Joshua Carroll indeed... and for all the “he’s a Holdsworth wanna-be” cries, Bill was tastefully and quietly his own consummate musician. I happen to be an enormous AH fan as well, but these mid eighties records were magical!
Personal opinion only , i always though Bill was more melodic a player than Al D. during & after the time he spent wit Return to Forever. Nothing taken away from Al as he commands huge respect as does Billy. Bill has such feel & dynamics as he always has. Great CD as are the others he's done. Way to underrated except to those that know his work.
I studied with Bill for a few years. Bill has a ton of soul and feeling. Comparing Al to Bill is like comparing Gilmour with Yngwie. One is flash and the other is substance. I would rather stick with the guy that has substance.
I read and interview with Connors describing his arrival to RTF. He was shocked to see large amplifiers, as he was expecting to be part of the Light As A Feather style RTF from the previous version of the band with Airto on drums. He left after the Hymn Of The 7th Galaxy (another of the many Ron Hubbard tribute albums) and made some lovely acoustic recordings for ECM. I suppose he wanted some commercial success so he turned to electric for a more modern sound. No complaints here!
I (barely) remember it, and probably still have it stashed somewhere. An ECM release, to the best of my memory. Truth be told, I like his electric stuff a lot more.. but he can do it all.

Step It (1985) Double Up (1986) Assembler (1987) Beautiful textual compositions💥
Trab Rex I dig them all!! Have you ever heard Group 87's first album? Excellent stuff...
I'm back in that place I don't want to leave. Thank you for this upload.

warrens brother??
Wonderful tone too
Beautifully expressive cries like the blues, love Bill's tone, bass and drums are tasty as can be.
Just beautifull !!...totally "in the pocket"
This was my favorite. Tom Kennedy on bass and Kim Plainfield on drums absolutely kill it.

And just when I thought I'd finally found a BC thread where AH wasn't mentioned... :P
The search continues ;)

Good trip music
I loved all of Bill’s electric stuff... but perhaps when he slowed down he was at his best... the proof is in the pudding right here.

The only album ( years ago) I had of BC was his acoustic work...really good....
Bill did a really interesting acoustic album many years ago...
