    So with player backstory reveals, I always favor crafting the narrative of what that backstory is and some amount of how it’s going to potentially affect the party with the player in question. That way they can use their narrative time in the game to help set up the reveal, seeding the information and getting the rest of the party invested in it because they’re invested in the other PC, AND they’ve participated in crafting the moment so while they may not know when/how I’m going to drop the bombshell, they DO know how to behave to help sell it, and how the reveal impacts their character.
