  • Well... she made it to her final resting spot for the next several months. I actually really like this FJ55 but dang its got some serious work that it needs. Not saying i dont want to do it as i want to learn as much as i can about these old iron pigs. Let me know your thoughts on this one... I have a light plan on what i want to do to her so stay tuned for future episodes on this rig.

Grew up with a 78 fj55 during the 80s until late 90s, too many memories to speak of, excellent choice to restore.

Please save this one and the other too. Nice videos keep making more of the complete rebuild, greetings from Costa Rica

Save the red FJ55!!! There were not many made worldwide and even fewer into the USA. Don’t restore it just do what you do and get it running and somewhat OK on the interior so you don’t feel like you need a shower every time you ride in it. I just pulled a 1F from my 1969 FJ55 with several parts eg fan. Also mine was running nicely with a Weber 32/36 carb so I know that will work.

Yeah I honestly think that’s the plan! I just want to see if drive again and maybe move it to the next owner. I agree there isn’t to many left. Got to save them when we can!!!

Really! That’s great news. Where do I plug the electric connector in from the carb?

@@mizeadventure9438 Same connection as the FJ60, you have to trace the wiring. Its on the same set of wires that go to the distributor & coil.

I think I’m going to build it up slightly and get it moving and have the next owner finish her.

In my country we only have (4) FJ55 left, people would trade their house for one even in this condition! Dont let the pigs die!!

I dont know you should see some of the other 55s in the area. this should be in a showroom compared to them ha

@@mizeadventure9438 If you do restore it the right way would be to remove the body and have it blasted. Then you'll REALLY see how bad it is. Anything straight is easy to fix but when you have to start buying custom panels the cost adds up very quickly.

    I have headlight trims from a 74.
Sale or trade. Looking for window rubber that can sub for original so if you have insight on that! Also, give a shout if you have headliner maker and maybe we can get a discount on two!

This FJ55 is not too far gone for someone with space, equipment, time and money required for such a project. You are well involved in Toyotas from another era which are better suited to your means. I have no doubt that in the future, you will be able to expand your love to older cars in miserable condition. Does your jaw strong enough to chew this one car already?

Seriously, I’d find a barn and leave it for some time in the future. Nothing you pointed out (and there were many, many other things you didn’t) will be quick, easy, or cheap. Until a project like that is finished it’s essentially worthless and you’ll be dumping a lot of money and effort into it. Focus on the Blue 55 would be my advice.

HAHA right? the things a mess and its def a project for the future. or pick little things off over time. i honestly would just like to see it move and drive to make it easier to store. also want to get parts for it now before they become even more expensive! ha My focus is totally the blue one. just been fighting issues one that thing to. which you will see in a upcoming EP on the channel.
