ive had this system for about 6 months and am so pleasantly surprised. stanley has been putting out some good stuff. and that was a very well thought out review. covered everything that mattered without going on and on. thanks!
I love my Stanley cook set, one really cool thing is the pot nests in the Ozark trails stainless steel cup with butterfly handles, great set-up.
Sweet!!!
been using the stanley cook set for about 3 yes now. It just works .I put a cable om it so i can hang it over a fire
Welcome to my world Amigo. Owned and used this unit for over a year along with other Stanley pots. You really should check the others out as well. I have this "pot" nested in a SS steel butterfly handled cup. Perfect fit. And with the perforated lid, it's great for "cowboy coffee."
I have been using this for the past 2 years ontop of a solo stove. Exterior is black from the twig burner, but it has cooked everything from boiled eggs, rice, coffee, mountain house meals, purify water, and my go to pot. My kit is solo stove, stanley pot, and stanley utility cup. Sawyer micro bag filter, and titanium spork. I'm good.
I keep this in my backpack/ b.o.b. Inside I store a cleaning sponge, paper towels, a Colman butane stove, a match case with match's striker,a and a mini BIC along with a snack baggie of instant coffee. I have used it on multiple occasions. Tried cooking a Lipton pasta side my spork didn't get the noodles off the bottom and they burnt. I should had a longer spoon. Boiling water for Mountain House meals, heating up soup, making coffee I love it. I haven't tried it but you can use it as a coffee press. Nice review great channel keep up the good work.
I absolutely love this set. I picked it up at my local Walmart for a short 3 day backpacking trip with my wife. It's super light and easy to fasten to the outside of my bag if I need to. We have cooked with it on every type of fire lol and it's held up wonderfully. We usually use it for boiling but I have cooked single meals in it and a simple blue gill stew! Perfect for me and is our go to cook ware for backpacking.
This is also compatible with the 32oz Nalgene stainless steel bottle. Due to the different design on the bottom, the 32oz doesn't fit standard cups like the GSI stainless steel one (not tightly at least) like the 38oz bottle does, but because this is higher it fits it perfectly. And you can also fit a GSI cup on the bottom of the Stanley Cup. Just some ideas :)
Hey y'all! I have one of these and by God does it work! It's not designed to be hung over a campfire tho. You can mod it to do so, but this thing does well when placed on a bed of hot coals or on a camp stove. As far as the cups go, love or hate them, they do serve a purpose. I feel sorry for those who ditch them to save weight. I can have coffee in one cup and oatmeal in the other at the same time. The big plus is you are not burning your lips on a hot pot.
Aaron! A glass coffee press on a camping trip??? Did you know that the screen assembly from a 38 oz. bodum classic french press will fit the stanley adventure cook pot. Keep an eye out in thrift stores or Ebay for damaged french press(broken glass) $10-15 much less weight and space to just pack the screen assembly and plunger...and no glass to break! Of course, if you keep taking your coffee press, you may just end up with the parts you need! :)
keep an eye on Walmart, they will a lot of times mark down their Stanley items. I found my set for $9. They also have a single walled stainless steel 32oz cup where the top half comes off so you can boil stuff, and the lid turns into a cup.
one of the smaller propane tanks fit inside perfectly - had one for years and I wouldn't leave for a day hike without it
I can honestly say that you are a member of the "Green Cup Club"...yep such a club exists just for those Stanley Adventure Green Cups...lol. Welcome Brother!
And the sliding part on the handle can also go over the green plastic tab while the lid is on for some extra solidity, nice video, I have one of these things and they really are highly recommended in my opinion
I have had this for well over a year. I removed the two cups tho. the greatest thing about this is will nest in those popular steel and titanium camp cups as well. I put mine in a Maxpedition water bottle pouch, i put the lid in the bottom, nested the pot in steel cup, put in the pouch then filled it with eating utensils and some drink packs. for under twenty bucks you really can't beat it. the pot and prep bowl with utensil set is pretty awesome for the price as well.
I've looked at this set for a couple of years now. I'm glad to see actual use of it. God bless you
JediJunkie247 thanks, always want to show actual testing!
