Just Lookin I’m glad you realized that but I’m in a sophomore in a small high school band and I’ve been taillight it’s not l about the numbers which is one thing I go by in the band
being from Atlanta, we were never exposed to Howard's band, just FAMU, Cookman, Jackson State, Bama State and Southern. Howard sounds good I need to watch them more.
@@Adoremayalee yes. they're probably the most well know show style high school band. I went to high school in Clayton County we never went against them though
My daughter plays clarinet and we would listen to HBCU bands on whether the woodwind section was relevant or not. Often times we are disappointed by the over emphasis of brass. Maybe we're selfish and don't understand open air performances and projection of sound. 🤷🏿♂️
@@xy4209no other bands like the jukebox is well discipline and levels out the sounds the brass back ups the wood winds carries and the percussion just doesn't lead it describes the band sounds for them and to the crowd... It's rather complex

@@demarrodgers8725 I had the recording years ago and lost it. I marched at DSU and a lot of my former hs classmates from bmore were in showtime in that time period and on the recording.
Another CAMEO political protest joint from the 80’s. This sounds amazing. Tubas and T-Bones are carrying this. Screaming demons are giving this incredible life.
Henry Williams Sounds to me like as far as brass and winds it's gotta be a minimum of between 30 and 50 players. I'm listening at the Sousas and that, to me, is 3 to 4 dudes. If they used any more than that I'm impressed! That bass line is hella tight, hella in tune, and they synced up like Siamese twins. But with that said the entire brass and winds are hella synced!
well written tune, but it's dragging. put you to sleep for a 4 and a half minute piece. Intro too long, accurate to specifics of the original but how you leave off the end? the best part of the song.
The beginning makes me feel like I'm going to war. Bass drums and percussion are perfect.
Its all about that roll call
It makes feel like I'm rising war hatred and poverty and going towards a beautiful bright beginning
Dang !!! This is awesome, with a
capital, "A"
That groove is something serious!! I think Howard is underrated. If they get the numbers they'll definitely be noticed.

Correct tempo and everything. Wow, percussion arrangement awesome. Actually the whole arrangement is beautiful.
I always come back to this clip. This arrangement was just so spot on perfect.
I have never heard a better arrangement of this ever!!!!!

they sound nothing like this now..... HU doesnt fund the band well... sad to say.
Jay Jenkins ONG
The band program was inconsistent for many years. I actually knew of them when I was considering schools to attend.
Jay jenkins have you ever heard of south west dekalb high school

Gives me chills..I love HBCU bands!
Best version I've heard yet!
I don't remember commenting on this.
Most accurate arrangement I've heard. Great Job!!!

Y'all should have heard this during their golden era 97'-2001...
Yeah they actually recorded the studio album in 02, that's where this recording is from

My first time was 2004 when still really good but not peak. Still ❤️ them but shadow of what they were.

I got slowly roped in and this is straight fire
This slow tempo is why I love the Red Sea of Sound playing "Skins"
Fav band song.

Well done!
I showed this to my cat
He’s a tiger now
WTH!!🙄🙄🙄 in high school we modeled FAMU but ummm😶 Howard eating on this!!
Yes!!
I really enjoyed this from ASU MRSB
the tonel basses make it groovy until the horns come in
Joint should be a cadence of it's own
this vs famu, hard choice

Morris Brown or Howard
With this song
Ok piccolos
this goes in, coming from a morgan band member
You're on every meac band video 😂
Sousa part is NASTY
Any current or alumni Alto Saxophone players of Howard's band have the sheet music to this song. I would love to play along while listening to this.
They did that
yes
I like this groove!! But SU make u wanna pump your fist!!!
true
Why the end cut off??? 😩
🔥🤟🏾
How is this fair to any other band?....smh. y'all playing with a hand full of spades in a spades game...lol. nice!
Nice check out albany state university. 2014 skin im in
I swear I heard Marilyn Monroe name
Howard is moving towards a PWI style, but they need to keep their good arrangements
Do you know why?
if you’ve seen howard in person their energy is nothing like a PWI

audio guys stopped recording right before the ending. dumb right?
That tempo is closer to Cameo's recording, and the arrangement is on point.
It's not dragging. That's the correct tempo. Go listen to Cameo
That tempo is on point. Cameo played at about the same tempo. Funky protest😊
Su version better waaaay better
I agree with you, SU's is better, but this sounds exactly like the actual song, its crazy.
Southern is trash bro!!!!
