I've noticed that so many of the new catalysts we've been getting lately would be INCREDIBLE on Mona and even make her more viable as a Main DPS or Driver in a lot of comps. This guide is great to see! :D
I haven't played Genshin in a while, but my problem was always that I always felt like Kokomi is just a strictly better driver for something like EC as she covers the sustain role as well. Mona's damage contribution mostly only shines in freeze teams anyway, and those are usually better off with a cryo damage dealer on the field most of the time. Got this guide in my recommendations so I've been watching it to see if anything changed, but it doesn't seem that way.

3.5 years later I finally learn what Mona's burst does lol. Even back when she was meta, I just knew her burst was good but not how, so I used her burst whenever and never knew if it was vaporizing the big hit or not. Never use her these days but Diluc and her are racing to be my first C6 5 star 😂
Mona and Xinyan have some amusing synergy in Burgeon teams. With Xinyan's shield pulse you can trigger Dendro Cores and Burgeon by spamming Mona's dash.
the problem is if you're building xinyan for burgeon then you will have to go full em = really weak shield, so basically 1 hit and thats it, no shield = no burgeon
@@min2913Scara is a pretty straighforward dps, TTDS with Nobless on her is already good. If you have other party member holding Noblesse then you can go for EoSF for ER and even Instructor set for reaction-based support

This is by far the best explanation guide I've found on any character from any UA-camr. Most focus on how to optimize the numbers and dmg potential but don't go in depth into how mechanically the moveset works, what reactions are triggered and how to take advantage of the character.
Mona has always been one of my mains. I know it's not optimal, but she's so fun to use as a main DPS. Nymph's Dream was a great addition for me - and pulling Neuv's catalyst was a blessing since it somewhat works with her kit's meaty charged attacks - my Crit Ratio is 78/182

Big thanks for this, Ms. Sevy! I am always puzzled on how to fully utilize Mona's burst, so I built her as an on-field agile DPS (also to bring more value of her C2 attacks). I'd like to share that an on-field Mona build with decent attack speed is fun and a bit dynamic. And with the smooth control of Mona's alt sprint, the Wine & Song weapon becomes a good choice for this build.

Ive heard that Mona might make an appearance in 4.2 archon quest and apparently her voice can be heard in the 4.2 version trailer. Its fitting in a sense that she gets an update guide right before the 4.2 patch lol
YES YES finally someone is doing a recent guide for her. She was, is and forever will be best girl. ❤ I must say tho...I really dislike her censured Outfit. And no, its not because its less horny...its rather because it doesnt match her being an astrologist very well. The OG Outfit was clearly made with the calm night sky in mind. The colours fit perfectly and it was just smooth. The new one however has way to much stuff going on. Your eyes dont know where to rest while looking at her. And the colours changed too for some reason ... they now are way to bright to resemble that beautiful calm night sky. Thats at least my take on the matter. Edit: I think you are the first who explained why the bubble does not pop on certain enemies. You really did a good job there.

I’m grateful for this guide, as a relatively new player, started well after the addition of dendro, most guides from the original characters are so old and out of date that I’m not even sure if they still hold up. This is the best explanation of Mona's omen I've seen! I knew that freeze extends the omen's duration, but I never knew that it is due to its stagger resistance mechanic. It actually makes so much more sense now

The characters are described in great detail, yet explained in a simple way so that everyone can understand even the most difficult game mechanics (which the creators themselves cannot describe well apparently, like with the omen duration). One team you forgot to mention is Hu Tao double hydro replacing yelan. Xinqui can easily battery Mona with sac sword and you get the 60% damage buff instantly instead over a set duration

Nah The true redemption is Jean the only way Qiqi can work with furina is if during her burst you switch with all your characters and have them hit enemies inflicted with qiqis burst to heal up both being energy hungry is gonna be painful to run

Every rotation needs you to switch to your supports and use their skills to generate energy, therefore they will hit the enemies and get healed instantly, it doesn't matter whether that healing comes at once or one by one as long as you get the stacks by the time you switch to your dps. + Qiqi will continue to heal A LOT after that, which mean higher survivability. And the ER problem can be solved easily with Fav, Qiqi heals like crazy even with ER build. . + Driver Qiqi, especially in hyperfridge, in simply insane! Furina solves every single issue in Qiqi's kit and Qiqi gains Furina's stacks so fast! They synergize so well! Qiqi will be using Sac so no long CD, she doesn't even need her burst so no ER issues, she will apply cryo consistently for 100% of the time so no more "not good application", and she will deal good dmg with Clam set that can be increased with Superconduct, on top of her normal attacks that will get buffed by Furina. . People should stop sleeping on her just because of the overused 50/50 memes, Jean did get a better improvment but Qiqi did get a great improvment as well, she instantly jumped 1 or 2 tiers in meta.

