RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is an American anime-styled animated web series and media franchise created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. While buying ingredients, Ruby encounters a Blacksmith who cryptically offers to help change who she is. When the Jabberwalker attacks the waterfront, a desperate Ruby trades her insignia for the last ingredient to restore her friends; aided by a figure known as the Rusted Knight, they defeat the Jabberwalker only to find it is one of Neo's illusions. Is Yang a bad sister? Or is the plot just not allowing anyone to get too close to Ruby so they can't help her with her feelings before the emotional climax? It's the last one.

@@unripetheberrby6283 V3, V5 is when it stopped. Yang should have been looking for Ruby at the fall and just happened to run Into Blake. So much wasted opportunity with this bond. They could have really done some interesting interactions between them. It's always basic shit with people.

I mean all the characters are having a hard time. It's just Yang, Weiss and Blake that are trying to be more positive. I think all three of them are unintentionally ignoring a lot of the problems (like always) in order to deal with what's in front of them. None of them have had time to really process. You have to think about what all of them have been through. No, it doesn't mean that it's ok for the someone to ignore someone's problems, but Rudy isn't the only one with problems. They're all stuck in a strange world, not knowing of their friends and family back home are even ok, and they just learned they missed years of Juane's life and that he is no longer the friend they once knew.
Sometimes I forget Ruby and Yang are sisters. They used to be so close in the first two seasons.

I distinctly recall Yang being there for Ruby secondary to most anything else she had going on, very much like what happens in the first few minutes at Beacon: rushed off with BG characters and left Ruby by herself.

When Ruby said “Im sorry” to Weiss’ comment I expected Weiss to backtrack and apologize for snapping at her, cuz you know, their friend just died…AGAIN. When Ruby presented Penny’s makeshift sword as a gift (only to have it thrown away by the Red Prince the next episode), I expected any one of the girls to try to comfort Ruby or console her at either one of those moments, but they didn’t. Their interactions are better overall this Volume but still a little lacking, possibly to preserve that shock value towards the end like you said.
By shock value are you referring to being shocked that WBY don't give a dam or Ruby snapping at one point or both?
@@futurestories2380 the latter where Ruby finally snaps in such an obvious way that forces WBY to notice she’s not okay. It would be nice if Ruby sat down with one or all of them to just talk before something so dramatic like a mental breakdown happens

YANG should be the first to comfort her considering she razed her. Before Ruby considers deleting herself in the Ever After. Even then I'm not shire the writers would do that eather. I expect nothing from all writers. I have lost faith in all of them.

To be fair I think her fainting when Weiss told her about Penny is why they're all so hesitant to confront her at the moment. They're scared that if they push her she'll break down, but she's still shutting them out, so they're at an impasse.

