wow! I haven't checked this channel in a long time but I'm so touched to see the outpouring of love! I have gotten the majority of my memories back (as far as I know haha) and have been living life. If you guys want an update video let me know and I'll be sure to post one!
When I was a bit younger, I had a friend who had amnesia. She was in a car accident. When I saw her again, she knew she knew me just didn't remember my name. It's been years since then but the she had told me that when she first woke up, she knew something was missing. She knew she had forgotten something. She know time passed, she could feel it but it was like a blank gap in between as far as she could remember and the present.
I too had an accident, but mine was a motorcycle accident.I spent 34 days in a brain trauma rehab center in Miami Florida. I guess I hit my head pretty hard, I had other bad injuries also. I didn't even know I had a girl friend, my brother told me I had one. I do remember asking him if she was pretty, he said she was ugly, I do remember getting really mad at him for saying that, LOL..... My motorcycle helmet lost all its plastic parts, like the clear shield and all the air vents, only the shell with very deep scratches was left. The first four days at the hospital were not easy for the staff or my brother watching over me. I was told that I was acting very crazy, with no ability to remember what I had just done. After the fourth day my brain started to work better, but I still have issues with memory. I had to learn how to whistle again. I forgot the names of some friends of mine at work. I knew their faces but their names had been lost. The weird thing is that they all worked in the same department, in the same area or room. Like if my brain had their names in a file that corresponded to their location or place of work. I also have trouble making sentences that people can understand, Now I'm terrible at spelling, thank god for that spelling correction thing this computer has, and proof reading. LOL. Well any way, I could be here for days talking about so many things of amnesia. There is one thing I'd like to say, HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU FORGOT SOMETHING, IF IT"S BEEN FORGOTTEN? Either someone tells you or you need to come across a special situation were you can tell somehow that you knew that. Amnesia sucks, but you know what, we are still here, and able to tell our stories. I guess you could be glad that you only lost two years and not more. It could have been much worse. Thanks for uploading! This is fascinating and great to get perspective on what matters.
Life's restart button from a higher power. It certainly feels that way. I'm glad to see you can make a positive association with it. I too lost memories, it feels like you're living someone else's life sometimes right? I'm glad you're sharing. I found it to be of assistance to others, and the reflecting helped too. I find only fellow amnesiacs truly understand what it is to lose the past memory and experiences. As an adult you must be an adult but are suddenly reverted back to an almost adolescent state only to build with no foundation. It's pretty hard. I see people with families and I ponder what that must be like to not know your own wife or husband. And to have lost the experiences in ones own life that shaped them to be the individual their partner loved be removed, i know it's hard enough with friends and parents. You rock for posting.
I also have amnesia,and can't remember things such as,my pets,my life,etc.I went through depression,anxiety,PTSD,ADHD,etc. that wiped my mind out of sight.No memories of mine where in sight,and I was worried.I can't remember who I am,and major things like this.I have lost all friends,and I just keep going in circles.
I know what that's like, Alicia. It freaking SUCKS! It hurts, it's disappointing, lonely, and things like memory loss - well, they eventually create an environment where we (the injured/suffering) become isolated - which makes everything that much worse. You're on my mind, Alicia. I hope things get better. Check out sites and groups like ASBISG dot org, and brain injury resources in your state, county, etc..? That's helped me to at least become part of a group of people similar to me - with brain injuries and memory loss problems. It helps. At least I know I'm not alone in all of this suffering/surviving. Just reach out - there are groups on FB, too - but make sure you're joining a group that isn't full of hateful trolls, and mean people. ;)
I slipped on cooking oil that got spilled on the floor and I hit my head now I can't remember much of the past. watch in a hour or maybe a day I will forget about this.
Something in my childhood caused my brain to erase everything that is a "bad" experience, I cannot remember anything that my friends or family tell about me to me, I feel like a hole diferent person from the one they tell me about. I don't know if it's amnesia, but there's no memory from kindergarten to 3 years in the past, and it grows I only can remember the last 3
I have poor short term memory due to asphyxia at birth. I can remember a lot of facts if I go through enough repetition, but if my mom tells me a list of things to buy at the store I usually forget at least one item and have to call my mom to ask what the item was. Oddly, my long term memory is great and I can remember events that happened back when I was a chid. Does anyone know if there is a term for when you have really poor short term memory, but excellent long term memory?
Don't feel like you are being disrespectful if you forget people particularly the ones you love. I learned that you have to let go. In fact that is the best thing about amnesia you have an excuse to let go of things. You are wrong about something, ok no problem that's normal and no reflection of how clever or stupid or moral I am I just don't remember. I learned to live everyday in a kind of zen way. Dot beat your self up for not remembering. I had all the daft things of people trying to get my memory back by surrounding me with things and people and places I didn't know in the hopes it would all come flooding back like in the movies, all it made me feel was insecure because all these people knew something I didn't and were talking as if I was stupid. Others offered to bang my head again some were offended that I couldn't remember even with all their prompts and took it very personally that I couldn't. But now some er...... 15 years ish later iv learned to read people and often say oh yeah I remember now just to shut them up and bluff the situation. Oh and as a side note, don't lie. You may forget in the future and shoot your self in the foot. So good luck all you wonderful interesting forgetful people, just try to remember you are not alone in this and you are not going mad ether Xx

I can't even see my parents as my family they're a couple strangers for me, when the doctor told my parents that i can't recover to my former self my family sent me to another country to live with my grandpa and grandma but i have started to live alone and go to college but sometimes in dreams or when i'm walking at a park i could get a glimpse of my past but i still couldn't remember i just hope i could remember what i was back then but if i do remember the past of my life will i disappear or will i still stay the same as i am now i keep questioning myself about this.
Fictional situation: I go to college for 4 years and the way before graduation I'm in an accident and get amnesia, forgetting the past 4 years of my life. Am I still allowed to receive my degree if my last memory is deciding to go to college and know nothing about my major?
