To be honest, standard brakes are not so bad on modern BMW. I tracked my stock F20 and the stopping power was strong and pretty generous laps over laps, I was very surprised. My honda cooked the brakes in few minutes
BMW has record sales so the leadership must be doing something right. Keep in mind the vast majority of BMW customers aren’t car enthusiasts. They‘ll prefer more boot space over RWD.
its basically the old 118d, which had previously around 150hp now up to 160hp. BMW also did it with the 530d which is now the 540d and the old 540d is gone. Its just marketing really, bigger number equals better to most people who don't know any better.
It's the 118i petrol 3 cylinder under the 120i name. But my f20 '19 125i B48 should be a 6 cylinder by the older standards but it's a 4 cylinder. I think overall BMW are making the best out of a very bad situation by the industry. The new 135i is just my b48 tuned higher, which it should be a straight 6 by normal standards. :/
I have a F20 120i. B48, 184hp, manual. This F70 seems to be a good car, but far from a BMW in my opinion. This is a big Mini in BMW dress now. No more RWD is so sad. Ergonomic is going down and this car inspires more "lifestyle" than anything else
After watching this video I walked down to the parking lot, got in my manual F21 125i, drove to the gas station, and gave her a nice 20-liter drink of Aral Super102.

@buca9696 it is. I had a brand new 2 series for a day because my 4 series was there for the inspection. I was a bit surprised how cheap most materials felt. It was also the loudest car I have ever driven. So much wind and road noise.

Compared to what? What similar new cars have nicer interiors? I checked most of them, and in real life this 1 series really feels premium compared to an Astra or a Golf. Because these are the cars you should compare it to, not a 4 series.
I work for a BMW main dealer, these F70’s really depend on how they are specced, the M Sport Pro pack makes them look a bit better. Seeing a good lot of these at work recently and they have started to grow on me, I currently have a F40 118i and I will be getting a F70 120(i)as part of my job, so i’ll have some time to understand this car.

The older F20s 1 series were sporty cars dressed as hatchbacks! Today it’s just a regular fwd family hatch made for grocery shopping and dropping kids at school, 163 is more than enough for that.
This 1 series only makes sense as an 135. Otherwise there are plenty of competitors that offer way more value for money. Also a Dacia Duster comes with Contenentals and this BMW with Maxxis come on!
the interiour designer surely struggled to give the 1 series an even cheaper appearance than the current 5 series, but man they succeeded! im a BMW guy but dont ask me about the latest generation...😵💫
I can assure you the new 5 does not feel cheap at all, or even look cheap when you actually sit in it. All the materials feel expensive, all the things you touch feel good. The only place that does not, is the inside of the door pockets, yet stuff in there like my water bottle for example, does not rattle. Also the seats feel really nice and the infotainment works great while being easy to use. Also the new 5, at least the i5 has the same ride quality of a 7-series and that came from a person who owns the new 7-series. I can assure you that the new 5 is better than the old one.
You can blame the EU and their shitty politics and emission regulation. You cannot blame BMW for it. Now if most of BMW:s cars sold were electric, then all the gasoline/diesel would have bigger and more powerful engines. It is the emission regulations that are to blame.

Kia.. focus... get inside the car and you will feel the difference, test drove a35, golf r mk8, audi s3 facelift and the 135 felt much better place to be in. Definitely better tech and the quality of the cabin throughout then the aforementioned. Im not going to look at KIa for comparisson, will leave it to you

How technology has advanced. In the early 90’s I owned 3 E46 3 series BMW’s with 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engines which had an output of 170 ps. Rolling forward to today and BMW have a 3 cylinder knocking out the same power output🤯
The feature this has, that no competitor can keep up with is the full BMW Driving assistant professional. In fact, this car's assisted driving is on par with that of the 7 series (apart from the Highway assistant, which isn't available) This is a perfect little mile crusher, but you need to get the Driving assistant professional

Basically people who didn’t drive it dislike it for looking like a Kia on the outside, while people who actually drove it, agree that it drives great for this segment and price/lease rate range. New car buyers will actually cross shop this against a Focus or indeed a Kia or a Golf/A3 and not a used 6 cylinders 3 series.
About the "distressed fish look" I don't think the exterior design us much as egregious as the fact that this thing doesn't have a single physical button on the inside.
I had a Daewoo Matiz as my second car. It had three cylinders, you can have three cylinders in this car but not in a BMW!! Soon BMW will make cars with only one cylinder!! Good times when I had the M3 E36 3000 cc 286 hp.
@nikitamarynich1794 I drove M5 F90 and saw M5 G90 in the showroom. G90 interior and seat quality is noticably lower than on F90 generation. I also saw Škoda Octavia, and it leaves the impression that interior is better quality even than on M5 G90. Also, why would anyone buy BMW 1 series, when for the lesser price you can get VW Golf with the same power, more space in the interior, with the similar quality. It is really a shame what BMW is doing now. My point is that such low quality is not acceptable on a car with a list price of 140000 EUR. Due to the trunk size reduction on M5, one can just simply go for the Porsche Panamera for the overall similar price and on non hybrid models get same performance as on M5 F90.

A friend of mine works in BMW and has the same model as service car. I think it looks bad but it drives amazingly.