They want to help, but don't know how since Ruby has always been the one to pull them back up when they fall down... But it also doesn't help that Ruby is actively avoiding the problem herself since she believes it's "Her problem to solve alone".
RWBY's core message is that Teamwork wins the day. Even though the team name shares the name with it's leader can account for two different meanings:
There is now RWBY without Ruby, and there's now Ruby without RWBY.
I think it best shows itself from an earlier volume where Ruby gets disarmed and has to fight Hand to Hand and gets ultimately decimated, to which later on Ozpin instructs her on honing her fighting skills without Crescent Moon because she's relied on it in the past so much that it has become her greatest weakness and Right now Ruby can't even hold her Weapon because of how much mindset has deteriorated.
I think this season is doing exactly what it intended with it's themings and it's characters. Ruby is isolated once more, and it's far more evident now, becuz she isn't the one taking the emotional lead.
Ruby has always, always bounced back from trauma, and has shouldered the pain of the others for several seasons (Jaune and Weiss especially) without their needing to ask for it. Yang has always acted as a rock, but only when Ruby came to her as far as I can remember. Even the revelation of the Hound was initiated by Ruby.
So now we have a point where Ruby is no longer able to do this, she isn't able to put down her troubles and her fears and her doubts for the sake of everyone else. The POV we get at the very beginning of the season shows is this. She is scared, she is panicked, and she is lost on how to continue as she always has. And above all she's scared to ask for help, becuz needing it is admitting failure as a leader and burdening her friends.
Even while they were shrunk, it all fell on Ruby to return them to normal and protect them and direct them on the chess board. It's all symbolic AND literal.
In closing, they aren't different characters for not paying attention to Ruby falling apart, they are distracted and have never been there for Ruby in this way. Caring for someone and being there for someone don't always happen in tandem
By far the best explanation. So weird to see how critics are letting this fly over their head and so fast to hate on the writing. I personally think this is leaps better than what’s happened a few seasons ago.
@@jds1421 The same reason people continually claim that the reason that Ironwood became bonkers was because Ruby didn't tell her that Salem was invincible from the start. Even as he has been show to be all about control and strength from his very first appearance in the show and went mad when he began too loose both (When he realized he didn't have neither control of the event nor full control over his ally). And immediately went from tyrant to try and reclaim it both. Because many haters remain at the superficial level and don't bother analysing stuff.
I just find it even stranger that both Little and the curious cat are able to tell something is wrong with Ruby while her so called friends seem oblivious
Isn’t that the point tho? Ruby has always been there for all of them. I don’t think any of them have EVER had to be there for ruby except Yang when they were younger. The team already has the idea of ruby as someone virtually unsinkable since she never comes to them with her problems.
Vol 2 she focused on helping Weiss be a better person and Blake learn to trust the group. Vol 3 she helped Penny feel like a normal person. Vol 4 she was helping team JNR with trauma over Pyrrha and ren and nora’s past. Vol 5 she was reunited with Yang and Weiss and tried to bring the group together. Vol 6 she had to deal with Qrow’s increasing alcoholism and was the only one to remain optimistic against Jinn’s revelations and the Apathy attack. Vol 7 & 8 was mostly her frantically trying to hold the pieces of their failing plan together. Ruby may not be an excellent leader (but come on she was 15 and had at best half a year of real schooling to learn) but she is the emotional pillar of the group. They don’t expect her to topple but Little has no preconceptions, they only see their hurting friend.

I hate how they wrote Yang in this new volume. Usually she's a fun and protective big sis, now she's just ignoring Ruby for Blake.
She hasn’t really been that since early volume 3. Since she lost her arm and had her solo journey she and ruby have been slowly drifting apart. I think this makes sense since Yang has some big parentification trauma regarding Taiyang shutting down after summer went missing with her picking up the slack. She didn’t get to be a kid for a while and tbh some measure of independence and finding her own way is owed Yang. On the other hand ruby isn’t at fault for any of that and has been everybody’s emotional rock for 6 seasons now. Eventually things were going to crack and I’m living for Ruby’s depression arc personally.

Thinking back, I realized Jaune was the one who cheers for Ruby. And she did the same for him. Even when both hurt/was uncertain.
Their first meeting, them adjusting to their leader roles in the hall, the village talk, throughout volume 6, etc.
In this volume, both are suffering too much and cannot help each other. So instead they lashed out and hurt one another. Comparing the outburst ending with all those other times-
Made me even sadder.
I like to think that's why what jaune said hurt ruby so much. It wasn't what was said, but who said it.
Ruby has never dealt with loss...ever. Her Mother, Pyrrah, Yangs Arem, Beacon, Atlas, Penny TWICE...has she ever taken a moment to go to anyone just to talk? Ruby thinks she needs to be the perfect Leader, the one that can't break down until the weight of everything that had happend since the beginning finally broke her. Yes, The Team could have asked her and Weiss and Yang tried imo but in the end, Ruby herself needed to be the one to see that she has a problem with shutting people out and pretending to be "Fine"

