Oooo the steins are great & love the experimentation with the red & purple glazes! But the peacock platters! OMG They're all beautiful! Amazingly successful fire! Congratulations Matthew & thanks for letting us look over your shoulder! -jw
Love your blue glaze in your cups! Are you willing to share the recipe? Its amazing to see all the beautiful hard work you do. There is more to it than just throwing pots. Lord Bless you and your work Matthew!
You make a great work👍👍👍your are a very sympatical men and you makes your work with heart❤thank you very much, for this wonderful video. Many greets wish you a hobbypottery Woman from Germany! Sorry, i have a very bad english, but i don't need this very day🤭
On a grade of 1 to 10 I'd say that kiln is a 11 ! You're "drip down" is epic especially on that copper red bottle. Lots of beautiful stuff out of that kiln. Congrats !!!!
I liked this vid, all of it, every part of it from the moments that were sped up and the moments that weren't. Making the perfect vid so we could see the individual pieces and not have to endure repitition through the multiples pieces. Viewing each piece was like opening a present. I know. I didn't make them. So how could I feel so connected to them? Something similar to you, their creator? I don't know. But I do. Loved seeing most of the creation of these pieces from the beginning to the end. Thanks.
@@MatthewKellyPottery no problem I love your techniques great Channel just fantastic. They always called me a prodigy when I was a young kid in Junior College throwing and I waited 30 years to get back into it and it came back to me in just a few hours. I'm able to pull up a pound of clay about 12in probably within the first three days not bragging well maybe I'm bragging LOL I've just been so beat down by a medical condition that I have to have something to be proud off LOL
Holy Cow Matthew! I love, love, love those peacock platters. I didn't see you make them. What video was that on? And I am crazy about that ash glaze. Did you show how you make that? Man, I wish I lived closer so I could watch you work.
Everything is beautiful. Have you every glazed any pieces in a way and then fired the pieces upside down?? I’m curious how the glaze would run and dip especially on pieces with roundness And or curves. Might be a great couple of videos for you to do.
Matthew, I love your videos and look forward to many many more. What is that creamy brown clay you’re using? Looks as if it has no grog? I love that you experiment….without experiment there is no greater beauty! Thanks very much!
Nice work! Looks like you really have your glaze process down. Can you do a video about your firing process and method? I’m looking to get a gas kiln going. Just looking for more individual flavors of firing with gas. Do you use an oxygen probe. What type of burners. Up or down draft and why. Firing schedule etc...? Thanks for all the Videos! Are you in the seagrove area?
Hey Matthew, How do you finish the edges of your stamps? ( stars & states ) Do you stamp them out one at a time? Was the glass, grounds or just small pieces? Thanks from Florida, Dan
I let the ornaments dry and then run a needle tool around the edge. I used to sponge them. Either one works. The glass I buy in sheets from hobby lobby and then cut into little squares.
Okay on the red vase you said you spray purple so I don't think you are doing what I think you were doing if that makes sense. You can get that exact same effect with the purple ish if you use 100% Alberta slip and makes about 5% rutile in that's it and if anybody wants to try this at cone 6 Electric simply add 20% Ferro frit 3134 a little milk just perfectly at cone 6 and you'll get a bluish purple haze that is just awesome couldn't be easier
@@MatthewKellyPottery I try probably 7% at cone 10 to match or at least mimic what you get from your spray. I just love your Channel no gimmicks just good tips. So loving the blue peacock platters. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome
Love the texture on the two slab-built boxes for the Mom's birthday !!
Always great seeing the end product. Your work is beautiful as always and the jewelry your wife made looks amazing as well!
Thanks buddy!
gorgeous outcome, never look for perfection. art is found in the imperfections ❤
Didn't realize we're neighbors, hello from Surry County. You do amazing work btw.
Thank you. Hello neighbor.
Those pieces are all stunning. Especially the copper red with the purple! My goodness! I love the blue ones with the swirls - look like leopard print.

Yes I’ll try to remember to show a couple in an upcoming video.
Everything is beautiful.

I have not fired any upside down yet. I’ll consider that. Thanks.

I am currently using Hestia from Highwater. Sorry for the delayed response.

I am in Seagrove. I’ll definitely consider doing a video on the firing process. Thanks for the questions.
Are you using alberta slip with rutile as a layer on some of these. Sure looks like it

Hi, I just found your channel and have been enjoying you videos. Do you use bottle glazed for your red and white glazes or do you use your own recipe?
Sorry for the delayed response. I mix all of my own glazes.
Just finished kiln firing class here at PNW in Seattle. What are the components of the door?
I like how you built your kiln, do you have plans and or a materials cost list you'd be willing to share?
I don’t have plans or parts list but I’d be happy to help with questions. Email me for more detailed questions if you have any.
Again Beautiful peacock bowls tops nice and the bottom as just nice. Do you sell online? Or just at your studio. I missed you last time We wseagrove
I don’t sell online yet, but if you see anything in a video that you like just let me know.
Matthew Kelly Pottery please send me info on the red peacock bowls definitely toasted bottoms. Couple pics johnsworkshop60@gmail.com thanks
Can you add a link to the video where you glazed the peacock platters? They are gorgeous!
I don’t think I videoed that part of the glazing. I’ll consider that next time. Thank you.
GREAT!
I need to buy new shelves, can you tell me the shelve company? Congrats on great firing i
I believe that Saint Gobain makes the advancer shelves and they are sold through Smith Sharpe at kilnshelf.com
Thanks so much. We built our own propane kiln firing at 9,500 feet elevation. Last piece of the puzzle new shelves. Love watching your progress
Great
I've lost all of my glaze recipes!!! I'm sunk
Did you build your gas kiln?
I bought it but it is “homemade” sorry for the delayed response.
What are the dimensions of your gas kiln?
I’ll have to measure when I get home but roughly 32” deep, 40” wide and 48” tall

Did you say 012 or cone 12
Cone 012 is the first cone when I start reduction.
what are cone packs?
Those are pyrometric cones that melt at specific temperatures so we know when the kiln is finished.
You should checl out my pottery teacher who does gas/elec fire mix he call it flash fire Terry Hutchison in Oregon
There are some local potters doing the same. I’ll check him out though.