(Has always been tho) She works well as the off-field healer in most Furina teams, mainly the freeze teams, if your dps doesn't need much ER (Wriothesley/Ganyu) or if you have enough ER on them (Ayaka) Qiqi is the best choice! Jean/Shenhe due is better for more dmg but Qiqi/Kazuha due is better for Kazuha's crowd control and Qiqi's higher survivability, Charlotte is the best if you need ER, but Qiqi is the best if you have enough. . Her best use isn't even as an off-field healer, but as an on-field driver, with Sac sword and Clam set she can be one of the (well, actually the) best driver for Furina. She heals, apllies consistent Cryo, has fast attacks, and deals good dmg with Clam set and/or dps build. Hyperfridge is probably her best team, with Furina, Nahida, and Raiden. Qiqi will be healing, driving with her fast NAs, applying cryo (cryo help making more blooms), and dealing good dmg. You should definitely try it! You can also try pretty much any team with off-field dmg dealers (Freeze with Yelan and Xingqiu, cryo dps Qiqi with Chongyun and Shenhe, physical dps Qiqi with any physical buffers...etc). . Have fun playing with our cute little zombie! ^^

I was thinking about cryo infused Qiqi with Chongy boy since I love him too! Not sure how viable that freeze team would be in abbyss scenarios but only time will tell ahah!

Mona is an amazing character. It baffles me players don't put her on the same pedestal as Bennet or Kokomi. A well built mona can burst almost every rotation and desintegrate the enemy in a second. She gives more EM and crit rate with constellations... She is irreplaceable to me no matter how much time passes. Put her in a team with Nahida and watch the magic happen. It's kinda sad (and childish) that people tend to bench or even "hate" a character simply bc they lost a 50/50 to them and I say that as an f2p.
I love Mona too but I personally don’t think she’s Bennet or Kokomi level. Her buff is way shorter than Benny’s (my fav character 😢 ) and she doesn’t have as much hydro application compared to Kokomi. Personally I think her c2 should be changed (a lot of the og 5 stars should have a rework tho) to give her more skill duration or give her another charge of it bc I hate that random free charge attack. I know her passive talent can give her a free use but it’s so short and it takes field time (if you’re using her for support which I tend to do and I feel like she’s meant to do). She is rlly strong tho, I don’t rlly use her in dendro teams or pyro. I use her with my Wriothesley in freeze.
@@LordJFtw You made pretty valid points! She is in no way a flawless character and her kit could use some mending but overall, I think her role is unique to her. As more characters come out, be it supports or Dps, they become interchangeable. Mona's kit, with all its shortcomings, is unique and pretty effective. I really recommand using her with Nahida, Kuki and Keqing. It's one of my favourite teams :)
@@medbeth9857 I agrée. It’s just so weird that they made the power 5 so strong (especially Benny) and then everyone else was just ok. Diluc and Keqing are décent dps’s while Jean and Mona both have small issues imo.
Mona remains awesome. She is an incredibly flexible hydro character that can fit into damn near any team one can imagine. On top of that I've always loved her movement mechanics and now that she doesn't get stuck on ground elevation anymore it's even better!!!! She is 1 of those characters one needs to actually get used to using and both understand and practice... But if you do she is bloody fantastic.

Absolutely love this guide! Xianyun made me build my benched Hu Tao, and i also built Mona to try to up Hu Tao's plunge vape dmg. I remember getting high dmg numbers, but couldn't replicate it. I severely misunderstood how Mona's burst worked. But now i should be able to consistently do it!
I will be honest, I always loved how Mona just beautifully synergizes with Severed Fate by straight up double dipping with its ER Scaling. Give her Favonius or Oathsworn Eye, or any other ER weapon with mainly ER substats and see how her Hydro Damage% soars to over 100% on top of the massive Burst DMG% she gets from Severed Fate.
I've been running Mona since 1.00 and had her Venti Chongyun and Razor as my team for the longest. 3 years later she is now c4 with R5 Wisdith and I run her with Morgana and my exploration team

I must say tho...I really dislike her censured Outfit. And no, its not because its less horny...its rather because it doesnt match her being an astrologist very well. The OG Outfit was clearly made with the calm night sky in mind. The colours fit perfectly and it was just smooth. The new one however has way to much stuff going on. Your eyes dont know where to rest while looking at her. And the colours changed too for some reason ... they now are way to bright to resemble that beautiful calm night sky.
Thats at least my take on the matter.
Edit: I think you are the first who explained why the bubble does not pop on certain enemies. You really did a good job there.

I’m grateful for this guide, as a relatively new player, started well after the addition of dendro, most guides from the original characters are so old and out of date that I’m not even sure if they still hold up. I would love to see some rehashes of the older characters, if there’s enough different, or maybe a compilation video of some of the old characters. This is the best explanation of Mona's omen I've seen! I knew that freeze extends the omen's duration, but I never knew that it is due to its stagger resistance mechanic. It actually makes so much more sense now

One team you forgot to mention is Hu Tao double hydro replacing yelan. Xinqui can easily battery Mona with sac sword and you get the 60% damage buff instantly instead over a set duration

Mona was my first 5 star, got her from the standard banner. I hated her look and neglected her, but when her new outfit came I loved it. Now she's well build and is oart of my freeze team.