They DID throw the role of leadership on the youngest member from the beginning.
Disclaimer: Ruby has been my favorite character from the start so I feel more attached to this character than the rest of the cast and I was stoked to finally see her get more meaningful character development.
Putting that much responsibility and burden on anyone that young, speaking from experience, will create problems. The other thing about this that Ruby really never had an 'out' or a 'release' for these burdens so it's all coming full circle. Yes, she had friends, family, supporters, and loved ones, but that doesn't really make her role easier in the long run. Weiss hit the nail on the head at the beginning of chapter 8.
Yang: Whyd she just run off. She could've just talked to us.
Weiss: ...maybe she felt like she couldn't.
Ruby NEEDED a release. She needed a damn hug. She needed someone to watch over and help her in her private moments of heartache and her teammates couldn't do that, much less even see it. I honestly believe Volume 9, and the last few chapters especially, have shown and are focusing on three main themes for both Team RWBY and the show up to this point:
1. The reality and the loneliness of leadership. That role can take you to some REALLY dark places.
2. The many, MANY flaws of these characters, Ruby herself included.
3. The fact that sometimes, people don't see what is truly important. At least not until it's too late.
I think people let their headcanons get in the way of what is actually happening in the show. We all "know" Yang cares about Ruby, in our minds that's what we see. But as for what happens in the show? Yang hasn't cared about anything that didn't have cat ears since Volume 6. Which is really sad. I like Yang, I wish the Yang in the show was closer to the Yang in my mind.
Like somebody said in another comment, Yang in the show never truly prioritazed Ruby, since chapter one, when they got to beacon, she left her alone not even bothering, only to go have fun with her 'friends', now that she's with the cat, why would she bother?
And Yang had no reason to even see Blake as a friend since all she really got from her were lies and betrayal. That makes her fall even worse.

I think she should be cared for too, but at the same time I feel like the urgency to get back home as soon as possible and help the rest at Remnant supercedes how everyone feels atm. It's sad but like as I mentioned, the urgency to go back home seems more important with everyone else. I wanted to add that I think the team is worried about possibly breaking an already broken person.

BeeS killed the series and assisted in Ruby’s demise.
I think it's more to do with the fact that Yang is just used to Ruby being the one who always bounces back and pulls through the hard times, especially after the fall of Beacon, and again in the Apathy village. Yang just assumes that Ruby will turn out fine, as usual, and it hasn't hit her yet that even Ruby has a breaking point.
Like, what the hell? How long does it take to realize something’s wrong with Ruby? They’re prioritizing getting out of Ever After, I get it. But I doesn’t mean to abandon anyone, especially your friends and teammates. That is a sacrifice Alyx made!
I mean to them it's not abandoning since they are sticking to her mostly. They want to get home then focus on other things. Plus they may not see it as so bad since the Ever After isn't like raining all the time around Ruby which is suppose to reflect your mood
Depressed people know how to hide their depression well, Ruby is no different here, she (other than her fainting when Weiss mentioned Penny dying) for the most part has hidden her turmoil well

Yang only cares about Blake, throughout the entire series yang has been getting closer and closer to Blake and fading away from Ruby, its only Weiss who cares slightly more about Ruby now.
And all three of them just stood around like idiots and watched as Ruby offed herself, and then acted like it was a good thing.

@@evanboll4651 Literally, no matter how much Jaunes little papper/gem friends said the tree rebirth process is good and it apparently shouldn't effect non-afterians that much.
In that moment Ruby drank the tea knowing full well that it may kill her, probably even believing it would. Neo did gas light her into basically believing that the the tree would erase her and that the world would be better off without her.
So I find it crazy that the gang don't react more. It's like someone shooting themselves in the head but surviving and ending up in a coma and thier friends and family are like "Welp it was there choice, we did all we can, now it's up to them"

I think this is where the MC is having mental issues and major problems about their goal, and the rest of the characters are either too blind or too moronic to even pick up on the vibe and continue on as if all is normal.
But in the end, the MC (Ruby) will get over it without the help of the others and just brush it off as if none of it even mattered.

In order for Ruby to get over it to be meaningful she has to a have a meaningful change. Eather her actions. How she sees the world or herself. People that are considered good storytellers can't even get the basics down. Shame.

Having stepped away from my frustrations since, I get that this was likely the OG commenter's first time seeing someone who agreed with the "WBY is being ignorant" critique.
@@dream6562 most of the disruptions are coming from themselves though. Mostly from Blake actually, shifting the focus from Ruby to finding the Cat, or the teapot lady, or something Alyx did. She so fascinated with being in a fairy tale world that she’s kinda lost sight of some things, not named Yang.