I carry that pot in my bug out bag. I ditched the cups all together as I only think they are good for car camping due to their weight. I can use the pot as a cup, and I carry a stainless steel straw to allow me to drink hot liquids out of the pot while the sides are hot. The graduated lines are perfect for things like Mountain House meals. Another feature not mentioned is that the handle can be completely removed so that it can fit in certain pockets (like Condor H2O Pouch). It is a great, fairly lightweight kit! I love mine!
If you take the cups out you can fit an MSR micro-rocket and a small gas canister.
I love mine. Have used I for yeas. Just got back from a camping trip in the Kettle Moraine in Wisconsin and we used this to cook and the cups were / are perfect for coffee and cocktail hour. Thanks for reviewing this set. Everybody should own one. Have a peaceful Memorial Day.
Thanks Aaron. We have these in our car emergency/get home kits. We put a small alcohol stove and a few ounces of alcohol inside, as well as coffee packets/tea/instant soups.
Alan Williams perfect, I love that it is so versatile
I have one, great little pot, I replaced the green tab with a key chain ring it makes it easy to pick up the lid.
The plastic tab will melt if your not careful. Its an awesome addition to your camping trip. a must for coffee.
A nice modification for this system is to replace the plastic tab with a standard key ring to avoid melting if you use the pot in a fire or coals. I've had one for about several years.
Been using mine for years. Never had it melt.
I have a 850 ml titanium pot but I don't like to use it on wood burning stoves. I only see two to the Stanley pot. The first is the weight. It is heavy for backpacking. The stainless steel does give you durability for the extra weight. Which I like for cooking on wood stoves. The second downside I see is it doesn't nest Nalgene bottles. I believe the camelbak bottles will though.
Great system. I have one and have put a tatonka mug on the outside and a 32oz nalgene inside. All nest together perfectly. Makes an awesome set up.
Great channel by the way.
Steve Baby thanks for watching glad you have had great success with it too!
Top notch. Love this item. Replace green thingy with keyring and put right in fire. Favorite thing. Permanent spot in every bag.
NewHampshire Bound sweet!!
Someone may have already mentioned this but, the lid also fits the stainless steel cup from Wally World that the Stanley nests down in nicely and gives you a smaller lighter option for day hikes.
I have opted out the cups and use an gsi stainless steel cup witch the pot nests into with an scrubber stops the rattle. An stainless steel 1 liter water bottle fits into the pot, removing the handle when storing, in my backpack, makes this my goto kit.
It's fantastic!
And when i only have to cook for myself at home it works well on a stove too
The lid to the Stanley Camp Pot also fits perfectly on the ubiquitous GSI Cup. I have this pot in a Maxpedition 12 x 5 bottle holder. A stainless steel Nalgene Guyot Design Backpacker model (the tapered one) nests perfectly in the in the pot. Then I top it with the GSI Cup. And there's still room at the top for a Solo Stove or a couple cans of tuna. Once you put some fire lighting items in the pouch and hang a fixed blade knife on the molle webbing, It becomes a complete survival kit!
I purchased this last year at Walmart.
Good all around container.
Budget friendly.
My wife, best friend and I have been rocking these in our packs for a few years now and we love them! If you take off the plastic handle you can replace it with a small Nyte-Ize S-biner.
Dano DeMano I was thinking of doing the samething!!
Happy to see this review because I've looked at this system at my local Walmart and wondered if it was any good. Thank you for the review.
neddmoulton1 ya, totally love it!
These look great, problem is they're not sold in AUS except 1 or 2 online spots and you end up paying over $50 after shipping. Plus for my setup it is too tall, I prefer a lower wider pot, boil much better and they're more stable.
This thing is great! Perfect size for a couple people. I've had one for a while and really like everything about it. Great review.
I have that camp pot and love it. Use it for everything....well, not for cooking my eggs. Great review.
Hello Aaron
Just a month or so I did get a Stanley
Small cooking pot and as I was going through Walmart I did see and stainless steel cup and it's only
5 dollars and the Stanley cooking it
Fits in that stainless steel cup and I have to say they go pretty good together
And I know this is a early video but I just needed to give you this kind of info from myself to you and I hope
This info will give you something else to thank about
I do like your videos and you and your family and friends stay safe
Peace
Good video, thanks for sharing. I've seen these at the store for a while now and have always wondered about the durability. Your video just confirmed what I needed to hear! Thanks again!
Glad to help!
Have had my Stanley Adventure Cook Kit for years. Best quality and economical cook kit available...I use mine a lot.
