Oh how I remembered Rev. Carl J. Anderson, a man of God. He fed us the word of God. And to hear his prayers were so beautiful. That church was filled with God’s spirit always. Before entering the church I would always feel the Spirit. I truly enjoyed being a part of the congregation. My family attended the church while being stationed in San Francisco, CA. Rev. C. J. I joined St John's Missionary Baptist Church back in 1982 and also sung in a choir. I remember the special singing so sweet and I love me some Reverend CJ Anderson! I accidentally stumbled upon this UA-cam video I am so happy that I did! I miss him and I miss Singing in The Echoes of Zion choir. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories! Night service was my favorite service singing in the choir and singing is time to go to the Altar and pray!
The Gospel Call hour was a family event in our household. My friends and I used to play church and this was one if our favorite songs to sing. Happy times precious memories.

The anointed singing words of Reverend Carl Anderson. I grew up in Oakland from 1965 to 1972, when I joined the Marines. I heard him every Sunday morning and night on KDIA radio 1310 am...the BOSS OF THE BAY. My mama kept the radio on whenever gospel preaching and singing was on. I can STILL hear Carl Anderson say..."YES MY DEARS, GET ON UP OUT OF THAT BED AND GET ON DOWN TO THE OLD ST JOHN." "THE CROWD WILL BE BIG, SO COME EARLY SO YOU CAN GET A GOOD AND COMFORTABLE SEAT" As long as I can remember, he used those same words, and I KNOW I got some WITNESSES who heard the same thing. She truly LOVED church, gospel music, praying, singing and preaching. He was a living legend in Oakland, and was known the world over. Here's to Reverend Anderson, AND my mother for keeping the faith and showing me the way. Oakland is NOT the same without him or her....RIP BOTH OF YOU!!!
My sister Juanita Franklin has been a member of St. John since the 60s. I met Rev. Anderson during that time. My sister had a stroke, and is now blind in a group care home, but she will always be a member as long as she has breath.
when we were kids we would drive from san Francisco with my mom from Neighborhood Baptist church home and listen to st john Rev Carl J Anderson and I loved this song. wow great times

I remember Rev Carl Anderson and his Choir marching in sing "It's time.." with my Grandmother and Mother WOW takes me way way back. KDIA was soul music 60's music for Sunday. Boss soul. I wanted to visit but never made it their. So what happen to his sermon??
