Clearly a precursor to Ash's possessed disembodied hand in Evil Dead II. I love it!
Sam Raimi honestly should've done more acting. He has a great sense of comic timing, as evidenced here and in films like Indian Summer. In an alternate universe, there's a Three Stooges reboot with him as Moe.

This changed my life for the better, I now have a successful marriage and 3 kids.
I love that Sam Raimi had come up with all these gags in the 70's. When that trashcan started moving I was laughing and hoping she would throw the book "Farewell to Arms" on it. That joke wouldn't make sense in this context but shows Sam kept building on this idea all the way until he filmed it in 1987.
This was before big corporations beat artists to death with a tire iron if their work even contained both the words "hamburger" and "helper" anywhere, in any order. (And the courts just signed off on it.) Try to imagine the bloodbath if someone made a satirical short today that included prominent use of not just one, but three trademarks. And music from the Twilight Zone.
Back then, the business attitude was "You'll turn off customers if you do something that petty. Plus, a movie short probably won't reach a quarter of the audience it'll get if we throw a tantrum over it."
1979 was a good year for young filmmakers.

Now everytime i eat Hamburger Helper, i will remeber watching this. A Weird short film about a murderous and pedophilic Hamburger helper hand that was made by the guys behind the Evil Dead and Spider Man trilogys.

It still irritates me that that was 99% close to being on the DVD nearly 20 years ago. It was cut at literally the last minute, and not because of copyright, because they had restored the footage and made a brand new soundtrack for it specifically to negate that issue.
It was just pulled from the disc, it was so close to being done that you can access the cut menu on PC’s though of course, it doesn’t do anything.

I just met Sam at Chicago Flashback Weekend, and he laughed when I told him I had seen this. He still recited his milkman dialogue perfectly.
I've remembered there is the other movie that was also made by Scott Spiegel in 1976 that got made before this existed, and it is the one with the Pillsbury Doughboy getting rolled and beaten to death on a rolling pin by a man, i believe there was the exact clip of that movie on UA-cam a few years ago, and sadly that got removed, and i'm hoping that this movie might get found again, whenever it might be the exact clip or the full movie.

1:22 Strange, I didn't know a killer food mascot was related to Tigger.
He is! That glove took on the soul of Tiggers grandfather "Lance Broderick Tigger"after he died in the great war of Hundred Acre Wood. The Tigger laugh has been passed down from generation to generation and can be found within the artifacts once owned by the original Tigger family owner. Fascinating stuff.

Alright, because Star Wars : Episode IV was made in 1977 and it's excellent quality, so I got confused haha.
It wasn't episode 4 in 1977. And watch THX1138 if you really want to ve disappointed by a George Lucas student film... And even that had a budget for celebrity casting. Don't kid yourself
