But she has given more work to the one that has been there for 7 months and the guy who’s been there for 1 month, and not me…. Does that mean she doesn’t think I’m ready for that amount of work? I work for the city as an accounting clerk. ….. am I just overthinking it? I was working really fast and balancing with my money while the others were kind of messing up with their counting and then all of a sudden yesterday and today they started working faster than usual…… any thoughts? Like I’m not sure if I’m being useful or resourceful

Where do you work?
how and where did you apply?
I don't take any person that works in accounting seriously when they fail to type a dollar amount correctly. I suggest that you brush up on the little things and communicate in a legible manor. That said I hope your career is taking off!
What do you thing about ACCA certification? I'm thinking of doing it instead of CPA idk if it's going to make a difference
Depends how far you want to take your career. Acca is good but reaches a limit at some point in your career.
I don't see myself staying at a Big 4, but it's the standard path.. I want to get my CPA license but I'm hoping to get into forensic accounting. I've got some connections in that space, but do you think it's safer to do b4 audit for 2-3 years and then get myself into forensic accounting?
The other path I was looking at is going the family office route. I also have a great contact that can mentor me and coach me through this, but that job seems very meaningless.
I support more the option of 2-5 years in audit then do forensic

what if your GPA is below 3.0 and you just graduated college? What if you want to be a financial analyst instead with your accounting degree??
Most accounting degrees won't even let you in if you have less than 3.0. But it applies to any other business sector, just do an internship for JPM analyst and go on from there if you want finance
@@jaxteller2904 What GPA do you need to get hired into a decent paying accounting job with a bachelor degree??
Yeah, my GPA was 2.57 I couldn't do CPA questions and I never found work in accounting.
Another informative video from your channel!
Thank you 🙏
Wow, I just found your video and it's super informative. I've been desperately trying to find an internship, seeing that I'll be graduating with 150 credits in BS Accounting this December. There's really close to no chance for an international student like me to be hired in the field as the firms don't want to deal with all the hassle. And things get worse after the pandemic! I now wonder if I should continue to pursue CPA license or try my luck in Canada... Wish me luck!
I really like your videos !! I just started my journey in accounting and I have a long way to go and I'm looking for basic info to get me going and ur videos are very informative thank you 🎉🎉 !!!!

Hi, I have 8 years of experience as a staff account in Mexico, I just moved to Michigan and I have been thinking of getting a job as an entry level AP because I'm nervous for the language and the processes being different but I'm also scared of underestimate myself. Could you offer me any advice?

Hi,
I'm in my 30s and I am getting an MBA in Finance. My 4 yr college degree was in Business Management and I'm currently working as an Accounts Payable Accountant and General Ledger Accountant, with multifaceted experience in Operational Accounting from AR to AP to GL for over 10 years. Do I really need an MBA to get to the next higher role such as a Senior Accountant or even a Controller? It feels like I have been trying and trying and I keep getting rejected to get into any Senior roles. I feel stagnant, hence, I am pursuing my MBA. Maybe it is partially luck in entering the right company, but could you kindly give any expertise and advice on how to get to the next field for those who don't have the means to pursue higher educations. I am grateful that I able to pursue higher educations but hoping to help others ... asking for a friend . Thank You!
Nice video! And quick question for you. I graduated with my Bachelors in Marketing, and only took a handful of Accounting classes on college. Ive beem in this AR position for about 2 years. Do i have enough experience to qualify for a Staff Accountant position? Or do I need to wait a few more years?
Try to get some responsibilities at your current role that aligns closed to staff accountant role, such as balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, maybe some accounts payable. It will get you closer, but the hurdle will be most hiring managers will was a bachelor in accounting
Very Great Info thnx!
Thanks 🙏
Are there any skills I can start developing that’ll improve my chances of getting one of these positions? I’m a recent graduate (BA in accounting). I’m more interested in the billing analyst and accounts receivable positions.

What job can I get with a accounting lvl 1 certificate and an associate in accounting ? I’m working on getting my bachelors still
This was a very informative video. I have one question. I am going to study for the CMA certification now, and I already have a bachelors in accounting, but I do not have any experience in the field yet. My question is, what jobs or positions would I be applying for once I finish pass both CMA exams. What are some of the entry level jobs that are available for someone with CMA exams passed and an accounting degree but no experience. I should add, that I am not really interested in auditing and taxation. When at university I did not enjoy taxation neither auditing, but I do really like the management accounting topics. Thanks.
I fell in love with Managerial Accounting, myself. I want to focus on passing the CMA as well. Everyone is focused on CPA or entry level jobs for that career path that I am a bit lost. Even my Accounting professors are CPA focused. If you aren't going for a CPA or Big 4...something is wrong with you...is the attitude I get from peers and professors.
I loved my former accountant but geez what a huge savings when I went online with Turbo Tax and used their accountant for my business. In the future is online. I uploaded my documents and went through them with her and boom she saved me money... same as my former accountant in person. Future is online.
Agreed

Hi, so I graduate the end of this month with a bachelors in business management with a concentration in accounting from Devry University. I am a veteran as well. Do companies look down on Devry university, and if so does being a veteran have any benefit. Thank you, and have a great day.
Did you ever get an answer to your question. ?? I was wondering the same thing
It's honestly ridiculous that these jobs require degrees considering how easy they are.
Hi bill , I wanted to ask I am working as A/p clerk can I move to staff accountant and auditor assistant ?
Thank you for this video!! Are there any accounting positions you can get with an associates? Still in college earning my bachelors.
Yes a junior accountant
I live in Australia and here in the job descriptions under junior accounting roles most of the time it says " you are a CPA or in process of completing it "
" minimum 2 years of experience" and sometimes it even says "graduates with no experience are not considered "
That's what 'HR department in a nutshell' means~
so I just gave up applying to any of the junior roles because those who review them have some wild ideas about this role
@@sangwonkim9298 I am also in Australia atm, and I am in exactly the same situation as you are. I do not know what to do next.

If I get my CPA in Connecticut and I move to a different state, would I need to retake their CPA exam?
I don't have a degree, but i see the appeal. You don't make much now, but in 2 to 5 years, you'll make a lot more than me.
So even though i will win with a GED for the first 7 years of your journey, including your school. You will beat me by far in the 8th year.
Additionally, you need to either be working on a degree or have a degree to even just be able to work at these places.
You could be homeless and a criminal and still get in my industry and yes, that's what's wrong with my industry and the reason why i am watching this video.

I obtained a bachelors in accounting, I already had a degree in business. However, I have zero relevant experience. I am seeing jop posts requiring 2-3 years of experience and knowledge of various computer applications other than excel such as sage, quick books, microsoft access , microsoft dynamics, and many others. This feels frustrating when not having such exposure. Any suggestion as to how to tackle this sort of obstacle during an interview? Watch UA-cam tutorials on these subjects till you feel somewhat familiar, then say during the interview that though you have no direct experience in x, that you researched it and watched online tutorials so you can learn it fast on the job

The BS I currently hold is unrelated to business or finance. Will a graduate level degree increase the starting pay, or does it really depend on experience at that point?
