    The Sunday and public holiday surcharges are because staff are paid a higher rate on those days.

      Good to know why they are passing on the charges. This is not something done in the US or UK.

      It is. UK has a longer heritage that is 'special' but Melbourne was once the wealthest City in the world 1855 GOLD RUSH so many Buildings were constructed in that era with no expense spared.

      @@danielradd111what a dumb thing to say, what are you even replying to? Every hostel in England is 3/4 full of Aussies. It’s a right of passage for most, do you live in the middle of nowhere and only met a handful of people in your life?

    As you have found out, tipping is almost none existent due to higher wages and all prices of food, supermarkets to even cars all taxes are including the price - so you ony pay as listed in a restaurant supermarket or shop

    Hello Anton and Selena! It’s been such a long time since I’ve watched 🤦🏾‍♀️🙈. I’m having a catch up session. Really enjoying seeing your trip to Melbourne. How long was the flying time from Melbourne? I’m in London, still here in blighty! So I know it’s 24 hours flying time from here! Anyway, I’ll get back to the rest of the video to see what you experienced. 😊

    Enjoy your stay! :)

      We will do a follow up video on our overal thoughts and if we would pick Australia over the US.

    Strange, I've noticed a massive increase of homeless in Melbourne in the last several years, but I suppose compared to most other cities overseas there's not many still

    Hi there, I have visited your UA-cam channel. Your channel is good, and your content quality is so attractive. But there are some mistakes here. Your content quality is excellent. But if you can solve these problems, you can do well on UA-cam. And if you want, I can do these things.

    Well, Melbourne was a nice city 12-10years ago, now it became a hole full of 3rd world immigrants, mostly from India and very expensive, also very voke and government is bankrupted, overcrowded with red cameras on almost every corner, with low paid jobs, it was unbearable to live there. I left Melbourne after 17 years and moved to QLD as many Victorians do ! Melbourne once the most liveable city in the world became place not to be! Sad!

      @@sallymay24 well, yes when I arrived to Melbourne 17 years ago, it was nice city, at that time they said Melbourne is the most European city in Australia and I agreed it reminded me on my native European continent in many ways and I liked it and enjoyed, however the last 4-3 years Melbourne started to be overcrowded and the most Indian city in Australia, sorry this is not for me, so I left like many Melbournians, those who witnessed the fall of Melbourne to 3rd world city, I am not so sure what this city won, but it is far away from liveable city, the CBD is full of homeless people and shut down shops, the golden time of Melbourne is gone, no more place to be!

    • @ANTSEL
      @ANTSEL  9 місяців тому +2

      As we always say, everyone has different perspectives and opinions. In comparison to other cities the homelessness did not look anywhere near as bad as places in the USA, and even London. It definitely was not over crowded in our opinion, but we are used to busier cities.
      Out of curiosity, objectively, what makes Melbourne a "3rd world city"? Or is this just a throw away comment in reaction to the demographic of Melbourne changing? Specifically because you think having Indian people there makes it 3rd world? Or are Indians living there a separate issue for you?
      Personally, whilst I noticed Indians in Melbourne there was nothing out of the ordinary or negative about that in how we perceived Melbourne. We noticed many cultures in Melbourne. This was not a negative thing. We were born in London which has always been fairly multicultural, therefore I guess we do not see the issue.

    • @jeanvonbarberode2377
      @jeanvonbarberode2377 9 місяців тому

      @@ANTSEL Yes I agree with you as I used to lived and work in London in late 90 and then for a while in 2003 and I saw the changes in demographic, now is London more middle east and Africa than Europe, I am coming from EU country where there is no multicultural society and my country is refusing to go the same path as England, France or Germany. But even in 2004 as I arrived to Melbourne the Melbourne did not have many immigrants from 3rd world, mostly people with European descent. I am worry about Melbourne as the city goes same path as London, Paris, Brussel, its woke, a lot of debts, stupid government, the highest taxes from all states of Australia, not reliable public transport and pretty control freak attitude. Criminality especially in the Western suburbs is alarming, where most of those 3rd world immigrants are living. It looks nice only on the surface, but if you look deeper you will see all the issues what this unbalanced immigration caused. I moved to Queensland recently from the same reason as many Melbournians of European descend and I am fine here now it reminds me Melbourne 15 years ago here.
