Green and White 73 fj55 was my second vehicle, Battleship Grey 69 Rebel Wagon was my first, 69 TR6 was my third. Wish I still had all of them, great memories!

I had one, same color. I bought it used in "79 or 80", It towed trailers well and was my work truck and daily driver in Montana. Being a builder, I had a rack built that I carried lumber on and used a quick scaffold as needed. I had it loaded up with my tools most of the time. It was a great vehicle. I am happy for you.

Congratulations on your awesome new 1972 Toyota LandCruiser FJ55. It's beautiful and I have never seen one with all the interior gages and equipment that you have, including the CB radio, or the front bumper with locking boxes and a shovel, and not a spot of rust on her either. I was surprised to see the backup fuel pump as well. Wow, what a truck. You are certainly lucky. I used to have a 1982 Toyota LandCruiser FJ60 with the diesel motor and it ran beautifully and was always reliable. I am sure you and your family will enjoy your FJ55 for many years to come. Enjoy!!

The "features" that the original owner added ACTUALLY make sense in this vehicle.
    1) they are from that era of time so they look like they could be OEM to someone who doesn't know cruisers...
    2) they are not just extra bells and whistles to distract you, they are informative and helpful.
So much respect to the original owner for maintaining this piece of art (landcruiser) to such a degree.....

Your video was love letter to this special vehicle. I’m so glad it ended up in your hands. I loved how proud and happily excited Steve was. I have many fond memories of road trips in the Jeep. You probably don’t remember me, but I was good friends with Becky.

Thank you very much! Such a great story and a fantastic truck. My dad bought an ’84 FJ60 in 1987 and I still have it now. I hurt his feelings when he brought it home because I told him I preferred the styling of the FJ55. He had it rust treated immediately so it, like yours, didn’t share the fate of 90% of these great old wagons. So fantastic that you kept at it and he granted your wish.
In the 1960s I used to walk to school past a house that had 2 1950s Jaguar 120s in a carport. I loved those cars but never approached the owners. Regrets? Yes.

Your story is actually slightly better than the truck itself. I can relate totally. While my old man shopped Toyota dealers in the seventies, I was captivated by the cruisers. The big front hubs and knobby tyres said adventure just like it did for you. You must be a very happy man! I love my cruiser too.

My 1975 fj55 has that exact same bumper and winch! Interesting coincidence. The original owner bought the car in Texas and drove it to Lake Tahoe where he put the bumper/winch on.

Toyota trucks were the back-bone of the out-back of Australia for many years and still are, I'm from NZ but remember when I lived there from 76to81 no one had any other make. Yes they are thirsty but at the time were the most powerful 4x4 I'm happy for you nice Xmas present Cheers NZ.

Congratulations! Your patience paid off! The PO/neighbor took phenomenal care of it. 99% of FJ55’s looked that good for about the first 5 years before the owners began to run them into the ground. You have a beautiful Cruiser to maintain now as a solid investment for the future.
