I understand you very well. I went through the same frustration of scanning a full day to return home with 200 SDUs. I understood that my fleet is more useful mining and cratering. As the SA team has said many times: one person cannot do everything. That said, I prefer to focus on mining and crafting something that's worth selling... and then I'll buy SDUs.
Fully agree! I have also focused on mining and crafting now. I only play the SDU loop with my Zero to Hero series. And true... sell materials to buy SDUs.
Thanks for saying that and thanks for the way did it! Zero to Hero is a very good way to play, I tried, but we have to stay strong, staratlas team's decisions are like rain, or sun, and we have to deal with it... their interests are not "totally" all players interests, lets say whales are the pillars that hold the temple upright, but we, small players are worshipers!both count! To play a Z to H maybe we should do more than just "play"... maybe reconsider that we can do everything alone...a very long discussion in perspective !!strength and honor!!
Agree... we will have to weather any storm. Enjoy the good times as well. I'll think about that never alone idea! I think I'll have to decide if it's more of a role-play series or if I'm showing the new player HOW to grind using all the avenues available to them.
You make a good point, we should listen and not be too harsh on new/returning players who have been getting frustrated by the SDU thing. Initially I was also dismissive of their complaints, thinking it's just an inability to adapt to changes within the game. Like just get some Lowbies in your fleet if you have problems with travelling back and forth too much. I still think the changes were necessary and good overall, and I believe the upcoming changes are meant to resolve most of the remaining issues with SDU scanning. But I agree it's better to listen and respond kindly to the current criticism and not scare them away, better to keep them within the community. SDUs do need some fixes, and I trust they are coming soon as they have announced. Thanks for all the hard work you do for the community, keep it up! :)
Yes, it's definitely hard to answer the same questions over and over but it's so necessary. And we need to do it with kindness. We'll only keep growing the community if we do this. Thanks for your comment and sharing a bit of your experience!
I think it is doing okay to speak your mind whether positive or negative. We aren't criticizing people. We are analyzing specific aspects of gameplay. Feedback should always be given. The team doesn't have to take the feedback but a community-driven game will be better in the end. Related to gameplan, it is so early in development that things just aren't going to work yet sometimes. Hopefully the team listens to feedback. I totally agree with you that the small player needs to be considered. Not all players can be whales. It needs to be balanced.
With you 100% They've gone away from their original vision I'm getting comments on my Tweets from new players excited to come in and then leaving because of the SDU's issue.
Maybe there should be an account threshold damper for SDU's... making SDU's exponentially harder to get on an account the more they mine above a threshold per day... rather than having players compete with bots for SDU's...
The Star Atlas community has a problem. There is a lot of difference between its members in terms of investment. Many just want to show superiority all the time. Just like in capitalism, I believe that the only solution is to create divided spaces for each type of player, the little ones help each other and the whales measure themselves against each other. Otherwise it only generates envy and bad feelings.
I agree with you my friend. But the big problem is not the bots, but rather the mechanics to obtaining SDU. Before this update the mechanics were already very annoying, now it is unbearable. This task of clicking all the time is killing SAGE Labs, it's not at all fun. And to make things even worse, we spend more resources (10x toolkit cost) and waste a lot of time traveling back and forth in subwarp. The SDU mechanics is awful. Anyway, I'm receiving a lot of complaints about this update and I hope the team makes changes to make the game more fun and with a more balanced economy (not so dependent on SDUs).
Yeah, the toolkit cost was what got me. I am one guys that played Escape Velocity every day so I don't mind a good grind. But it is a deterrent for a lot of players. I am also seeing a lot of those complaints. I hope they have some good fixes they are working on.
Relax man, they are working on a nice way to stop bots...try to mine toolkits...give to the market what the market needs...if you dont have a bot(like me), mine other resources, dont waste your fleet on sdus. ...and relax really its only a game...

Thank you, dude! You're right... we shouldn't be afraid to voice our opinion and experience. Early days for sure. Hope they listen to the little guy.

Yeah, I'm seeing more and more of those kind of comments. We need to turn this around.

That's an interesting idea for sure!

Yes! Chypto is the best! I really hope what I said doesn't offend him in any way. It was all love.

Great point! I'm starting to see this as well, unfortunately. I'll be having fun alongside the smaller players.