Been a while since I watched V9, but I think I remember there never being a good time to bring it up properly; a nasty combination of "I'm fine", getting interrupted, needing to fight/flee, and such...
Weiss noticing makes sense as in the early parts of the series they were the foils to each other (yes foils can come from anywhere) and they bridged that gap and I’d argue are the best of friends. Yang not noticing something is wrong is a bit of a stretch cuz that’s your literal sister. Then again I was depressed and my family knew nothing
even Judgmental Critter pointed this out about Yang way back in her review of volume 8. Sigh
The fact that Bumblebee is what Yang cares about more than consoling her little sister is beyond me.
I hope ruby just moves away from yang, ever since they're feelings have come forth that's all yang has cared about.
The show is starting to forget how the characters of Rwby were since volume 4 or 5. It's just not the same. Poor Ruby
Yang’s not a bad sister, however they all lack the perception to understand at first. Ruby has made every decision as a leader and def got a lot of draw back for it. But they never actually checked on her as a team should. Why would she mention how she was feeling if everybody turns to her for everything?
I like to think that Ruby is acting how her teammates would perceive her to react to the situation. When Ruby is ready to tackle it head on, she will. Once Yang was brushed over, they let her be waiting until she was ready to talk about it. They find out later, it was more than just the situation they were in, it was building up from personal perceptions they had no way of knowing about until she said something.
Brother, her sister killed herself and YWB are all smiles like 10 min later.
It's odd to me that it seems alot of people forgot volume 4.. Once Yang put on her new arm the only thing on her mind was helping and finding ruby.. Ruby is more then just a sister to her Yang help raised her Yang loves her sister more then anything.. But alot of people are blaming Yang for not seeing the difference in Ruby come on people.. Remember the big changes in Ruby is clear to us because we saw what the guy (smoking that good stuff) cause Ruby to see.. I don't like how these fans seems to douth Yang's love for her sister and in episode 8 Yang knew what Ruby outburst was about in episode 7 but Ruby flu of before anything could be done.. And for those that haven't seen episode 8 yet be ready to be in Yang Shoes and cope with what she will see happen to her sister

I think they were trying to push the idea that everyone is dealing with some kind of loss, and knows that they each are. But I think none of them really knew what to say to Ruby, or where to start. They should have explored that more in my opinion

No they didn't. Especially not when I made this video (episode 5). Yang made two attempts. Ruby just ignored the question once, which I reference in the video and they didn't press her on it, even though she just fainted and Yang and Blake changed the subject themselves before Ruby could even give an excuse. This would be fine if Ruby wasn't acting so obviously off throughout the episodes.
Yang didn't even react when rwby drank Thales thing. Bro like she was so dead.

This season it feels like they want to change people's characters fundamentally in the show
The scene with the grasshoppers were they talk about why they become huntresses The reasons why they give is not the same reasons that they talked about previously.
Throughout the entirety of the show Yang has been shown consistently as a good big sister that genuinely cares about Ruby.
i think the reason that their explanation for being huntresses is different is not because they are saying why therye huntresses, but more so that they are affirming their identity as a huntress along with their experiences. ie. "im already whole despite my missing arm" "i accept my culture despite its confusion" "ill define my name despite my upbringing"
@Asta x Noelle yeah she did. They went out their way through season 1 through 4 to establish that Yang he loves Ruby and genuinely cares about her. Volume four is literally Yang story about getting over her trauma and finding her sister to support her.
That's why I have such a problem with this season because it feels like character assassination on why Yang isn't talking to her sister

She also did the "risk talk" with Ruby on season 7 and was cut again by penny arrival.
I think that's interesting that Yang is trying to help Ruby but everytime, the world said "nah, do other things right no"
@@TheRasengan0 If I see you my younger sibling having a genuine difficult time. I'm going to talk to them. Same thing for my older siblings even though I personally try to hide my problems they still talk to me and help me even though I don't want to admit it.
I believe in episode 5 they had the storm. Yay and Blake believe that confessing their love to each other was more important than figuring out who were lying the Curious Cat or Jaune.
I think Yang is a fantastic character. She's actually my favorite out of the RWBY. But how she's being written and how the writers are portraying her and this volume kind of comes off as character assassination. Maybe Yang will reconcile the fact that she was being a bit selfish and putting her relationship over her sister that clearly needs help. The signs that Ruby is depressed and doesn't feel okay is clear since like the very beginning of the volume
@@kingwashington4044 I mean, I confirmed that Yang tried three time to talk to ruby before that episode and even during the last one she tried to talk to her but each time she was cut. (Yeah, I rewatched all the season to be sure)
I agreed that they should have pushed the fact that Yang TRIED to talk to her more clearly because a lot of people tend to forget/don't see it and that makes Yang look like a selfish person but when you look closely, she did try and she is the person that is the least in fault.
They are all in fault tho (except Jaune, he just has a lot of problems)
I think it's the factor that they're trying to grow become powerful and this is basically a trial a test of their power like the like the one storm Yang and Blake had to confess their feelings there is probably a lot more stuff it's probably like a quest or something that's going to happen for Ruby and yang and all of them together this is a big ol trial test innocence because every time that they end up doing something and then another land do they not upgrade their self emotionally and physically