Nah The true redemption is Jean the only way Qiqi can work with furina is if during her burst you switch with all your characters and have them hit enemies inflicted with qiqis burst to heal up both being energy hungry is gonna be painful to run

@@ashleyn_axolotl9766 Qiqi does work well with Furina and she's one of the best healers with her, "you will need to switch to your team" I mean... you will do it either ways, yk? Every rotation needs you to switch to your supports and use their skills to generate energy, therefore they will hit the enemies and get healed instantly, it doesn't matter whether that healing comes at once or one by one as long as you get the stacks by the time you switch to your dps. + Qiqi will continue to heal A LOT after that, which mean higher survivability.
And the ER problem can be solved easily with Fav, Qiqi heals like crazy even with ER build.

+ Driver Qiqi, especially in hyperfridge, in simply insane! Furina solves every single issue in Qiqi's kit and Qiqi gains Furina's stacks so fast! They synergize so well!
Qiqi will be using Sac so no long CD, she doesn't even need her burst so no ER issues, she will apply cryo consistently for 100% of the time so no more "not good application", and she will deal good dmg with Clam set that can be increased with Superconduct, on top of her normal attacks that will get buffed by Furina.

People should stop sleeping on her just because of the overused 50/50 memes, Jean did get a better improvment but Qiqi did get a great improvment as well, she instantly jumped 1 or 2 tiers in meta.

She works well as the off-field healer in most Furina teams, mainly the freeze teams, if your dps doesn't need much ER (Wriothesley/Ganyu) or if you have enough ER on them (Ayaka) Qiqi is the best choice! Jean/Shenhe due is better for more dmg but Qiqi/Kazuha due is better for Kazuha's crowd control and Qiqi's higher survivability, Charlotte is the best if you need ER, but Qiqi is the best if you have enough.

Her best use isn't even as an off-field healer, but as an on-field driver, with Sac sword and Clam set she can be one of the (well, actually the) best driver for Furina.
She heals, apllies consistent Cryo, has fast attacks, and deals good dmg with Clam set and/or dps build.
Hyperfridge is probably her best team, with Furina, Nahida, and Raiden. Qiqi will be healing, driving with her fast NAs, applying cryo (cryo help making more blooms), and dealing good dmg.
You should definitely try it!
You can also try pretty much any team with off-field dmg dealers (Freeze with Yelan and Xingqiu, cryo dps Qiqi with Chongyun and Shenhe, physical dps Qiqi with any physical buffers...etc).

I was thinking about cryo infused Qiqi with Chongy boy since I love him too! Not sure how viable that freeze team would be in abbyss scenarios but only time will tell ahah!

I love mona, she's been my favorite character since day one but it's sad that she got power creeped so hard as a 1.0 character in a 4.3 game
She works wonderfully with Nilou superbloom, especially if she's C2

Mona is an amazing character. It baffles me players don't put her on the same pedestal as Bennet or Kokomi. A well built mona can burst almost every rotation and desintegrate the enemy in a second. She gives more EM and crit rate with constellations... She is irreplaceable to me no matter how much time passes. Put her in a team with Nahida and watch the magic happen. It's kinda sad (and childish) that people tend to bench or even "hate" a character simply bc they lost a 50/50 to them and I say that as an f2p.

I love Mona too but I personally don’t think she’s Bennet or Kokomi level. Her buff is way shorter than Benny’s (my fav character 😢 ) and she doesn’t have as much hydro application compared to Kokomi. Personally I think her c2 should be changed (a lot of the og 5 stars should have a rework tho) to give her more skill duration or give her another charge of it bc I hate that random free charge attack. I know her passive talent can give her a free use but it’s so short and it takes field time (if you’re using her for support which I tend to do and I feel like she’s meant to do). She is rlly strong tho, I don’t rlly use her in dendro teams or pyro. I use her with my Wriothesley in freeze.

@@LordJFtw You made pretty valid points! She is in no way a flawless character and her kit could use some mending but overall, I think her role is unique to her. As more characters come out, be it supports or Dps, they become interchangeable. Mona's kit, with all its shortcomings, is unique and pretty effective. I really recommand using her with Nahida, Kuki and Keqing. It's one of my favourite teams :)
@@medbeth9857 I agrée. It’s just so weird that they made the power 5 so strong (especially Benny) and then everyone else was just ok. Diluc and Keqing are décent dps’s while Jean and Mona both have small issues imo.

Mona remains awesome. She is an incredibly flexible hydro character that can fit into damn near any team one can imagine.
On top of that I've always loved her movement mechanics and now that she doesn't get stuck on ground elevation anymore it's even better!!!!
She is 1 of those characters one needs to actually get used to using and both understand and practice... But if you do she is bloody fantastic.

Xianyun made me build my benched Hu Tao, and i also built Mona to try to up Hu Tao's plunge vape dmg.
I remember getting high dmg numbers, but couldn't replicate it. I severely misunderstood how Mona's burst worked. But now i should be able to consistently do it!

Been playing Mona DPS for years and never saw anyone else mention the poise mechanic, well done!
I will be honest, I always loved how Mona just beautifully synergizes with Severed Fate by straight up double dipping with its ER Scaling. Give her Favonius or Oathsworn Eye, or any other ER weapon with mainly ER substats and see how her Hydro Damage% soars to over 100% on top of the massive Burst DMG% she gets from Severed Fate.
