  • Meet Nancy Saggar, a Constable with the West Shore RCMP in B.C. Cst. Saggar was diagnosed with PTSD in 2014 and began seeing a psychologist after she experienced a mental health crisis while investigating a horrific file involving child sexual assault. She is a vocal advocate for de-stigmatizing mental health issues and for police speaking up when they need help, instead of trying to convince themselves that they’re fine - especially given the number of traumatic events that Members face throughout their careers. Embarrassment and shame can lead trauma survivors to withdraw or keep quiet about what they’re experiencing. However, this can backfire and leave them feeling isolated and unsupported - worsening the problem. By seeking treatment, Cst. Saggar was able to regain control of her life and her career.
