Watching this again in 2024. Dale was a hero of mine in the 80s and watching this memorial makes me think of my father and all the great times we had and the races we would watch or go to. 80s and 90s were the best years of my past.
The best driver that ever got in a race car.he is gone but will never be forgotten.he will always be the intermediate.lord i miss that black 3. So Richard do the right thing retire the 3 it belongs to one man.the intermediate
I couldn’t stand Earnhardt, never had a good thing to say about him ever! But when he passed and all the information about how much he helped other racers that were broke. How truly a nice guy he was, I couldn’t help but love the man. And I’m proud now to tell everyone that I grew up just down the road from Dale Earnhardt in Cooleemee N.C.
I knew all the great things he had done already for the less fortunate folks. People who hated him had no idea how he was off the track...not the same guy. Just a super nice guy.
I was the same way when I was younger... I couldn't stand him lol... and just like you now that all these videos are on UA-cam and you can actually see the off track Dale I have a whole new perspective of that man!!! he was by far one of the best and I can only wish I knew that while he was still around... Davey Allison was my all time favorite even after he was killed but now that I've seen all the videos I have about Earnhardt I can honestly say he is up there with Davey on my list nowadays... I'm just glad I wasn't the only one lol...
1999 was the best race I've ever seen and been to ! Our seats were on the back stretch. I didn't like it to begin with, but my Dale qualified back there , as it happened his pit was right in front of us . Then he won !!! People threw beer on us , but I didn't care ! I love him and I always will !
Absolutely perfect tribute for the greatest racer NASCAR ever saw. To think this was the final broadcast Bob and Benny participated in together, no matter how far apart they were, truly tugs at my heartstrings, as well. To think twenty years have passed since this happened...
Man I will never forget this man he was more of a hero to me then my dad was to DALE EARNHARDT was the greatest light in my life that when he died I went to my father in law’s basement and sat down and melted into the wall crying sabing for the death of the intimidator iron head the man in black I’ll miss the MAN
Time passes so fast. It's been 20 years and 6 months since he passed away. Yet here I am watching this tribute and feel the same way I did on that day in February 2001.
I truly believe a piece of NASCAR died with him that day. He was so big, and cast such a huge shadow on the sport, that everyone at the track or watching it on TV either were a fan of his, or were rooting for THEIR driver to beat HIM - more often than not, they didn't even care if their driver won the race at all, just come in ahead of that damn Earnhardt! And there's never been a cooler looking car that that black Lumina then Monte Carlo with a white 3 and the red interior. Black is just - the coolest color to have on a race car, sports car, any car. You can make a Yugo look...... uh, better, in black!
I remember like it was yesterday, I was in my room a few hours after the race was over. My friend called and said hey I’m sorry, I said sorry for what?. He says Dale died. I ran to the living room and told my dad to turn it to the news. He said why, I looked at him and said Earnhardt died. My mom was in the kitchen she says what. By that time my dad turned it to the What ever station it was. On the screen With a picture of Dale 1951-2001. It seemed like everything came to a stop. I was in disbelief, shocked, I didn’t want to believe it. I went back to my room shut the door and turned in the radio. As soon as I turned it on, the radio host says this next song is in the memory of Dale Earnhardt. Garth brooks the Dance started playing. I started crying like a baby. My driver, hero, I don’t think I slept at all that night.
Man I told my girlfriend that Dale was dead when The broadcast left the race and I remember her breaking down and saying please don't say that. I just knew!
For those of us who remember the IROC RACES,MAN DID WE SEE A SHOW FROM THE WORLD'S GREATEST DRIVERS EVERY IROC RACE,NO MATTER WHO WON NO MATTER WHO WRECKED IT WAS SO COOL TO SEE THESE GUYS DUKE IT OUT AND LAUGH AFTERWARDS,BRING BACK SOME FORMAT OF THE IROC,THIS GENERATION OF FANS NEEDS TO BE A PART OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT,OR THEY JUST PLAIN ARE GOING TO MISS OUT!!! JUST SAYIN! LATER!🤪,Dale Earnhardt a great driver but an even greater man!RIP DALE,WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU FOR THE GREAT PERSON YOU WE'RE!!!😥
Everybody always gave Dale Earnhardt 💩 for his aggressive driving and even fined him several times because of his driving but yet nascar officials never did hold anyone else responsible for THEIR aggressive driving that resulted in the crashing of Dale Earnhardt's car on several occasions. I miss the days of old when drivers would beat the hell out of each other on the track and have a beer afterwards as friends. That was the good ol days people 😢
Soo sad, i was born in 82, im soo HAPPY that i got to watch the greatest nascar driver every Sunday, looking back all these years later it was the best ,just my opinion:)
As I diehard Big E fan, I held it together until the end. As much as I dislike "that woman" he married, it still got to me to see how affectionate they were, like this is it, the last hug and kiss, I'm not coming back.
My husband loved watching Dale Earnhardt Sr race. I really came on board when Dale won the Daytona 500! I would watch thru the years forever watching this wonderful guy! Win the races in Heaven togerher! Tx fan Gloria
If I happen to be correct, this was Benny Parsons' final appearance ever on ESPN as he would move over to then-Turner Sports (now TNT Sports) shortly thereafter. R.I.P. Dale and BP.
when Dale Earnhardt SR was living with his job and doing a inc his be owner of it ,and his son Dale Earnhardt JR and his big sister ,was good and coll too, like his home in a farmer now and living on it too, like to seeing his had a west town too, like his son JR had , on JR had it why not name is Earnhardt city and be put into a town hall with his dad and his own form the 2 teams too, 🌶🌋🏔🏁