A reminder that episode 7 of this volume was the first time any of these characters slept since episode 7 of volume 7. We're in the fourth wall and generally well rested. I entirely believe Blake and Yang just not being able to see really obvious stuff. They're not even running on fumes at that point, they're running on the memory of them XD
Yang became a bad sister the moment she started caring more about Blake. Season 7 and up she’s being an awful sister. Grimm are coming into the house that your family is in,grab Blake’s hand and run out(as if she can’t by herself)and leave Ruby and your depressed drunk uncle inside. You and your friends get separated,call Blake first then Ruby. Ruby starts breaking down crying and she consoles her after she’s on her knees,we all know that she would’ve been comforting Blake the instant she started crying. In an argument with Ruby,wonder how that affected Blake’s view of her. Reunite with Ruby after the fight and give Blake the more meaningful moment. Rubys depressed,doesn’t even notice bc she’s focused on Blake. Ruby finally snaps,protect Blake and get mad at her for being mad at them. Ruby gets yelled at by jaunne,don’t defend Ruby like she defended Blake. Ruby runs away and walk slowly after her with Blake and the others.

I feel like Yang has always been there for Ruby- they just have so much to deal with they can’t always focus on each other. They have a great relationship as sisters and I don’t think that’ll ever change. Anyways- as said, I think them all not noticing as for shock value, but I do think it could also be due to caution and also everyone is going through it.
I personally have always really related to Ruby and she did deserve way more support this volume, but I think everything was done intentionally. It would’ve been nice to see Yang get more of a chance to talk to Ruby and to see the others try, but I think the whole point is that everyone will make an effort to do so after this volume.
Also just because Yang was focused on Blake this volume doesn’t make her ‘the worst sister ever’ though I do agree she should’ve given Ruby way more attention.
Also- the only reason they are so ‘fine’ about Ruby drinking the tea is because they knew she’d be fine, but I thought Yang’s reaction was pretty reasonable. At first she was in shock and processing what was happening, realizing that her sister thought she was actually offing herself, shown by her eyes widening. After they get to the tree it really hits her and all she wants is her sister back, but obviously she’s reminded that Ruby will be back.
Again- I’m very much team Ruby, I relate to her a lot and always have, but I also think some people might not realize some of the other details in the show. Though I agree some of it could’ve been adjusted to feel more natural.
I think it’s actually pretty realistic. Yang didn’t comfort her because they had been through so much that she didn’t want to see it. She thought she would be fine because she had to be fine.
As the sunshine therapist friend it’s quite common for that to happen. You breaking is not an option always.
I think that's the point. The cat has been luring them the whole time trying to break Ruby away from them every time they seem to notice something comes up we can call that bad writing and it probably is but I like to believe it was the cat setting things up so to draw attention away from Ruby.
Basically that same shit they did in like steven universe and shit like just have everyone ignore depressed character until they break is not get writing

There’s so much they have to say and do, they need to speak with her. But first she must be saved. I’ve said this to many people throughout this week, but I would give anything for RWBY to be whole before this is over, as much as I would give for their story to have a proper conclusion.
I dunno if the writing is just poor or if now they have written everyone to be only be occupied with themselves that they are neglecting the heart of their team.
It seems left field but this is an extremely common thing in real life, people not speaking up clearly about their problems or people just not that interested in listening or both.
Ruby has gone through an immense amount of change and pain and with it all catching up to her no one notices that easily. Hoping the finale will cover her recovering in a satisfying but proper way.