Also, with the slender designed pot, it packs better.
It is a great set for sure!
I love mine, I have used mine in both fire and fuel stove works great.
Ditch the cups,
Will a small fuel canister fit in the bottom? That paired with the brs3000t would be a good combo
Great video! I saw these at Walmart and thought they were junk because of the price and where they were sold. Got a Boy Scout camp out with my son this weekend, think I might grab one and check it out. Thanks for the info. 👍
Yeah, I ditch one of the cups . Now it's amazing how much stuff you can store in there. I keep a fancy feast alcohol stove and a 2 ounce bottle of Methyl alcohol . Spare lighters and strikers. Still have some room left.
I just purchased it from Amazon saw it a couple times but didn't know if the steel was cooking grade stainless because it's so well priced I thought it was probably aluminum, I want to see if it will fit in a water bottle pouch, that would be the icing on the 🎂
The cups are double walled so your hands do not get burned plus a full sized Trangia or Esbit spirit burner will drop neatly into the upper cup and under the lid this is a great little rig -cheers
They are really nice.
I noticed that you were using a pocket rocket, I saw another review saying that it barely fit on the stove and was very finicky. Did you have this problem?
Oh man I have been looking for something like this for ages. I just saw it on ebay for $18 which is amazing for Australia. Thought about it for about half a second and bought it. Simple and easy, just my sort of thing.
The folding Optimus Crux stove fits right inside the cup with a Bic and some drink mixes. I am a big fan of this little system and I almost didn't buy it.
Yes, thanks, nice to see reviews of less tactical stuff. I'm familiar with the Stanley kit, the quality is very good. Thank you for yet another great video!
I bought mine over two years ago and love it for all the reasons you mentioned! I also purchased a 16 oz SS camp cup ( Wal-Mart brand) and the Stanley cook pot sits right inside of it to give me two vessels to cook from or use the cup for eating out of. The two insulated nesting cups are another plus, though I initially removed them in favor of using the space for fuel tabs and a big lighter. I am now rethinking this as I really like those insulated cups.
Anyway, great review as always, Aaron.
Oh, btw how is Tommy the trail dog doing since the accident?
A Keeper Of Odd Knowledge glad you enjoy the pot too! Tommy is great thanks for asking!!
I've had this for a while now and it works amazingly
Since I've this pot, I just bring with me the piston of my Bodum, it fit perfectly in the pot.
I got one today because they build quality looked great. Thanks for the tips with it. I like it so much I use it at home a lot 😂
glad you reviewed this brother, have been using it for quite a while, great product.:-D
That seems like the perfect "heith" for a camp pot! Thanks for the heads-up. Will look for it next time I'm at Walmart.
You can get the tin cup from Wal-Mart. You can put the Stanley cookset in that cup too.?.
I just did that with mine. Works like a champ.
Add the 32oz lid from walmart camping section to add onto this pot or cup as a seal to hold water. Also this pot lid also fits on the cup as well.
Nice video. I totally agree, nice cook kit. The measure line inside cup is 8 ounces measured.
One of my favorite cooksets. Absolutely bombproof piece of gear. I've used it onm my stove and put it on many fires. I advise you to replace that plastic knob on the lid with a key ring. Loop i through a little to keep it upright. A lot of people dis the green cups. I only keep one in it and use the extra space for my cook gear
great system! I have one and its great for coffee ( i love the Aeropress) and for heating water for camp food!!!! Thumbs way up!!!!!
Collin Dubois thanks for watching!
I have been using this for a few years and love it, i kind of want that stanley adventure two pot cook set
Arctic Gator ya that look sweet for car camping
Arctic Gator is that you Clint?
Arctic Gator yup. Goin on 3 years with mine. It makes up most of my cook kit for kayak camping. My brother often brings the pot set you mention. I'd recommend it for sure.
Thanks for sharing your video. I just the same set at my local Wal-Mart. The set is great and very compact.
I've used this for years. It's a great piece of kit. I removed the plastic tab from the lid and replaced it with a split ring for cooking directly in the fire.
This is a great kit, I've had mine for a while now. One thing you might want to consider upgrading on the kit is the plastic tab on the top. You can replace it with a key ring so you don't have to worry about it melting. Other than that I've had no complaints about it, I've had it strait in the campfire or on a burner, works great both ways! Keep up the great reviews!!
