    Many many years ago I clearly chose Crosman over a Gamo breakbarrel.. Never regretted my .177 Crosman Phantom, which shoots fantastic.. But, nowadays; I'd absolutely go with a Gamo Swarm breakbarrel over something like this rifle featured here..

    I purchased a Steel eagle a number of years ago and I had high hopes it was going to be a real step forward for Crosman, turned out to be the only rifle I couldn't get to shoot well in my life time. Not at all on both fronts. This was out of my pocket. I paid for the gun, editing, and publishing. I received nothing for it. Same will be true for the Hatsan Speed Fire that I’ll do next.
      I had no agenda. Had it shot well I would have been pleased to show it doing so. Competition is good for consumers. If anyone creates something that competes on usability, performance, and accuracy to challenge Gamo I’ll be thrilled.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  Рік тому +1

      Totally depends on the gun. Modern, decent guns work right out of the box. Break in is also not what it used to be. Most guns just shoot without the old school methods. I have not seen any real advantage in cleaning and break in over just shooting it as it comes out of the box. There are always exceptions to that, but with what I’ve been shooting, it’s been all good.

    Seems to be a lot of crosman butthurt here. Note on the triggers, the bearing mod alone just reduces pretravel and does not reduce the safety of the mechanism. Besides that, i can say from my own experience that gamos have consistently improved upon themselves over the last 15 years while crosman has remained the same old pigs in fancier, cheaper, more tacticool dress. Even their centerpoint brand scopes have gone down the toilet since they dumped leapers as their manufacturer in 2012. Gamo is not my absolute favorite, and i personally have no use for the swarm mech, but they absolutely blow crosman/benjamin out of the water in value and performance.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  Рік тому +4

      Think what you want.. I really don't care.. but for the sake of those that will read your comment and not understand the point of this video and how I work, I will reply. I went into this as any person buying it off the street would experience. That's what I do with ALL my out of the box videos. I get to the other stuff, i.e. extensive pellet testing, etc., after the out of the box portion. 90% of what we get in these days just works.. right out of the box. no break in needed, no barrel cleaning needed, no fuss. That alone needs to be part of the discussion. Velocity is not going to improve with break in.. it will get slower. Accuray "might" improve, but after 15 years of doing this.. When a gun shoots like this out of the box, it's not getting better no matter how much you shoot it to "break it in." It's possible that sitting has impacted the gas ram... that's also a discussion to have. I've had more gas rams fail just sitting in a gun case, than I ever had metal springs fail, even when cocked for long periods of time.
      Additionally, you have ZERO idea of the time I spent off camera (it was hours) doing whatever I could to try and make this gun shoot well. It's been a very long time since I've had a Gamo shoot this poorly out of the box, maybe never. It's why I said maybe I have a bad gun?? All my emails to crosman (in the past) go unanswered.. I'd be more than pleased to take another look at another one and see if this one was just a dud.
      So again.. think what you want.. say what you want, but the premises and assumptions of your comment were just wrong.
      Cheers

    Ok wish I would have seen this review earlier, my first air gun when I got back into them was the MAG-FIRE in a .177 ... Had the same problem, clean the barrel and all. What I found out is (before I got sick), Is that the baffle system in it is a poor design... the flip back and forth, with no were for the air to go... (the Benjamin Prowler has the same design...) that one does not shoot good either... What I end up doing is drilling relief holes in the shroud... 4 on the top pointing at an angle forward like an air stripper, 3 on each side on the 1st 3 indented slots... now I measured them out, so they matched the baffle pointing out in the shroud... The groupings got a lot better, however still only a 10/15-yard air gun... Seen you-tube later were someone just drilled out the 4 dented slots at the end of the muzzle... will be trying that on the Benjamin... FYI the Benjamin trail has a different baffle... but has different threading and will not screw on the MAG-FIRE or Benjamin Prowler... All in all, almost gave up on air gunning because of this non-American made air gun.... JUST SAYING... Big C 😎, FYI my $70 Gamo Rocket (Real springer,) will shoot rings around the Crosman...👍

    Ive had the same pellet sizing issue with crosman pellets, using a sig sauer brand pellet gun, the pellets kept falling through the mag.
    Also, crosman website currently lists this guns FPS as 1,300, which seemed high to me, and in all the reviews ive seen the highest it reaches was ~730, so ~500 with whatever grain those might've been could make sense. What a bummer, i always thought of crosman as being a really great brand as a kid.

      Those shots were after we cleaned the barrel..... and when needed, we always do. We show out-of-the-box results. If those are not up to expectations, then we do what we need to try and get it shooting as it should.. 95 out of 100 guns don't need anything to shoot like they should. Had the Vaporizer for Pest control and it was a powerful rifle but man alive it was pellet PICKY! I recommend Gamo and save up for a more expensive scope and you’ll be content 👍
