I will say no spoilers Saul is a character from the second book they brought forward probably so they don't have to keep doing flashbacks in the second season but he becomes extremely important in the later part of the story. Will also may or may not become important I don't really want to give away too much. Also, the nuclear propulsion things are an actual real thing that was called Project Orion developed by NASA. While it was never implemented mostly because of the sheer cost and danger of nuclear weapons, and the nuclear test treaty of 1963 which all nuclear countries signed saying they wouldn't test nuclear weapons in space. Theoretically, many scientists say it absolutely could work if done right as they did some non nuclear test models and were successful.
Alex Sharp went method acting and lost a ton of weight for later episodes to portray Will. Alex was the first one casted for the show for a reason too :) Now more background on why buying a star is romantic. In classic Chinese literatures, women would often ask men if they can attain the moon or a star to show as a sign of devotion of their love and since this is a Chinese sci-fi series, this is used intentionally for a clever reason.
Yes we actually just finished recording the last episode! Sorry for the delay, one of our siblings just got married so the past few weeks have been super busy with the wedding/travel and it's been hard to find time to record/edit. Should be back to normal soon!
