This is actually an inappropriate tempo. It's too slow, and not played according to how ragtime should be played, which is unfortunate, because it's otherwise well played.
Great Performance of Sun Flower Scott I feel most play this too fast but I though your tempo is just right and I like how you were playing smooth and legato Wonderful !! Hugs PJ GRAND
Thanks, Aaron. I am just learning the technology, so bear with me. I am coming to KC on April 4 for a concert at Schmitt's Pianos. I will be posting it on Facebook. In the meantime, please email me and I will send you the details. info@scottkirby.net
@@patrickobrien1566 slow drag is a type of dance step and not an indication of tempo. It's still supposed to be played at a ragtime tempo and this is too slow. Well played, but slow.
I like a lot of your performances, but this is too slow. We need to not turn ragtime into a geriatric tempo genre. Slow Drag was a type of dance step. This piece is still supposed to be played at a ragtime tempo, and this is not that. Otherwise, it's well played.
Have you seen the audience at most ragtime festivals? The average age is around 80. Thus, ragtime is indeed a "geriatric" genre. What is a "ragtime tempo" to which you refer? Actually, I like a slower tempo for this piece, slower than what Scott plays here.
Well, I agree with you on the dancing part. Ragtime is Black music, and Black audiences danced to it. Scott Kirby could have added a bit more rhythm, a bit more lilt for dancers . . . but Black couples could still get their "dance on" at this pace!
This has always been my favorite Joplin tune. Didn’t know it was a collaboration until now. Played beautifully!❤
Scott + Scott + Scott
So many Scotts
Great Scotts!!

A magnificent version! How poignant to hear this precious work receiving the affection, passion and understanding that it deserves!
Great tempo!!! This is definitely the best impression of this piece that I have ever heard!!!
This is a heinously slow tempo. You're doing a disservice to ragtime by applauding such a slow pace. Particularly because it's otherwise well played.
Beautifully played. It's great to hear Joplin played with such musicality and at an appropriate tempo!

This is too slow and ruins the rag.

What a talent!
Your version is the best !
Currently learning the song. Almost done. Hopefully I can play it this beautifully soon!
Tho I prefer a faster tempo
It’s a slow drag so I think this tempo is perfect.

So similar to cuphead inkwell isle 1 song!
