  • Small but effective... just like something else I know!
    This petite pedal is perfect for bringing some bite to your pedalboard. But is it worth the £99 price tag??

    This one has been on my bucket list for like... Ten years hah, but I never got around to get and try it. Didn't know about the mini version, might give it a go this time round 😉

      It's a cool pedal! I think the space saving mini version is ideal 😊

    I know you love your multi-effects, Darkglass/other preamps, etc., but are we gonna see any more pedal demos anytime soon? I really love these types of videos where there's some commentary, playing, and a summary. Also, it's great to see someone demo something other than the millionth SansAmp (not that there's anything wrong with that). But this is content I can get behind

    I have the Sonic Stomp in the original sized version. It's a pedal I absolutely love on bass, it definitely does "enhance" your sound. Saw it 1st being used by Jennie Vee on her bass pedal board. Great pedal.

      Handy tool! They seem to get a lot of hate in forums, I think they have their place 😁

      @@JonnyDibble Me too! (having their place). There's lots of "talk" of how it cuts then boosts certain frequencies (none of which I understand) but things just sound better when it's kicked on.

    I use an MXR Bass DI and the only thing i would raise a bit on my Hartke LH 500 head was the bass but the mids and treble were flat and I adjusted on the pedal because it sounded better that way, I just got a Gallien-Krueger RB700 and it has a nice low end so it's almost neutral and I adjust the pedal.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  3 роки тому

      The RB700 is one of my favourite heads! I played one with my sansap into my old Ampeg 610 and it was MONSTEROUS. Thanks for checking it out!

    Hey cool! Got 5 pedals on the board and last one is a S/Stomp. With a notoriously squishy Boss CS-3 at the top of the chain needing low frequency boost, the BBE does it with the LO full up. The old big version with 2 separate knobs I have.

    Definitely not a bad sounding product! But at that price tag you might as well spend a little more and get something more premium. Definitely not something I’d buy unless I found a good deal on it on the used market.

    Love your vids Jonnie, but this pedal doesn't seem to do much IMHO. Heck, I have a Behringer $35 SA clone which does more than this thing does. Of course I have a much better gain pedal in the Bass Fat Drive which I didn't use much after I got a vintage tube amp w a MV and a dist channel, which was always cranked so I had MORE than enough gain, sometimes too much on the slower songs.
    BTW, I noticed a Green-Day tone during the demo.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  3 роки тому

      Yeah preamps will do a more to shape the tone, this is more of an exciter to bring clarity, super subtle at time though I agree and expensive! Cheers man 😊

    I had a rack version for years. I loved the thing but ended up needing space in my rack and gave it to a friend. I miss that thing.
    Have you ever tried DNA amps? It is the newer line of stuff from David, the guy who founded Eden. I've been on their artist roster for years, playing their 1350 head and and 410 cabinet.

They're warmer and more articulate than the old Eden stuff, way more powerful, and dead silent in between notes. Check out dnaamps.com if you get a chance.
