Nice video Nick, educational and entertaining as always!
I remember Harold Swash but not these golf balls which strike me as being something that an aunt would buy you for Xmas to go with all the other 'game improvement' gimmicks that were of no practical use whatsoever,I see no advantage over conventional putting practice with the ball that you're accustomed to using.
Dead quirky but I'm sure even Leonardo da Vinci didn't always get it right!

To be honest, I was surprised at how much they highlighted a poor stroke and think it's actually worth the occasional visit to the practice green with them.

i have a set. The instruction leaflet says if the ball veers right you have an in to out stroke. There is a modern version called the Pill Golf Ball.

Have you practiced with yours? How did you get on?

@@ClassicGolfClubs I have used a wrist putting style for about 10 years. I changed when i started using hickories and have kept it with moderns too. To me it's so much easier than shoulder putting. I did try these on the carpet when i first got them and there was a little wobble to the right. I use the modern Pill Ball every now and again.

I suspect that the 'balls' veer right (or left) once the 'ball' slows down and its forward momentum is not sufficient to keep it on line. That's why the instructions say to do it on a straight 2-3 foot putt - after 3 feet it's not going to tell you anything. A 2-3 foot straight putt will also be hit gently enough to reveal a misstrike. Putts of the length you were using (8 feet?) can't reveal anything. Interesting video.

I thought this myself when I was putting the video together, but I didn't want to go back and do it all again!
The only down side to that is that short putts make it easier to keep the putter on line, whereas a longer putt will be more likely to have errors in the stroke. But I guess that it's the shorter putts that make the difference to a good round and a bad round so these are the ones we should focus on, longer putts we're just trying to get into tap-in range.
Any slope on the green will also throw the balls off line so a flat surface is vital.

He has a lot more exercises with the Putt Genie, I'll have to try some of those with the Align balls. Thanks!
