combo, I'm starting to think I've made bad choices...
The problem with Diluc is that has never appeared in a promotional banner. So you can have lots of Qiqi, Mona, Jean and Keqing and 0 Diluc if you are as lucky as me after almost 2 years of playing. Diluc in my cas is more difficult to get than Lisa or Kaeya constellations...

(This team comp actually has more dps than Hu Tao comps but is way more difficult than learning to CA cancel with a c0 Hu Tao or just pew pew pew with Yoimiya) His highest dps ceiling comps is the Dragonstrike Melt, can do over 270k per plunge, you need Diona to increase the movement speed tho

I’ve been playing Diluc on and off since I got him (he was my first pity breaker back in 1.3) but with his skin I decided to try and main him again, I’ve been playing an overload team with him and Electro Aether and it’s been a ton of fun!
As a non-Hu Tao-owner, diluc is my go-to pyro dps for ages. I generally prefer fun over meta and he is definitely one of those characters. I will try to get hu tao though, someday

Frr if he had access to a high atk crit weapon kinda like mistsplitter he might be cracked. Or if he had a charge attack like ittos.

Diluc was my first good DPS and his arrival came at just the right time, as I was feeling frustrated with the game. Adding him to my roster helped a ton.
I recently read Diluc’s backstory which lead me to build him. He’s super fun to play and not as complicated to use like other units.
the best part of this video is you explaining why extending rotations is a dps loss in a simple and understandable way. most players don't understand it at all and think things like Sac Kazuha, low ER characters, Yae>Fischl, etc are always the best because they don't realize that by doing a longer rotation, more of their damage is unbuffed. I never thought of a simple way to explain it like that, so I am glad you mentioned it here.
For almost two years, I’ve prayed to get Diluc. It’s like almost everyone who played Genshin the first day it was released was able to get Diluc. 😢

On my main account I got diluc as my first 5* I made another account a couple days ago got diluc in my first novice 10pull :D you have had some bad luck.

I use Diluc on my 2nd account and the Wolf's Gravestone dropped (Standard) 3 days before I got Diluc (feature banner). Even if a better weapon comes out for him I will always use the Gravestone. He hits hard and looks good doing it. Especially with the new skin. :)

great guide! diluc is my favorite character so when I finally got him I triple crowned him straight away lol. fingers crossed i pull a wolves gravestone one day for him, but for the time being he slaps with the serpent spine! my diluc runs 2pc cw and 2pc glad, mostly cause it feels like i benefit more from that build over a straight 4pc cw set.
Diluc was my first 5*, and I got R4 Wallet's Gravestone while pulling for Song of Broken Wallets. I've also been getting him a lot when losing 50/50, so I figure I might as well use him. He did good work in the latest Abyss 11 run, what with all the cryo enemies and the 75% pyro bonus.
You should rename the 5* star weapons, these are better.
+1 for mentioning Overvape team. I recently did some gcsims for it out of curiosity and was surprised on how well it performed in the simulator. Wouldn't recommend it on mobbing content due to high KB but will probably perform well against bosses.
The 1st ever 5* I wanted to have and got him after like 6 months in and recently triple crowned him
He's c1 and crit ratio of 65:163 with ARCHAIC
And he's doing really well in abyss as well

@@evan_wang i go with diluc,bennet,yunjin and zhongli,i have a lack of healing yes,bennet doesn't make the full healing,but having bennet and yunjin buffing diluc in general makes him really strong,my only problem in abyss was the serpent but timing skill and burst makes it possible

Thank you for sharing this! I've been a Kaeya main (and still am) but getting Blizzard Strayer has been a challenge. I've really enjoyed Diluc before I got to this point and hes become my best at attempting it. I'm glad I'll be able to get him better now so I can truly turn both of them into my key characters

I used to use Diluc in a vape team but ever since I tried melt, it suprisingly a deals a lot more damage than I thought (for me his burst jumped from 50k-70k). Even though he's not the best pyro dps, it shows me how much knowledge I'm lacking and I think experimenting is crucial because it's a lot more fun than you thought!
I've made him deal 100k with Kazuha, Rosaria and Bennett. That was so satisfying

He deals more damage himself because melt has a higher multiplier than vape. But the team damage will most likely be higher with vape teams . Hydro aura stays longer so you're more likely to proc the reaction and Xingqiu/Yelan deal more damage than Kaeya/Rosaria

I have Diluc and the Unforged, I also have a C6 Diona and I wanna say it’s like these two units were made with each other in mind especially with Unforged
Diona provides great shielding, healing, Cryo application, energy and other supportive benefits like Stamina cost reduction and EM, Diluc, especially at high constellations wants a shielder, both to proc his C2 and help out with shield based weapon passives (side note: this makes Diluc a Cryo Enemy’s worst nightmare as he’s super effective against them and they’re dealing very little damage to his hyper resistant Cryo shield), he wants a healer as they’re always nice to have, he wants EM from her C6 and the Noblesse buff too, he wants the Cryo application from her burst AND he also really appreciates the Stamina consumption buffs and especially the movement speed buff as that allows Diluc to dragon strike consistently without Double Anemo which just isn’t viable, it’s a massive amount of buffs for one character that makes me think she might be better than Bennett in some situations, she also works super well with Bennett as he can use 4pc Instructors to both port off more buffs to Diluc and provide the busted pyro resonance, something for an Anemo unit to swirl AND that stupidly high attack buff, Bennett’s healing is also stupid (and will let Diluc take constant advantage of Diona’s C6) and Diona’s will just top it off, these two bursts together make 320 EM, 20% ATK and up to like 1100 Flat attack for Diluc
My main rotation is (with Kazuha) Bennett E, Kazu E, Diona Hold E (x2 with Sac) and Q, Kazu Q, Bennett Q (this way you swirl Cryo, not pyro, plus Bennett’s burst will react triggering instructors) and Diluc Q then just damage with Diluc till you feel the rotation has ended and repeat, the only downside with this is these 3 characters create a Spicy cocktail of death with all 3 of those small radius bursts, honestly because of this the rotation is only good against bosses and elites with huge stagger resistance thanks to Diluc being the one character in the game capable of pushing every enemy outside of this radius they’re supposed to be inside, it’s also super difficult to fully utilise but super satisfying to pull off

