Well done. People get confused at my home course as to why in a tournament they get a higher handicap that the one they see from the USGA. It's because our course has a slope rating of 130 which is higher than the 113 used by the USGA to calculate handicaps.

Thanks for the cool vid on handicap and slope. I’ll be watching this a few times to make sure I have it down.
Embarrassed to admit I’ve never fully understood it although I’ve been played big for over 30 years.
    ☺️

@@puttsaround As of last year, you used GRINT. What are your thoughts on that and are you still using it or moved on to another app? If so what is that app?

Excellent video, thank you, you answered many of the questions I had about handicaps. You asked what we would like to see on your videos? How about reviewing indoor putting mats. I want a realistic surface but don't want to take out a 2nd mortgage. Is there a reasonable mat that mimics speed of greens so you can practice putting strike. Thanks and keep up the great videos!

"If a golfer with a handicap index of 10.0 plays a course with a slope rating of 100, his course handicap is 9. The handicap goes down because the course is slightly easier than average. If the same golfer plays a course rated 125, however, his course handicap rises to 11. The course handicap is always expressed as a whole number."The average the USGA uses to calculate handicap index is 113. So if your home course like mine has a higher slope of 130 my home handicap is higher than my handicap index because the slope is higher than the 113 average used to calculate handicap indexes. It is confusing, but like anything else once you get it it's really not.

David, how do you become one of those club reviewers that the companies send you test equipment. Is it based on how many follows you have?

David, these guys like Mark Crossfield and Rick Shiels that have these huge followings can they make a decent living doing golf videos. Is that a goal of yours ?

Are you personally buying all of the clubs and gear you test, or do you receive these from the companies themselves? Keep up the great work!

I watch course vlogs where some players "get shots" on certain holes. Will you touch on that in the spring video?

Dave...is it complicated? Love the info. Do most tourneys take a handicap from apps now? I use Arccos and it gives me my handicap. Could I use that for say a scramble tournament or a local golf association tournament

I just got the grint...looks pretty easy to use. Let me know if you want to send your friend info to keep up on the app. I will still use Arccos for on course and upload my score to grint after the round.

Watching from Ireland. We have a different system here. Does the US system keep your handicap artificially low when you are allowed to pick up and over score certain amounts over par depending on which category your handicap is in ?

Donnacha Lyons Seems to be that way. I remember a Caddy at a big course here in Ireland (won't say course) where alot of American Tourists play and he said that on AVERAGE anyone playing off say 5hc means they are really a 8/9hc over here.

The reason for Equitable Stroke Control is NOT pace of play.
