This is the Saxo-Didge, and it's awesome! (I'm playing the "Smooth Gypsy" model, by the way.) Here's a first glimpse... Check it out here: bit.ly/SD-David
I would not have expected such great sounds out of a saxodidge. In retrospect though, it makes perfect sense. It leverages the saxophone's conical shape, large bell, good projection and handling characteristics, which have been refined over a long time. It is like playing a bari saxophone with all holes closed, but with a didge embouchure rather than a reed.
The secret of this instrument is not the conical saxophone shape, but the very special generation of the inner shape using directed evolution tools developed by Dr.Frank Geipel (see „didgeridoo-physik“ in the web). 🇩🇪💪🏼
@@faruhonest-freegunupi I agree with each of you, actually. The inner shape makes a huge difference, yes, but the way the saxophone shape can be handled also contributes a lot. I played a Geipel design in a straight, typical didge shape years ago, and I like this one a lot better!
THIS SHIT IT DOPEEEE! Very cool. I was havin a moment with some of that playing. Thanks for sharing, and showing me what my instrument collection was missing haha
Your channel is great. And just so you know...and you may already know this...practicing the didgeridoo is GREAT for people who suffer from Sleep Apnea. I've implemented some of what I've learned from you on my own UA-cam Channel, and I hope you keep producing excellent content! Everyone should give the Didge a try!
Fantastic demo. Thanks, and great to see you back. Shame about the price though. You can understand the price for a nice woodslide or Hard fibreglass slide because of the time and materials that went into making it. But this is probably 3D printed or easily cast nowdays especially being plastic based.
I know. I hear you. It can feel like a hard sell when looking at a plastic instrument. From what I understand, a lot of workmanship goes into these, as they still have to be refined by hand. All that being said, I just LOVE playing it!
Hi David, thanks so much for this review! Because I know that you also have experience with "The Crow" didgeridoo which probably shares a similar internal design, key and certainly the same Drone to 1st Toot interval, do you feel the Smooth Gypsy shares anything in common with the Crow? Since I too have played the Crow and am now seriously considering the Gypsy Saxo-Didge, your insight would be invaluable. Thanks again!
Oh man, I wish I'd gotten back to you a lot sooner! Sorry about that. Yes, I remember the "The Crow," and to be quite honest, I like this one a LOT better. It plays more smoothly, has a more desirable drone, has really lovely resonance that the thick walls of the crow somewhat lacked. It's just a higher quality instrument over all, and a lot more fun to play!
@taffmanguyo some of the dumbest logic I've ever heard. Just to start, this isn't a masterpiece. It's a plastic didj. Something that at most should be $200-300. No one should give the fraudster selling these a dime. Masterpiece... lol gtfoh
You are WAY BEYOND accomplished, experienced, and qualified to speak and teach on this subject. You are excellent, keep up the great work! 💙
Thanks, that really means a lot to me!
Glad to see you back! Just got a Didge and you've helped me immensely.
I'm so glad to hear that!
Awesome brother !! great to have you back.....i want one of those 🙂
Right? They're so cool!
It's a pleasure to listen to you play, beautiful instrument
Thank you!
Glad you are back. Taught myself to didge with yuour videos. Don't stop creating content. THANKS!
Aw, that's sweet. Glad I've been able to help you on your journey!

Haha, thanks so much! Glad you liked it!
This makes me want a twice as long didgeridoo to get more overtones using the second harmonic as the root
Yeah, that kind of thing is super fun!

Thanks, I appreciate your kind words. And yes, I've heard that the practice of playing didge really can help with sleep apnea. That's cool!

Wow it blew my mind 😯
Same here!
WOW. Great sound.❤
Right? It sounds amazing. I'm pretty surprised, to be honest!
I love it, I love Stawberryman but I just can't justify the spend, they are so expensive! 🐰💓🙏
I hear you on that one. The price is steep for sure. To be honest, though, I'd trade away most of my sticks for this one. I like it that much more!
I was thinking digeridon’t but was pleasantly surprised by your critique and demonstration.
Me too, at first. It completely blew away all my expectations.
@@Breathwood …pardoning your pun…lol

Il est beau mais à plus de 2000€ c'est abusé!!!
How was yours tuned
Wow, awesome instrument..... love it. Could I borrow a piece of sample for a EDM project? I will credit you for it.
If you still want to... go for it!
woooahhh
😂
Can you cup the end like a trumpet for more different sounds
Kind of? It doesn't create the most exciting effect.
so true, recordings still can't capture the full sound of didgeridoo.
Agreed!
A one-note instrument?
One fundamental note, yep, plus all the higher toot notes. That's didge for ya!
For $2,500 USD? I'll see myself out...
I'm willing to drop $250, or even $350 right now.
I know right? For plastic? No thank you
@@JasonwithaJay what about for a few $ of paint used on a Picasso masterpiece?
@@TaffmanGuyo Picasso never created a masterpiece.

Watch out bud you'll attract UFOs.
Still waiting for that to happen!
It looks as if the hand and arm holding the pressure against the mouth will tire qiuckly. In your case, your left arm. Looks like a bad angle to me.
You are too apologetic about your saxodidge playing David. I would love to have a tiny fraction of your ability.
Thanks, that's really sweet of you!