Diluc is my first dps in Genshin. He was the reason i started to fall in love with Genshin Impact. I whale quite a bit on the game. But somehow, Diluc keeps skipping me, I have c6 Keqing (pull 2 more after c6), c5 Mona, c5 Jean, but C1 Diluc and C1 Qiqi (thanks goodness!). I hope Diluc come home whenever I fail 50/50

Diluc was my first crush in genshin. But in a year of playing, I never got him even once.

Dunno if anyone else will read this, but another free to play option would be the 3 star Debate Club, since not only does it add more overall damage with its substat, but due to Diluc's play style, you can constantly proc the club's passive (which does aoe physical damage once to hit something after using your skill) with the 2n+e combo. So for those who have a problem getting billets to get the prototype archaic, the debate club may be a good to probably a better alternative.
This is refreshing! Im a returning player AR 47 and have been catching up on artifacts so far. I love Diluc because of his engaging combat skills (you can literally juggle foes with his strikes) also he’s my very first unit from a wish from way back :) I can’t wait to get him on pyro dmg and crit/cdmg

I ran out of artifact space and decided it was time to rebuild Diluc. Somehow he ended up exactly the same with just a smidge more EM, but at least I actually knew what to look for this time around with the help of this video. Thanks!

Skyward pride imo is underestimated. With the secondary stat which is ER at 33% everyone says it's trash but combined with artifact substats with a total of 150% er or more, you can almost spam his ulti and do basic attacks enfused with pyro damage + extra wind blade damage @80% of your base damage.

The Sacrificial Great Sword isn't a bad option for him either. Each of the 3 elemental attacks has a chance to proc an instant CD on the whole thing. It's a really on the fly change to rotations every 30 seconds of combat but can create great burst damage depending on how you combo it with 6 elemental attacks in a row.

I think Diluc is one of the most fun DPS in the game. Itto & Xiao are also up there for me.
I got WGS on my main on Feb 2021 (the infamous Tectone banner). I only got Diluc until April this year. That said, I built him to 9/9/9 and had a blast on this abyss with him.
I've been a Diluc main since I got him from the standard banner, during Zhongli and Ganyu rerun banners. I've been waiting for him for a year and now I get to main him! And I've saved for his skin as well~~ Yes the crimson witch was a pain to farm but rn I have pretty decent pieces and decent Crit Rate & Crit damage ratio. I really enjoy playing him and I love seeing his burst, so much that I mostly accidentally cast it haha. Oh and I've triple crowned him as well! I do wish I get constellations of him tho.

*Just a tip*
When using diluc burst go back a few steps and then burst. This is more useful than normal burst because the bird does more damage when it sprint upwards.
If u buff his burst with Bennet ult he can do more than 100k

I have finally got him today on the standard banner, he was my 1st Genshin crush 3-4years ago when i just started.
My favorite character!! YES! CW domain is a pain to farm but I am determined to give Diluc the best stats/artifacts that I can get. I just need to give him a little more c.rate then I will be satisfied. I use him in a melt team (kaeya-diona-kazuha). That mono pyro team looks fun, I'll try that! ☺️

The crimson witch domain doesn't want to give me atk sands so I just memed diluc and used ER and skyward pride, at least negative energy problem despite no damage.
Diluc and his Wolfstone Greatsword were actually my first two 5-star pulls, done consecutively. I was *very* happy when it happened, back at launch. I dropped out of the game for a while and am now playing again, but struggling to figure out how to build, so this helped, thank you!
Though I am using a Jean, Ayato and Mona combo, I'm starting to think I've made bad choices...
The problem with Diluc is that has never appeared in a promotional banner. So you can have lots of Qiqi, Mona, Jean and Keqing and 0 Diluc if you are as lucky as me after almost 2 years of playing. Diluc in my cas is more difficult to get than Lisa or Kaeya constellations...
I feel this so much. I wish Hoyoverse would have placed a banner for him too. Especially that he is getting a skin.

(This team comp actually has more dps than Hu Tao comps but is way more difficult than learning to CA cancel with a c0 Hu Tao or just pew pew pew with Yoimiya)
His highest dps ceiling comps is the Dragonstrike Melt, can do over 270k per plunge, you need Diona to increase the movement speed tho

I’ve been playing Diluc on and off since I got him (he was my first pity breaker back in 1.3) but with his skin I decided to try and main him again, I’ve been playing an overload team with him and Electro Aether and it’s been a ton of fun!
As a hutao main I just pulled him for the first time

As a non-Hu Tao-owner, diluc is my go-to pyro dps for ages.
I generally prefer fun over meta and he is definitely one of those characters. I will try to get hu tao though, someday
