3 training : qualysguard training . Get an understanding and certification
Thank you for the summary
Perfect work!

Thank you 🫡
Saw your video, 3 months in, got a Compliance Specialist interview with Cisco. Thank you man and God bless!
How???
4:45 Three Different Roles Within Vulnerability Management:
- Vulnerability Scanner Operator (semi tech)
Run scans and make sure it runs successfully
- Security Analyst - review the vulnerabilities and provide recommendations
- Compliance Analyst- least tech of them all. Make sure scans were ran on time and make sure vulnerabilities were addressed within the company’s policy (completed within certain days)
great notes, I came back to the video to re-watch and take my own notes.
@LUNGELO PHINDA Sithole FREE! I am currently doing Compliance Analyst training. I am a note-taker so it takes me a while to finish. There will be some quizzes you have to take during the training and you have to make a 75% to pass, but they are not hard if you take notes.

Your ability to explain this is amazing! Clear/ concise. I have then comp books and I’m so lost. Watching UA-cam videos is much easier to understand sadly.
I think it is a bit of a misconception that compliance/risk analysis doesn’t require technical skills. You may not be managing systems but you must understand the technical aspects of the enterprise. You are likely going to have to conduct internal audits - almost to Pentesting level. You need to understand what is happening against prescriptive standards like ISO 27002 or PCI/DSS.

By far … one of the best videos I have seen for people like myself just curious and need clarity..
I am in a technology audit department at a large bank. I started to laugh once you got to the third role and emphasized how non-technical compliance/risk/audit roles are (laughs)! It is true in comparison to any engineering oriented role, but just so folks are aware, you still have to be somewhat technical (at least understanding conceptually, how computers, networks, interfaces etc. work), have a formal education in some related field of study (information management systems, accounting, etc.) and work your way up from junior to at least senior or manager level before you can command a 6 figure salary (in most cases.. on the other hand, if you work for a cash rich tech firm in a major city in the US, you might be making close to 6 figures with an entry level job, but obviously these roles are competitive and typically targetted towards young professionals fresh out of university). Just some perspective from someone in this field. BUT I have audited Qualys before and had no idea they offered free certifications! I am definitely going to do that. Thanks for the tip @Boyd!
Hi! Can I message you for a referral if you don't mind? I'm currently exploring new opportunities :)
Cyber Security Engineer and analyst speaking with 6+ years of SOC experience, 14 years IT experience. Speaking for myself and others in my field it's quite common for non-college graduates to command 6 figure salaries. Degrees help but certifications and experience usually determine your salary. Videos like this are good for people to gain awareness and possible entry into various fields.
@@DracosFire2024 interesting, do you live in the U.S.? I’m a decade into my career, have worked for Big 4 firms, in house tech risk management for tech firms and IA at banks-mostly in the US but a bit in Europe. I’ve never met someone doing this work, that I know of, without a college degree. Certifications are certainly critical but not cheap and I’d imagine not easy to pass without also some work experience but who knows, I’m sure people have founds ways. In general, from all I’ve seen, it’s a much higher barrier to entry than is suggested in the video but I do encourage people to learn these things and see if they can get in the door somewhere!

Seriously a god sent! Talk about perfect timing- ty, ty, ty
The main reason for the vulnerability scanner phase in Penetration Testing or Red Teaming is to know the target weaknesses in the system and address these weaknesses ASAP. And the target is usually your client. However, suppose you use only the basic tools with untrained staff who don't understand the computer and Network architecture and the basics of cyber security operations. You will lose any future contract with the client, and you are putting other people's data at risk of cyber attacks.
Yesss! I totally agree with your comment. I am a security analyst and vulnerability and compliance analyst are mostly managerial roles or someone who has lots of experience. This guy has everyone fooled.

As soon as he said "No technical skills required," I immediately thought of the Equifax breach when a person with a Masters in music was made the Chief Security Officer.
Anyone who takes this advice and thinks they'll be put in charge of vulnerability scanning by simply having a certification that, according to this video, only takes a week or even 24 hours, and no technical skills, is absolutely delusional. 11 out of 10 times they'll be stuck in the application phase, companies will always go for someone with a technical background and experience.
As a matter of fact, it's been nine months since this video was posted. How many people should've gotten their certifications and hired by now, the vulnerability management market must be flooded with candidates at this point.

not many jobs for either of those roles. Just did a job search for all of those mentioned
This is right on time! I just earned my Security+ a few days ago and I was told to go for a help desk job. Thank you for the great information!
How did you study for it?
I learned a lot from this video, thank you for the insight and the time to take to make this video! Had no idea about the roles of Vulnerability management roles.
I am really interested entering into the Cybersecurity industry. I fear I needed to invest a lot of time & money without knowing the outcome. I read the average time it takes to get your first cyber job is 2-4 years! Not sure I can sacrifice that time at my current age. At least with your tips, I can aim for 6 months. I'm very glad stumbling upon your channel!
If you are looking to do something that makes your life better there is no age limit.

Thatnk you! I've been addressing "cyber security" issues for nearly two decades, but only recently started nudging towards pay commensurate with my skills and experience, still considerably a good distance, but happy. I'm going to share this video with my sons and daughters. I needed this 10 years ago, and it is timely now.
Best of luck to y'all!
@@BoydClewis I don’t understand the reason behind having to create a go daddy domain. Is there no other way to get to the training?
