I love when a band I’ve never heard of picks cool stuff I’ve never heard! So, I am now a fan of this band and on a quest for some of the selections they shared. Music, the infinite gift. Cheers!
i love them so much. i always check out nai's recommendations (music, movies, documentaries, etc) and i'm never disappointed so i will be listening to all of these 💕
Simon bringing out Bill Evans is the most amazing thing ever! It explains EVERYTHING as to why I love his play and composition! I cannot listen to Bill Evans on "Kind of Blue" without crying. Periodt. Just thinking about his performance on that record puts me in tears. ONLY Bill Evans shares writing credit with Miles Davis on "Kind of Blue." I had my whole collection stolen, and I HAD to make the first replacement the "Kind of Blue." Definitively, my next acquisition, "Portraits in Jazz," Bill Evans Trio. Perrin with OP?! DUDE! Now this helps explain why I end up bawling eyes out while listening to Hiatus Kaiyote tracks, especially when Simon's work is front and center, and why I am enamored by all of their efforts!
Carlos Nino and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson are in my top 5 for artist. It's good to see how young they are and how "seasoned" their music selection is. PROPS!
Years back a mate gave me a Plaid mix burned on a CD that I flogged the shit out of in the car and just loved. I always meant to find out what the stand out track of the mix was and never got around to it. Years go by and some rando who looks like he’s from Melbourne whips out a record by John Wizards on a Amoeba vid and I hear it. It’s all coming up Millhouse today my friends.
Can't listen to charlie brown christmas without remembering that hilarious running gag from arrested development. This guys are super chill and i wanna be their friends. Greetings from argentina!
That was great. I’m with the keyboard player’s selection! Herbie Hancock! Twist: Nai Palm is not the one with the “out there” music! …love that record cover design of the newspaper. I relate to Nai Palm’s selection, only cause my family has old records, like Noddy and “Little Brave Sambo” (changed from the racist original), so much to unpack, but I turned out good.
The keyboard player has an odd Devo T-shirt with the flower pot hat. With all of the piano based jazz picks, I'm surprised he didn't pull out Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage".
you can literally hear how their individual influences work their way into the band's compositions, brilliant brilliant brilliant group!!!
I’ve always loved this band…”choose your weapon” will forever be one of my top 5 favorite albums.
Mood Valiant is top tier

OMG!! I was hoping one day they'd be on! Epic band!
Hiatus Kaiyote & Whats In My Bag have been a part of my life since college and to see the two combined is incredible
Such a good band, and that drummer is a beast on the kit too. Love their picks! Good episode!
Perrin Moss has a great solo project too, Clever Austin ~
@@RayasNegroOvejas I was about to say that. Very good stuff, yet it feels like its pretty overlooked even by HK fans. Such a talented/skilled dude.
@@RayasNegroOvejas it’s so gooooddddd
Favorite episode ever, thanks for putting them on. What a phenomenal set of musicians with such a diverse music taste.
I discovered these guys about 3 years ago and I love them so fucking much man.

i love them so much. i always check out nai's recommendations (music, movies, documentaries, etc) and i'm never disappointed so i will be listening to all of these 💕
The last thing i expected Nai to pull out of her bag was a Ghanaian highlife record….. i knew there was a reason I loved her so much, i could just cry
This explains why the band is amazing
bambi and charlie brown's christmas records are dope. two of my favorites
This band is so dope! I love that each one stands out individually in their songs and style. Perrin Moss is a bad ass drummer!

never been recommended anything bad by this band tbh! all quality people
Omg can tell they are from Melbourne straight away love'em
Nai Palm is one of the most aggressively odd people on the planet.
She's the next generation Bjork
Killer metaphor there “aggressively odd” 😆💜😆💜😆 F’ing brilliant!
They're quirky just like Melbourne!! Nice and fun.
Love the music, but she seems to be one of those people who's exhausting to be around.
She's definitely extroverted, for sure. I bet she's a lot calmer offstage, though. We mostly see her in surrealist space alien band leader mode.
Now Ive got me some good albums to check out this week. #BLESSED
A true music lover will always be a student of music ❤
One of the best episodes I've seen from this series !!
I love them🥺So happy I found this video.
I’ll listen to Christmas Time Is Here any time of the year. Truly a beautiful record.

Wow I just heard gentle thoughts for the first time 😭

All these records have mysteriously meandered into my bag also. 😊
Great picks, and so stoked to see John Wizards rate a mention from a GOAT artist like HK

Damn… my brother got me Herbie’s “Secrets” vinyl from a swap meet for a dollar a few weeks ago… what a fun coincidence
Thick as a Brink is an underrated album.

Willow Smith turned me on to her music. As I also love her music. I will be listening to some of these albums recommended. Love hiatus kayote.
I somehow had a feeling there would be a Zappa album and I was not disappointed.
This band is all I ever wanted to be,I get so emotional listening to shit like red room an rose water
What a dope band

Oh they’re TIGHT. Any music fan will like at least a few of their songs.

You can hear the influence of it in their music. One of my favorite genres. No wonder I love this band so much ❤️
Interesting that the drummer’s picks don’t seem to have any percussion on them. 😉
