Classic Poker Chips unboxing review

  • This is my custom made clay poker chips from Classic Poker Chips. These were made for The Shed, a weekly friday night poker game. I was tired of the dime a dozen slugged Chinese chips that we've been using, so I commissioned these bad boys to take their place. This was my first go around, in retrospect, I wish I ordered more! These were pretty pricy though, more than I really could afford, but...if you are reading this, you probably understand!

      Just ordered a custom set from them. 800 chips all the same shape inlay, less complicated edge spots. $1700

    CPC's do cost more, but they are a lifetime investment. I still have my primary set from them back when they were ASM from 2012. They are still awesome and still used several times a month. I love yours, the 5K is actually my favorite - I really dig the unconventional colors. My set is standard Vegas colors for tournament play, I would love to get another set some day with a non-traditional palette.

      I totally agree (an investment) I've been using them weekly for 9 months now and I they look absolutely brand new still. Still hard to pass the poker table and not pick some up and riffle them, its like a compulsion! They play great, I have no regrets spending the money, hope they stay in business for a long time, as they seem to have the clay market all to themselves. Not interested in the ceramics...too i don't know...not right. The 5K , is a lot of my groups favorite, but it doesn't work well with the 10,000, unfortunately. Too much yellow (couldn't tell that would've been a problem until they were being used together) I've ordered replacements. Still grey with the cog, no yellow spots. Will use the grey yellow as alternates or for a really big game. Always find it amazing that people watch and have the same hobbies, cheers Christopher!

    Wonder why you did 1000 dollar black chip when blacks are typically 100 and yellows are 1000

  • @txterbug

    Those stack so cleanly bro. It’s all about how they stack. The best chips in the world (paulsons) look like one big barrel when they are stacked.

    Really nice looking set of clays. That 1000 chip is really sharp. Wish there were a couple other places to buy custom clays though.

      Hey James, Thanks for the feedback. I posted this months ago and really didn't think anyone would care, so I haven't checked on it since then! But anyway, the $1000 is sharp looking, except when you stack them. It's so weird, the color combination of the spots for some reason makes it impossible to see them sharply. They are always in a mind bending sort of fuzz when not alone. It must be an optical illusion due to the colors, but it's very strange and very real! All the other chips, sharp as tack, but the blacks, impossible to focus. We've grown used to them and love them for their weirdness! Anyway, yeah they were expensive, but I use them every Friday, and they truly feel great. The quality was top notch..makes me want to buy more now, thanks!

    I was 100% confused^ about the black chips thinking they were 100s first. However the design itself is outstanding!! If I came over to somebody and they'd offer to play with those chips I'd be pretty much blown away^^

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme 3 роки тому +1

      LOL. I thought the same thing. The universal "rule" is that black is always 100s. First time I've ever seen a black that's not 100!

      Thanks Mike. I just sent away for new $5000 chips last week. My favorite is the $10,000 chip. The 5's upon playing them do not work well with the 10's. Too much yellow, confusing especially since it's late in the game at that point and many adult drinks have been had! It's really hard to tell though until its in your stack how it's going to look.

    • @mikedahlstrom6650
      @mikedahlstrom6650 6 років тому

      What color are you going with for the new 5’s?

    • @tonymiltz6051
      @tonymiltz6051  6 років тому

      Still grey, in case I need more chips for a tournament, I could still use them like an alternate version. I went to light brown and maroon spots. Pretty much like the $5000 chip from World Top Hat and Cane. It actually works well with the brown cigar on the logo. It got to be to expensive to use a high level spot progression because they wanted a 100 chip minimum for reruns. I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a $4.50 chip. As is were they are $3.00 per! They will have no colors that are on any other chip. My poker buddies think I'm nuts, but it really bugged me and something had to be done! Wish they were cheaper, but they are nice. I'll post a redo when they get here. They were paid for last week, can't wait.

      Ryan Oreilly probably right. I didn’t know it was rule. We’ve always just played that way, we get along with the offending chip just fine though and I have no intention on selling them, (who would buy screwed up colors anyway!) so it’ll do. Thanks!

    Thanks for that unboxing. I'm thinking about ordering from them. However, I suppose that the customised chips are even more expensive than the already pricey stock one...

    • @tonymiltz6051
      @tonymiltz6051  6 років тому +2

      yeah, they are not cheap. The stock ones are really not that much of a discount. At that point, you may as well have fun designing your own and saving up for it. It's really easy to get the price higher and higher with the cool design tool they have, I know I had sticker shock. But I'm not complaining, they play great and were totally worth it! Plus you'll have them really forever, they are quality.

    Beautiful chips! I run a poker league and seriously considering a 1000 chips set from them. I have a couple Paulson sets but custom chips sound absolutely perfect. How much did these run you after shipping?

    • @tonymiltz6051
      @tonymiltz6051  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! I think it was around $2300 for all of them. Of course the higher value ones were the most expensive as they had multiple complex spots. I think the $10,000 ones were around $4.50 per chip. Been using them for a few years now and they are just as nice as the day I bought them. I've cleaned and oiled them once and they look amazing after that.

      No, I didn't make the inlays myself. I don't have that skill set. If you do, the Classic Poker Chip web site has a template to you in photoshop or AI or whatever. I used a designer, John Faulhaber of J5 Designs. He is the same guy who made the Paulson Pharaohs chips. He made a logo file for me as well, I've been putting it on everything I could think of, shirts, chip box, signs, glasses etc.

    Very nice! I'm getting my custom set tomorrow from another supplier but I did almost go with classic, I toyed around with their design tool many times. Now after seeing your vid, I wonder if I should've went with them instead. OH well, too late, I already ordered my set and will be posting my own unboxing soon.

      What did you go with? Ceramics? Did you post a video yet?

    • @dragonshane
      @dragonshane 6 років тому

      I did go with ceramics thru casinosupply, which I guess they use a company called PGI that uses casinotek ceramic chips. Haven't posted the video yet, I'm in the middle of moving and need to do some editing. For now, I'll say I'm somewhat pleased with my design. A little disappointed that 4 of the chips arrived chipped, perhaps thru transit. However, just after 2 games, and a player dropping a few chips from waist level, down to my tile floor, a couple of them also chipped. So that kinda sucks, after I had tried to justify to my friends the reason I spent so much money was that these would last years and years with limited wear, lol. Luckily, casinosupply is replacing the few damaged chips for free. But I'll be looking to sell these and go back to the drawing board, literally, lol

    • @tonymiltz6051

      Nice, I subscribed to your channel, looking forward to seeing the chips. I spent a ton on the chips, but I have a carpeted floor, so no worries there! They also sent I believe about 10% extra of each chip, I assume in case of defects, which I thought was pretty cool.
