It's astounding! Mayor Dugan is trying so hard to get rid of the blight. It's like a weird ghost town in the neighborhoods, with a twist. You best keep your wits around you in the Motown hood! Enter at your own peril.
Most of the open spaces there, just lots with overgrown grass, used to be filled with housing. City looked worse 15-20 years ago as they were all still there and decaying or half burnt down.
The house I grew up on was once a beautiful two story home. Nice big porch...so much character. It’s now razed to the ground. There are some areas that are nicer thanks to immigrants and refugees mostly. Michigan could have resettled so many Syrian refugees to already established Arab speaking communities. Too bad. In my opinion anyway.
It's really sad to see the house I grew up in by Tireman and Greenview boarded up and the neighborhood looks like someone dropped a fucking bomb on it. It's slowly moving into where I live now which is about 5 miles south of Detroit. It's already getting shity in my neighborhood with low life's moving in. I'll probably have to move within the next 5 years.
Whilst in Toronto,I literally hopped on a Greyhound bus to see some of the US.My Visa extended two weeks later and I wouldn't miss the opportunity.I did drugs for several yrs.(Now on methadone, also been on suboxone-feels sort of like a prison too but that's another story)Still maybe that's why I wanted to see Detroit.Visited nearly 15 states(Until I got mugged in NYC🗽but again-different story😉It was interesting in so many ways, met so many different ppl.& since I'm from Europe I'm glad I visited Detroit.Guess the city have seen better days,(Cars, music scenes etc.,Sad to see Detroit like this-it could've been a very nice city by the waterfront & all.(Probably was before ppl.started loosing their jobs..?What happened & what can be done to make Detroit a bit more wealthier/healthier,are there any plans.(Abandoned houses & so on)♥️from Oslo,Norway,Northwest Europe:-)
I wonder how much land you could buy in that area for say 100k? and would you have to do anything with it after you buy it? they ain't making anymore land.
I think that letting nature take its course is the best answer. Rip up the neighborhood side streets and plant two oak trees on every lot that had a house torn down. Allow a giant forest to grow.
And about every major urban area in this country now. Don't blame political parties, blame the 1% taking 90% of this country's wealth and controlling our govt. How's Reagan's "trickle down" theory of the 80's working out for everyone?
I go on there all the time and it is crazy to look at how all the houses were just packed together and the cars driving down the streets to empty lots with no cars and just grass growing up the cracks of the roads.
If you define "twisted culture" as the auto companies building plants an hour north of the city, and black transplants from the south being denied insurance and mortgages...then yes.
Its a shame what has happened to Detroit and our country. Its not fair.
@Steve _ Some are still here, Gilbert is buying Detroit for pennies on the dollar.
I left Detroit in '68 never to return! Thank God.
Good riddance
@@steverhodesvideos6244 Thank you!
I have to keep reminding myself that these vacant lots once had houses on them.

Ain't shit
All those beautiful homes . . . What a waste.
It's coming back.
If these ruins could be teleported to the UK I reckon every one of them would be bought and fixed up.

So many abandoned buildings. If they could talk what a story they'd tell.
I agree.
What's crazier is the vast majority of that empty land use to be filled with homes.
This came up on my feed. Iam sad for Detroit. Wish I knew an answer for the problem. Thanks for posting.
It's like ghost town almost. I'd be too scared there
Steve, your a Legend! Love & maximum respect from N.W.London, England. #NorthWeazy, lol.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😉💯😬
Sign of the times
unbelievable there's nothing left of the city, it looks like your driving on the country side.
It's getting better. At least downtown where it was starting to look similar. There's only one way to go after being this low; UP!
tons of space for massive gardening
Agree. Agriculture. As long as they don't spray Round Up like they do everywhere in my rural area, still. 🙄
Or an urban farming Enterprise!
Flat , open areas ideal for solar farms?
Solar doesn't do well in places like Michigan.
Love detroit
Good ol detroit.
Pure Michigan
On the plus side....there is lots of parking space.
Even the termites left
WTF...5 min of side streets before u get to Warren...
Fuck off
@@ChosenWon no u
I lived by there on wade street
Cool
It's very quiet there - like a post - apocalyptic movie... 😔
A lot of the once city looks like rural America
This is such a small portion of the city. Trust me, it's not rural looking at all.
and may I say it is political, it starts with our greedy politicians👇
Jesus loves you all very much!!!
Take yourself into Detroit and tell them that instead of trying be a munter online. Foolish flop

Good question. I wouldn't do it. Not here.
I wouldn't either.
+Ghuzz Chandler Many neighborhoods are war zones with no inmediate plans for the future.

Too much money in this area. A perfect location.
Looks like Pittsburgh PA...

Can you do Cadillac and Candfield next?
Sure
If their people who living in the vancy house take care the property why can't stay there?
Warren Ave.? Looks like Canfield to me.
The poorest of the poor get left behind, don't they?
ever go to aerial historicals .com? it will show you what these area used to look like.
