This is really great stuff! Albert Collinswith his unique touch and voice and then Gary Moore, the best electric guitar player ever lived; what a joy to watch them having fun. Gary, ready to explode, but two blues players doing what they like most!
This performance brings me into tears. Two of my lifetime Blues heroes. In my humble opinion two of the best ever. This is a performance of a lifetime. One can see the obvious respect these two guitar legends had towards each other. It is just majestic when Albert''s tone mixes with Gary's. Music history in the making.
This piece is classic; It kicks your ass all the way through; neither player tried to show boat one another. Every thing they did blended to perfection! RIP to both these giants.
Gary moore is amazing!! people like gary moore and SRV made blues even more interesting, Gary moore hits a note and goes straight through your heart, he is great !!!
+robert rohde - Totally agree. That was Gary's style. He was in his element when he was playing fast. A burst of fast playing gave this cut an originality that you don't see very often in the slow blues. Nothing wrong with shakin' it up a bit every not and then.
In this houses humble opinion, the fact that the likes of Albert King, Albert Collins and BB King shared the state with Gary speaks volumes. I don't know why anyone would nit-pick - unless you're a better musician and none of us know about it.
The Albert's King and Collins both tried to explain to Gary sometimes less is more. He never grasped the concept. Don't get me wrong Moore is an incredable player, but this music comes from the heart not from the shreding. Iceman brilliant as always. RIP Guys.
Gary Moore has paid nothing but due respect to the Blues Greats. His tribute to Albert King and Collins shows in his playing. And,like any individual,he has to play it his way......Keep the Blues alive.
Absolutely outstanding . Gary is one of my favorites. Albert is great. Both extremely expressive and creative. Yes, there was no upmanship. It's how they each experience that pain.
Its funny how a song written about such bad feelings and desperation, "Im gonna put everybody down who once make a fool of me" "I got a cold cold feeling" can make you feel so good? That's why I love the blues. I've watched this video 1000 times and NEVER get tired of it.
Gary Moore is a legendary player in his own right as is Albert Collins, he doesn't just always shred, his playing is technically great as is the mast of the telecaster.... Great performance!!
It happens sometimes that the apprentice excels the master and this is a tribute to the master, not a diminushment of him, Gary Moore has shown nothing but due respect to each and evryone of them ,of whom we need not mention.
Agree with you there. If I want to explain to someone what the blues is for me...I just let them watch Albert Collins in this video...he is(was) the blues.
Yeah! Good grief! What a sound! This is a magically Blues dans toute sa portée grandiose, no doubt at all! Marvelously played by Albert and Gary! Albert got this Blues voice that i can't forget for ever and ever. You touch my soul men with this damn Blues and I can't get out of it this afternoon... Best Blues regards
Albert never gave a performance without reaching deep and meaning every word and note he said. He's gotta Buddha like demeanor and spark to his eyes. The man was channeling some serious vibes.
Actually his guitar cord was like 150' long! He played a joint here and went all up and down the isles, then out in the street, all over-- what a showman. Glad I was able to see him alive.
Good guitar playing is like listening to a pretty woman talk. No one wants to sit and listen to her go on and on, and on, nonstop. But when she takes her time, weighs her words, speaks less, but says more, it means a lot and you're captivated by her every word...
Gary Moore plays the blues as he wants... he's a good and ranked rock guitarist in the world. But HERE, the Master of blues is really Albert Collins. Few or lots of notes, emotion, soul, soft or wild solos : it's a wonderful lesson of blues.
Albert the Icepick Man! One of the nicest guys who ever became a musician....so amiable and always in a good mood. From what i've read Gary got on better with Collins & BB King rather than Albert King. Can't believe both Alberts plus Gary are gone. R.I.P. gentlemen.
Grandes maestros del blues ,casi se han ido todos pero han dejado sus conocimientos a las nuevas generaciones de músicos que esta preparando la leyenda viviente Buddy Guy.
I notice some comments below criticizing GM saying he was playing too fast too loud or whatnot, but I couldn't disagree more. He plays his solo with real passion and pretty much follows the several thematic motifs that AC uses throughout the piece! Listen folks, quit talking about the notes that aren't played and listen to those that are. GM's solo here is powerful, tasteful and respectful of AC - no showboating!
It is so powerful, I can watch the video without sound, without headphones-not even knowing the performance piece, on a 3rd party computer and be tranfixed by this man and his musical originality. Priceless. Thanks for the submission.
Perfectly worded. I couldn't agree with you more. Besides, has anyone ever heard Gary's song Texas Blues. The entire song is just paying tribute to other guitarists.
He actually does the impossible and makes Gary look bad on this! Unbelievable! And this was one of Gary's best concerts. Messiah still leaves my jaw on the floor. Please don't start flaming because I'm not comparing the two and I'm sure GM would be the first to agree with me. Two legends on one stage.
Man!!! I can't believe what I hear that Gary Moore is underated. How the hell is that possible and for him not be on Rolling Stones list of top 100 guitar players.,, Unbelievable not the way this guy plays man
This is really great stuff! Albert Collinswith his unique touch and voice and then Gary Moore, the best electric guitar player ever lived; what a joy to watch them having fun. Gary, ready to explode, but two blues players doing what they like most!
Thirty-one years later, this still gives me goosebumps.
same ! that’s why a thousand guitarists will tell you AC is a huge influence
RIP Brother Gary Moore. It will never be the same without you sustaining those notes touching our soul.
Albert Collins was a genius. He actually made his guitar say words. He will be be greatly missed by many.Gone but never forgotten!
Shredding can come from the heart too. Feeling is unique to every person.

Except frampton!
It's a pleasure to hear Albert Collins...! his guitar speaks.
This performance brings me into tears. Two of my lifetime Blues heroes. In my humble opinion two of the best ever. This is a performance of a lifetime. Everybody has their own ways of playing. Two of the very best here!!
This piece is classic; It kicks your ass all the way through; neither player tried to show boat one another. Every thing they did blended to perfection! RIP to both these giants.
Brilliant! I never ceased to be amazed by how much emotion the great bluesmen can pack into a single note.
Gary moore is amazing!! people like gary moore and SRV made blues even more interesting, Gary moore hits a note and goes straight through your heart, he is great !!!

Great performance