New couples are often obnoxious in how they just focus on each other and have make sure everyone knows they’re a couple. Yang and Blake are getting close to that. Furthermore Yang has always been a little bit selfish, she basically abandoned Ruby the moment they got to Beacon remember. She is protective, or was, when it was convenient or in a fight. Now it’s not even that it seems. But to give Yang the benefit of the doubt, people do change and have new focuses over time and it can result in people growing apart slightly. Part of me thinks Ruby would almost enjoy herself more if she wasn’t a Huntress, or at least burdened with a team.
honesty if ruby hadn’t lashed out at them they wouldn’t have had known ruby’s been trying to tell them and sure the plot is a bit of a distraction but saying “hey are you okay” and “let’s stay positive” is not comfort. it’s saying “hey i see that ur sad but we have bigger things to deal with.” yang may not be a bad sister but she was definitely out of line, they all were. also ruby telling blake to shut up was completely valid because she literally just ranted about how she’s sick of blake telling her to “stay positive” and she does it again. anyone actually blaming ruby for not “speaking out” is wrong on so many levels because she has been, she’s clearly not doing well and they ALL noticed and pushed it aside and had the audacity to act surprised / angry / confused when she ran away. if ruby can shoulder a whole kingdom, her own team, and company they can take the time to notice that shes not okay. #justiceforruby i hope she gets all the love she deserves 🥺💞
I think this is indirectly Ozpin's fault. Back in Volume 1, he told RWBY that being a leader is a burden, that she must set an example. Ruby might be trying to shut everyone out because subconsciously believes, if she cracks, then the others will crack as well.

Yang doesn't care for Ruby like a sister she cares for her like a friend she just met 4 day's ago. Yang slowly stop seeing Ruby as a sister since volume 6. People say "Yang can care for other people," yes but guess what Wiess also cares for other people and an entire kingdom but she also put her sister first before anyone because Wiess was her actual family member who cared about Winter. Yang puts Blake before her own sister, heck Yang went to protect Blake from Ruby instead of calming Ruby down.

This is RWBY’s problem with bumblebee. They let Blake and Yang’s relationship get in the way of everything else. Blake and Sun’s chemistry abruptly stops and Sun’s character is seemingly forgotten. Yang clearly cares more about Blake than Ruby to the point where you forget they’re supposed to be sisters. It’s poor writing and another reason why the first two seasons were much better. At least the writers knew what they were doing with the characters and all four of the girls had equal chemistry with each other.
My guy when it’s finally revealed in episode 7 Yang jumps to Blake’s DEFENSE

Yangs whole motivation is to be able to protect her friends and family which was born from that mistake of taking Ruby to look for Raven in the past, if anyone should talk to Ruby it’s Yang but the writers prefer to focus on bumblebee

Yang is a wonderful sister
But Ruby is bottling up her thoughts like always
Unless she actually comes forth and says what she's feeling nobody is going to truly know what is bothering her

as for Bumblebee hate, I honestly don't hate it, its a fine ship (even if their fans are a bit much)
it just feels like the writters want Ruby to have a breakdown but also want to keep her together with the rest of team RWBY, when they should really be able to pick up on the problem to help her
this whole thing could have been avoided by separating them since the fact that they are together hasn't really brought much to the story, and for waht its worth, the Ruby plotline this season has been her best storyline yet, so I hope they do it correctly
this volume has honestly been incredibly refreshing after some of the nonsense of the past, I just hope they do Ruby's story right since Yang took a whole volume to get out of a similar funk Ruby is in right now (another reason she should be able to help her, but I digress)

rwby volume 9 to me doesn't feel like it's part of rwby because rwby doesn't feel like rwby.
ruby is just now taking a 180 of a depressed route and going full angsty teen when she snaps which feels so much different from her over character in previos season. sure she was feeling less than herself like everyone else in volumes 6-8 but she at least kept that awkward teen personality going through her. best example of this is when she saw penny again. A lot of us were expecting her to go all anime overeaction that her friend is back and niagra falls cry but she was instead speechless like she didn't know what emotion to have.
blake and yang as well also feel out of character. like sure Blake is still blake and yang is still yang but really most of the traits that are being progressed are just saying things literally any other character on their side would say or the shipping. (side note im gonna say right now. i was never that big on bumblebee because I really didn't see a point for it especially through the arc and here we have literally most symbolic way of forcing a ship by haveing the story book world FORCING BLAKE AND YANG TO CONFESS AND KISS like maybe you like it and thats fine but im just baffling my ass off with that)
when i said i would love for blake and yang to be together, i never meant for yang to completely ignore ruby. there's a balance that the writers need to find for the next volume

