- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today we are back and finally upgrading the rock mining combine with a dual refinery setup! This setup will allow us to mine rocks faster without having to worry about waiting for the refineries to keep up in converting rocks to blocks!

Some changes I would make on the combine would be:
- Larger front tires (as you said)
- Possible hatch at the top that opens via a button (similar to newer combines for the grain tank)
- White, Silver or Black stripe going along the side (similar to Case IH harvesters)
- Bring the cab slightly forward to eliminate that "flat" front
- Rear Lights
He could make a John Deere harvester but yea, I agree with everything you said. I think it would be difficult to have a grain tank in this game but yea. Also, for the interchangeable headers (front end) you could use it as a real combine and use it to farm a huge field
I said somethin similar
At least one light on each side too, but that's mainly how i build more than traditional harvesters, but i think they sometimes have lights on the side that face outward.
Not sure how the harvester would react, but it looks like you could add sawblades inbetween the drill bits and be able to cut timber with the drills folded.
The mechanism between the drill arms and the body is too small as well, IRL its a huge thick metal connection that gives the front some depth. Maybe adding more bulk and the mechanism to lift and unstick the pistons might make that look better
"Excuse me Sir? Sir? Sir? I'm shooting you..." Most Canadian shooting ever, love it...

Shooting at you not shooting you 😂😂 not to be mean
I’m not shooting AT you, I’m shooting TOO you!
The attachments for combines are called headers
as someone from the wonderful state of kentucky, i can tell you 3 thing you need to make it look more like a combine:
1) BIGGER WHEELS in the front
2) the cab should stick out more.
3) you need an auger. the pipe big pipe thing that hangs over-top, parallel to the combine.
a lot of farm equipment is know for having dual wheels for added traction(among other things)... just sayin...
That's also so that the tires don't have to handle as much weight
I feel like I have seen one out by me that has 3 wheels on each side in the front
u
flying munk89 i have a toy tractor like that
Part of the problem with multiple wheels is that the ground in scrap mechanic doesn't deform like real dirt, it's like driving uphill on a giant uneven smooth rock while trying to push into another rock to mine. So if you simply add wheels to the side of the existing wheels they don't increase your contact significantly with the ground unless its flat, and one wheel is fine on flat ground. Then trees and corn (especially corn get more and more obnoxious the wider your vehicle is.) To compensate for the immutable ground, you have to have a suspension system for each wheel which is going to further increase your footprint and lag.
My solution to this problem was to use piston arms that grab a rock formation and pull my vehicle towards it or also pulls loose rocks towards my vehicle. It's a little finicky as everything with scrap mechanic, but I don't have as much problem with sliding wheels.
Idea for multiplayer Monday
Piston only race: the body is made out of pistons and the wheels too. Seats, button, bearings and switch is only thing different you can use EDIT: you can use blocks but the body has 14 blocks then all of the other things are pistons EDIT2: you can use how many seats, button, switch and bearings
Submarine race in Scrap mechanic: race in survival because there's water
Manual boat race: you don't need seats only buttons
for the piston only car, you can't have one made of just pistons, seats, button/switch. You need to put a piston on a block, so you'd how to alternate blocks and pistons
guns11ng3r2000 gaming so how many blocks?
You would also most likely need bearing to reasonably do it
10 blocks?
I don't think u can build a sub
4:18 Sometimes in the hay field biome there are small shacks with big tanks. These tanks are bigger than the big wheels so if you want bigger wheels they are perfect.
how much friction does it have though?
i’d guess not much
probably like the saws and drills
Large tyre s friction 5
Barrel is only 4.
how much are the drills and saws (2?)

