I have been next to the Kokugikan on an off week. I could not figure out how people get into this area to take pictures. Is it a special ticket, or do you just have to arrive extremely early? If possible, I want to do this when we return to Tokyo.
That’s right. It depends on if they are going in or coming out. On the way in they are concentrating on bouts. If they won and they’re on the way out, you have a better chance.

You have to have a regular ticket for the basho. There is a side door you can use to stand at the special viewing area.