If yang is a bad sister for not checking up on ruby mental state because of other problems (which isn’t true as she does check on her even in this volume but they get interrupted) then doesn’t that make ruby bad because she left when her sister was suffering from losing an arm and had PTSD to go with team JNR on another mission when she could’ve stayed to help yang
I just saw this exact argument on Twitter and it doesn't work because Ruby didn't just leave immediately. They lived together for like three months before Ruby left. Unless you assume Ruby didn't try to connect with Yang in those times, which I think would be wildly out of character, it doesn't really count.
Don’t forget that yang actively pushed ruby away at that time. Refusing to even look at ruby, out of shame or some other emotion.

Neither of them are bad mind you, because it’s idiotic to try to blame them. However, it’s a double standard to try to say yang is a bad sister when she gave up her childhood for ruby, but not have the same energy for ruby.
Either ruby is also a horrible sister, or none of them are.

Secondly, when I made this video, Ruby hadn't pushed Yang away. Just ignored her question once.
Thirdly, I would hardly call leaving home on a mission after three months of living with someone who doesn't want to talk to you 'abandoning' them (Yang didn't start her non-depression arc until months later). She left without telling them to avoid them stopping her.
RT has basically just decided that this is their last ditch effort to bring money in before they go bankrupt, before this volume came out the were a month from declaring bankruptcy, they threw in bumblebee kiss to hopefully get those fans to watch however in doing so has yang and everyone ignore ruby and her depression, infact the only thing they did this whole season was FORCE bumblebee into the story after having showin yang has feelings for jaune and blake is pretty much already with sun, that includes him having met and been approved of by her parents. at the start of this volume RT began getting some money in however after the bumblebee kiss happened people stopped watching which only serves to show that most people did not want that ship as canon. the views for that episode only went up when someone posted a spoiler shot of yang and blake kissing as well showing that the people who wanted the ship to happen did NOT watch the show normally and once it DID happen they were satisfied and now are no longer watching the show again.
the writing for this volume and the animation has been awful and with the amount of staff leaving RT it's no surprise why this volume has sucked.
Even to the point of RT having the VA's go out and defend bumblebee saying it was planned from day 1 when there is so much evidence against that.
1. in the official compendium arryn (blake) calls blake "illia's straight friend"
2. in literally the 1st season yang is perving on men and not any women
3. countless times blake has been a blushing adorable mess for sun however it was only in this volume did she give yang anything close to that
4. blake kissed sun already (confirmed on the lips by RT animators and writers)
i could honestly go on but this is how incompetent RT is and show's how they changed and destroyed RWBY from how it was meant to be.

This is so sad, though Yang should be the one checking on Ruby but she didn’t bother and checked on blake also “trying” it won’t cut the fact that Ruby is going through the toughest and hardest things she didn’t realized that Ruby is looks okay but deep in her core she’s so upset that she never wanted to exist being a sister is one thing but it’s a huge different story of Ruby being a leader of 3 members of her team
I think part of its is also on Yang's side.. she had just died for her sister. She had to deal with that entire realization as she fell. and then as she awoke there..
That she died.
She died for Ruby.
She realized things too. Yang realized she died. That she had so much left unsaid, undone, and that she's put her sister ahead of herself for years now.
Yang cares.
but Yang also was trying to find her own balance.
She was dealing with her own death, and her own left over pain.
Then she gets forced to foncess and gets accepted. She tried to talk to Ruby but she's also dealing with her stuff and found something that made her happy and was HERS.
not even Beacone was "hers" Ruby followed and Yang didn't get her own time for her own self and growth. She even endded up in the same class and the same team as Ruby.
Thats true of everyone there. They're all dealing with the fact they died. They didn't of course-but in the process they all fully believed they just died.
It's almost as if the writers didn't know how to write decent characters