You have to be the first person who has suggested keeping one or both of the cups. Every review I have seen has suggested chucking them. Points for the French Press too. :)
Supposedly, the Guyot 32 oz steel bottle that's tapered will fit inside with a GSI-type cup on top. All will fit inside the Maxpedition-style 10x4 pouch. Put a folding Esbit folding stove in the front pocket. That's a rig! dcr
Dcr 72104 nice!
Love it as well! I use it with a Solo stove and it works awesome.
I enjoy these no typical videos and reviews, thanks.
Glad to hear that, I plan on continuing to do them.
works great I use all the time for the price you can't go wrong
How is the HOB Link review doing, looking at purchasing this as a Christmas gift for son who normally edc the skyline.
Yogi Lilly video posting Sat.
Is there a way to get the plastic tab off the lid so it doesn't melt in a fire cooking setup?
Mormon Family just cut it off and replace with a wire loop. lots of people have done this. works well.
Yes, a lot of people have replaced it with a key ring.
Strange question but if anybody could answer,I was pondering buying one of these not only for liquid put possibly soft boiled eggs. Could you fit 2 eggs touching the bottom in this? Thanks!
Gideon, what kind of burner do you use?
Apparently I'm the only person in history to ever have an issue with this pot. I've cooked on mine twice, both times the food I cooked had a horrible taste. I've cooked the same food at home without that taste so I know it's not the food. It also burns in the middle of the bottom of the pot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't imagine what that would be.
I have had mine for a few years now.. Its an Awesome piece of kit !! :D
Skills2Survive sweet!
Skills2Survive
I love mine, great piece of kit to have.
same here been using it for about a year now and I love it
can't wait to get one. also brian is a trip. "and his friend," lol!
Do you know if a 38 oz nalgene would fit ? I know the 32 oz does, but does the 38 oz ??
when you start boiling water, does the handle get hot?
you should check out the MSR brand reusable cup coffee filter for a far lighter way to make coffee in the wilderness.
Can you recommend a small bag for this ?
I have that Lil pot I've used it alot never had any fails with it yet
The lid also works for the steel cups from wal mart.
Someone on UA-cam showed how you could take a small isobutane canister.. put it inside the Stanley cooker upside down.. then fit one cup inside. And inside the cup you could put a miniature rocket stove..
Looks good to me, I'm ordering one. Thanks for sharing Aaron.
Got one myself, love it. Hard to beat for camping or a b.o.b
The fill line is at 8 ounces. 10 ounces is to the lip.
Would you say the Stanley pot is just as stable on that MSR Pocket Rocket as the MicroRocket counterpart? The prongs are slightly different.
Gabriel Yeung The MSR Pocket Rocket holds the pot better compared to the Micro Rocket (I have both...) but the Micro + 4 oz fuel will sit inside the pot. For better stability, I made a triangular wire mesh out of a clothes hanger for the micro rocket to better support the pot.
Stanley also makes a 2 quart bushpot/cook set for about $25.
I have seen that.
Looks a great piece of kit. Will definitely look into it. Thanks for showing us.
Michael Demers no problem!
Your watch is casio G shock ?
John Kouros If you're asking me, it's no. I have a 20+ year old timex that's on its last legs.
I've got two of these kits, well worth the invsstment
wow thanks much!! I Bern wondering how it would work. please keep making great videos!!
Will do thanks for watching!
I have 2 of those but the problem is that they are heavy at almost 1 pound per set. I so much prefer my Sno Peak 750 pot and 450 cup at only 8 ounces. Granted, titanium is much more expensive but the weight savings on my poor broken down knees and back is substantial. At my age (67), I gotta go super ultra light weight. Good luck to you in your travels.
That lid can also double as A makeshift Hare Krishna finger cymbal. Pathfinder canteen set can't do that
Great video. Will be picking one up
Replace the plastic green tab with a key ring if it ever melts.
Yep, I did that recently, great help.
it's brilliant, I agree...thanks!
Can you cook on an open fire?
Have it, use it all the time, love it.
Jay Bradford heck ya!
gideonstactical instagram.com/p/z94faWlZcz/
Check out Dave Canterbury's 25 oz cup basically same thing but his nests w/ a klean kanteen and other similar cups
ExplorationOutdoors Andrew R. A. I saw those too