It was a good time for many of us.
Was privileged to see him race at Darlington. Being a California boy. Cherish that.
Was able to sign his hauler the following year. On my next visit to Darlington. 😢

Bob Jenkins was my favorite TV anylist and Dale Earnhardt was my favorite racecar driver.
I will miss Dale until I see him again.
Kudos my Hero, Dale Earnhardt 1951-2001.
2 words........The GREATEST

Beautiful Tribute to an American Icon -
All these years later -
Impossible to hold the tears

No one WILL replace Dale period
Many have tried and think they can but they can’t
you are wrong.
@joshuaheagy847 you and what army?

Dr. Jerry Punch was a really close friend of Earnhardt.
Watch Dale Jr's podcast when he had Dr. Jerry Punch on the show. Eye opening!
Why was Dr. Jerry Punch never in the movie Dale?
R.I.P. Dale Earnhardt AND Motorsports journalist Bob Jenkins, who we lost just a few hours ago...
And at this point, RIP to NASCAR in general. Teams are dropping off.
Ruined by politics.

I remember it too, and I swear when I saw how slow the ambulance was going I knew he was gone.
Man I told my girlfriend that Dale was dead when The broadcast left the race and I remember her breaking down and saying please don't say that. I just knew!
It was important to Dale that Cheever hear "I aint never hit a man in a car".
Man of honor.

Loved iroc bring it back
A tremendous tribute to the absolute best there ever was to wheel a NASCAR stock car.
There'll never be another one like him. Never. Ever.
I was a fan of Jeff Gordon. But there will never be another race car driver like Dale Earnhardt Sr again, never.
Everybody always gave Dale Earnhardt 💩 for his aggressive driving and even fined him several times because of his driving but yet nascar officials never did hold anyone else responsible for THEIR aggressive driving that resulted in the crashing of Dale Earnhardt's car on several occasions. What an ending from Dale himself, have no idea how HUGE Nascar was when Dale was around...Gosh Such a legend that's still missed til this very day.
May you Rest In Peace Neil Bonnet and Dale Earnhardt Sr. you guys will always be Missed 😢😢😢😢
Soo sad, i was born in 82, im soo HAPPY that i got to watch the greatest nascar driver every Sunday, looking back all these years later it was the best ,just my opinion:)
Outstanding tribute
He was Incredible to drive an L handling car and work on it and go to the front with it shows how truly how legendary he was
Bob Jenkins is calling Dale Earnhardt's racing skills in Heaven now. May they both rest in peace...
With Benny Parsons right next to him, and Steve Byrnes on pit road.
@@tomdalfonzo9959 What about Buddy Baker? I know he never worked with ESPN but he was a race analyst too
And rest in peace to Neil Bonnet as well who died 7 years prior. He's racing with Earnhardt in heaven as well.
16:34 James Garner too
I will never, ever , believe that Dale Earnhardt would hold off the pack for anyone ! He was a wonderful person, but he wanted to win !
Just think now the 2 of the best nascar racers are from North Carolina where I'm from.
Happy Birthday Earnhardt
As I diehard Big E fan, I held it together until the end. As much as I dislike "that woman" he married, it still got to me to see how affectionate they were, like this is it, the last hug and kiss, I'm not coming back.
You never know when that day will come. You can never assume you are coming back or your partner will be there when you return.
@@latemodelracer78 Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it.
Why am I so addicted to this ??? My curiosity on this one has grown.
Addicted to dale? Lol he was something special... always took time for fans... was my hero... rip
@@joeyjohnson4826 yeahhhh

The guy lost his life doing what he lived and loved to do. He could have suffered through cancer like my my dad did.
NASCAR will never be the same without Dale. RIP#3! YOU'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
The current President even called Dale Earnhardt Jr.....that speaks volumes
Not sure the current president knew who had called. Maybe he thought he was talking to Bo?
Greatest driver ever. When racing was real not these cookie cutter tracks and all cars are the same
12:23 One of the many reasons Gordon's my hero showing respect to Dale is why I cherish the #24
Best intro Ever
If I happen to be correct, this was Benny Parsons' final appearance ever on ESPN as he would move over to then-Turner Sports (now TNT Sports) shortly thereafter. R.I.P. Dale and BP.
The race that know one forget the race
They'll never be another one like Dale Earnhardt and the NASCAR racing is not been the same since we lost him never be another one
He was the best driver in NASCAR
Nel and dlale where so much alike
Had he only known what kind of snake and witch he was married to
AKA gold digger. When he died she clearly showed she was only married for money and didn’t care about the family at all
what is the musical piece from 34:35 to 35:02?
If God Was A NASCAR Driver His Name Would Be……. EARNHARDT
Dale is.not.a.bad.name
Such a bully
Such a hater
