Mayport Jetty Fishing with Dinsmore Outdoors (Jacksonville, FL)

- I did a UA-cam Collab video with Dinsmore Outdoors. We went fishing at the Jetties on the Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida.
I caught a variety species of fish using the tsunami spoon and gotcha plugs.

Good day out there. "Cat will get it", ha ha! I've only fished the inlet from a boat, not from the jetty itself. You really have to fish the correct times/current as some days nothing will bite.
We were there on a good day for sure👍🎣
I steer ships through there! I need to go fish right there!
I wish I joined the Navy and retired from there so I can get in the base and fish the Mayport Jetties every chance I get. The only frustrating things about that place is that you will lose a lot of tackle from the rocks, strong outgoing incoming current, and the narrow window of productive fishing which is low tide.
I wish veterans could get on without having to ask someone. 👍🎣 It’s a great place to fish.
There’s always the other side at Hugenot State Park. The only problem is dealing with a lot of people gathering which hopefully isn’t too bad right now with rules against large groups and what also sucks is only being able to fish from 6-11 and then in the later hours of the afternoon right now. Can’t even night fish on the beach by yourself which is ridiculous. We should be able to fish whenever we damn well please even right now during the coronapocolypse but oh we’ll I’ll still go put the kayak in off the beach when I can I guess, gotta watch out for the annoying surfers who think they own the beach/water there. No matter what I’ll find a way to make the mayport jetties work this summer. They’re awesome.

There are a lot of people that are beach guards and work once a month you get base access I work their and some ppl I know do that

Im stationed here right now. And brand new to fishing. Hopefully i see you here at the jetty . I would love to learn stuff from you
I had a buddy get me on base and he just went on deployment so I’m not going to be out there for a while.

It was my first time there but luckily we both were able to hook up multiple times; unfortunately the blues liked me better than the Spanish but loved the fight
Do you have to have a base pass to get their? I always go to little jetties but it isn’t worth it
Yes you gotta have a pass or have someone get you on.
Did you use the same lure the whole time?
No I lost a few gotcha plugs then went with a tsunami I believe. It’s been a few years since I posted that video.

Sure; the jetty’s on the Mayport Naval Base. You have to have someone get you on the base if your non-military.
How do you fish the jetty because I’m always stopped by the naval base? Is the other side good for fishing by the Huguenot jetty? But how does someone fish this side?
You have to get someone to get you on the base or if your in a boat you gotta be stealth and make sure the gates are closed and then fish that area maybe 15 min then scoot outta there before the he gunboat shows up.
You don’t want JSO to catch you there.
They took all my info and I can’t fish those rocks any longer or it could be a big fine and they can take confiscate your boat.
So I stick to the end of the jetty’s now.
The Huguenot area is ok.

A gotcha Plug and then when I got cut off I started using a tsunami plug/spoon from Walmart

They are on the base.
Do spanish regularly run in that area?
I think it’s like twice a year

What is limit for blue fish in Jax?
A reduction limit is coming but I’m pretty sure it’s 5 at the moment. Must be 12” at the fork.
How long of rods do you use of the jetty
The tallest was an 8 footer…

I see you also like to fish from sketchy spots. One misstep, and you're eating rocks. Plenty of those locations around here, but smaller rocks, not boulders like you have.
Oh yea there was a big hole 🕳 right behind me that I almost fell back in to a few times. Luckily I never slipped and fell 🎣
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish Some of the largest fish are caught from spots like that. It's no surprise. If it looks like that above the water, imagine what it's like below.
Get some crabs and watch you catch big uglies all day long
