    first indycar race ive been to in 10 years. absolutely fantastic race. glad no one was hurt in all those wrecks. (also fun fact: Power's dominance was a record breaker for laps led. the previous record was by Sam Hornish, who won the other race i went to in 2007. lol)

    Helmet cams are WOW.. F1 need those. I want to get in to Indycar but I don't like ovals.. I like the road circuits, is that what you call them? The ones with varieties in corners and straights. So I like it when they race there. It's a very fan involved sport. I hate the number of crashes at ovals. When they happen it's over for their race.. if they touch at road courses.. they can survive sometimes. It's a contact sport at the ovals.. like open wheel nascars. I don't know anything about NASCAR though.

      Ian McFarland the last laps were great here.. still so much risk that can be lost by another driver's mistake.

      Road America next? Good. I love that track. I play 'project cars' on that track in Indycar and it's great fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.

      I understand what you're saying, but I have the opposite view. I prefer the ovals for the wheel-to-wheel competition and strategy of multiple grooves on the track. Too often the road circuits turn into the equivalent of watching a freight train wind its way around; with little opportunity for passing or dueling in the time-honored fashion. NASCAR's Truck Series is a total contact sport, and it's some of the best racing one can watch as a result. The main series is more refined, to its detriment.

      D Snodgrass it was good at the end when it was a drag race and the leader would hold the inside... lose what looked like the lead but then gain back the lead the following corner. I just think it's a shame when you are taken out.. these cars can not do too much contact.. they touch, they go off and take out two or three others with them. its fun but if you follow a driver it must be heartbreaking to witness them going out through no fault if their own. seemed like a race of attrition, luck and patience. and yes skill.

    Vautier knows how to race here, that's for sure!!! Wish he could of finished. This was one of the most intense races ever and I honestly think if you want to whinge about 3 wide and pack racing then give up on oval racing, it's not for you.

    While I am a fan of Will Power and happy to see him win, that is nothing compared to how relieved I am that this race is over. WHAT ARE THESE DRIVERS DOING?! THIS IS CRAZY! I've said it many times the last few years, IndyCar SHOULD NOT be racing at tracks like Texas Motor Speedway. I wasn't watching back in 2003, but after seeing the video of Kenny Bräck's crash at this track, I'm surprised that IndyCar would continue racing here even after a HORRIFIC crash like that. I do feel that IndyCar should continue to race on oval tracks, because that is where they originally started racing before they extended to road courses and street circuits. But if they are going to race on ovals, they race on ovals that allow drivers more time for reaction to crashes and make sure that the cars ARE NOT BUNCH UP TOGETHER like we saw in this race. I really liked IndyCar at Fontana, but the pack race in 2015 really caught me by surprise! What cause the cars to bunch up like that? The racing at that track wasn't like that from 2012 to 2014. I feel like if they can race at tracks like Richmond and bring back the Milwaukee Mile, that would be nice! I still have my concerns on safety, but I really look forward to the race at Gateway! That should be interesting! The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is bigger and has faster speeds than Texas Motor Speedway, and a lot of the crashes that we saw in the 500 were almost DISASTROUS! It's a miracle that the drivers dodged bullets in those crashes. But compared to Indianapolis, Texas has high speeds and basically NO ROOM FOR ERROR. One minor blip is like pulling the pin on a grenade! If IndyCar continues to race at a track like this, and if they keep having accidents like what we saw in this race, someone is going to get hurt... or worse than that!

    "Competition Caution" with ~20 to go? WTF.

    • @Db_SpaceFace
      @Db_SpaceFace 5 місяців тому

      This was the first race on a newly repaved & reconfigured track. Firestone (the spec tyre supplier) messed up their choice of rubber. The tyres were blistering and failing half-way through a fuel run (which is super dangerous on a high-speed oval), so Firestone & Indycar decided the teams should change them every 30 laps (about 25 laps short of a normal fuel run). Because they had no rules in place to force teams to change tyres at certain points (they do now for safety situations like this), they did the next best thing and threw a caution after 30 laps of green. No team is going to skip pitting under yellow on an oval after 30 laps (except for strategic reasons in a normal race, which are void when you know there will be another one in 30 laps after you go green).
      That's what the "competition" cautions were. It was a safety thing due to tyre failures on the night.

    @MetalMJ 7 років тому

    Surely there is an argument after 14/15 of 22 cars get destroyed in accidents that they shouldn't be racing here.
    Also why give Kanaan a two lap penalty if you're going to allow him back on the lead lap by throwing competition cautions, essentially a total non-penalty after he took out a third of the field...

    TK please do your indycar family and us fans a favor. RETIRE! He destroyed 11 cars and cost the indycar family millions of dollars. Its a huge deal for smaller teams trying to survive with limited sponsor money. I don't think sponsors would like their decals being blown up and burned on live television.

    ENDING ON YELLOWS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

    • @BeauFiftyTwo
      @BeauFiftyTwo 7 років тому +22

      Ben John Disagree. Anything other than a yellow at this point is race fixing. You have an advertised distance, and you can't just apply your rules inconsistently.
      Ending under yellow is honest. I want to watch honest racing.

    • @Shark2497
      @Shark2497 7 років тому +7

      The race should go the scheduled distance, this race ended the way it should have based on the circumstances, under yellow.
      Also other than stock car racing in North America, I believe nobody else uses "overtime" racing. No wonder why the rest of the world think us Americans are weird.

    • @DCTib
      @DCTib 7 років тому +12

      Ben John Green-white-checker finishes ruin the fairness of the race. Guys who don't deserve to win often take advantage for any various reason. NASCAR screwed Carl Edwards several times. I believe that's one of the reasons he doesn't race anymore.

      I attended this race, this was the biggest let down, a crash as far as 5 to go from the finish should NOT end the race. It was an awesome race, epic action the whole day, side by side, pack racing, many incidents, really enjoyed it. But IndyCar REALLY needs to implement the Green White Checkered system. The only thing this race was missing was a photo finish, and with the way they were racing, it probably was going to happen!

  • @5v4al
    @5v4al 7 років тому +6

    Yes it's amazing, but I don't want to see pack racing in IndyCar ever again. To the people saying they want this next year and that it was the best race ever: watch the driver interviews after Dan Wheldon's death was announced at Las Vegas 2011. It's a spectacle that isn't worth the risk. Please don't do this next year at TMS, IndyCar!!!

      Rickard Geiger Texas 2012 they had to lift in the corners, no packs, and it was great racing. Is the pack race action worth losing drivers? Everyone was incredibly lucky last night. You can keep your pack racing; I'd rather have Dan Wheldon still with us.

      Rickard Geiger What does nascar have to do with any of this? We are talking about open wheel, open cockpit cars racing inches from each other at 225 mph. It's awesome; I perpetuated it as a fan boy for years. After 2011 I changed my view.