The SM devs should make something like an upgrading station to upgrade wheels and stuff with no UI. The slidiness is terrible.
it's a underlining issue of the games physic system for handling friction. if it was using actual friction physics we wouldn't be sliding around at all.
also the hills in this game are farrrrrrr too steep, hills don't form like that in real life. so not only do you have a flawed physics simulation but also just poorly designed map tiles that are too steep.
i mean have you seen some of the roads? some go up at a 150 degree angle.
And the way to upgrade them is with bee wax or somthin
Use multiple wheels for ultimate traction
@@outzymes3636 that's while moving they mean when you're still.
@@tropicalvikingcreations oh ermm
Yay
I’m back on time
Also To make it look better maybe make it asymmetric
where the cockpit is on the left
and you could have stairs on the right to get in
And also maybe have the cockpit jut out forward more
Yay is a nice word
Andy K indeed it is
Tailcoat Games, I agree with having the cabin jut out more, but most modern combines do have a centralized cab position
Hobbz45 yeah u can keep it centered I guess but yeah the jutting out would prob fix the flat nose can talked about
Also maybe make the cab wider if not to one side
For the slipping, I suggest making cacti and piston legs that extend or just push the cacti down because of the cactus's friction, I believe scrapman did something like this
That didn't really work if memory serves. It slowed the sliding but the games just doesn't have friction on the environment side
it was john who did it first
@@callumella8812 really? Sorry, I haven't seen that
@@kylevanwinkle2081 Worked pretty good for me.
I think it was him, it might have been someone smaller who he took inspiration from
I would maybe put lights around the entire combine so you can see everything around you easier at night.
I found it really satisfying to see you mine all those rocks. It's something most UA-camrs skip but you did it all the while talking! I liked the miner!
The fact that Kahn doesn’t freak out when he removes the seat on the combine XD.
I always forget and start panic screaming.
I love the rear steering personally, because most combines actually do steer in the back, similar to forklifts and some front loaders.
Some suggestions:
1. add lights to the rear and sides.
2. Add a set of pistons to lift the entire front assembly slightly, and possibly a set to clear the mechanism (kinda like a brush to clear between the pipes)
3. Move the cab slightly forward and to the right
4. Add a small hatch to the top so you can access the refineries if necessary
5. Add one of those pipe things that are on the top/side of irl combines, where the grain or whatever is pushed out into the trailer or whatever. Even if it's not actually functional in any way, it would help with the weird flat sides and stuff.
This looks amazing. I love it
I like how there's holes in the grain bin
Saw baldes for the cutting of trees, also effectively kill hay bots.
You did a absolutely great job KAN!!
Keep up the amazing builds kAN!
Yah
So glad you made another video for us. Keep it up.
Luv ur vids Kan. I also luv the idea of the combite
I love how kan uses one veichle that has different attachments for different uses
I like to use the I-beams to help break up flat surfaces, also the long I-beam piece has a grate in the middle which can be used for some cool back lighting. Nice big window in the front for first person, I also like to doll up my cabs by putting the engines, controllers, seats, switches, buttons, lights, etc. with prop piping and wiring. Overall awesome build, just needs a new day to work on some cosmetic stuff to pull it all together!
When you built the parking lot you should build I'm sort of collection system to pump out materials from the combine and trailers then I can go into a storage area.
You could probably put a vertical shield to help prevent rocks from getting caught on top of the pipes behind the drills. You should also put some blocks that limit how far the arms can bend downward, so that they are less likely to fold under.
Also, if you are going to fight farmbots with that thing, you should definitely invest in some stronger materials. It would be a shame if a farmbot managed to break the refineries because of a lack of armour.
For the front you could cut out a ‘chute’. In real combines the front does have an opening. Also you could turn the attachment into a stick rake with a buffer on top of the drills to prevent rocks from getting caught up
You could use 8-12 cacti offset with bearings and controllers for wheels with good traction. It would also come with the added benefit of allowing you to have the wheel as large as you need it to be.
Looks awesome
I think the combine is DOPE!
I've been waiting for this video!
it looks fine and i live in the country near a bit of them so good job
I just started playing scrap mechanic..And DANG u make it look way easier then it is
The combine is so good!!!!
That video was amazing
i love the design. i'm not fussed about bodywork for my vehicles, most of them are open or have blades around the sides.
i'd love to see a 'How to' video of the front drill attachment, like you did with the motorbike ,which i still use :).
keep up the great work, kAN
nice job Kan
And they have front-wheel steering and back wheels pivot
Oooo, to fix the gaps in the front pipe pieces, there are narrow ramp pieces on the warehouse that would make it look even more like a combine. Might look sweet.
You need a storage tank, the simplest one would be to cut out some of the concrete above the refineries and tilt it upwards at an angle, you should also maybe make the combine wider on the sides by extending the sides but shape it to look like chicken wings so that it's like a combine. You could also make these "wings" fold upwards so u can see inside. Finally you should make what's known as an auger with pipes which is basicly the tube that stickes out and hangs out the back a mile. To really help things you should make the combine slightly longer which would also make room for collectors for collecting component kits and circuit boards from bots. Finally you could try making tracks which would like slightly better than the wheels.(btw I live on a farm that raises animals in ireland so I've never seen a combine anywhere apart from shows but I watch farming simulator the whole time so I know what they look like)
Idea for speeding up oil gathering: use bubble plastic to make a boat and thrusters to control it and have stacked pistons to push you up and down to submerge or raise a kind of tethered vessel in the end you should end up with a "mothership" boat and a submarine which can basically help you move faster through the water
I really like it 👍🏽
I think it looks great. But u don’t have a auger so it looks like a big cube. I like the Case IH red too!
Awesome video as always kAN!
I have a similar miner and found a 6-wheel configuration made a massive improvement to handling
- Front wheels steering only
- Middle pair drive only
- Rear wheels steering and drive
- Wood 3 for weight reduction, it looks really good painted
For your base wall, add a strip of concrete 2 to the outside and tote/hay bots wont be able to damage it at all, they don't even try.
I don't use any other defenses and just let the bots run off on their own eventually when farming and never had an issue with it.
wood 3 and metal 2 also work, anything with 6+ durability cant be broken by anything but big reds, but a single large gas canister will kill them
Been waiting all day
Nice one works reasonably good. The tires are a pain in the a.. Their friction have nothing to do with friction of tires in reality it is always like driving on ice. It doesn't matter what terrain. Gras, concrete, asphalt, dirt it just doesn't make a difference.
Fun fact: The scrap tires have 7 friction instead of the 6 of the normal tires.
Could be used to hold a build a little more still 🤔
Weaponizing farm equipment.... where have I heard that before....
I think it looks pretty cool.
wouldyes, i'd say cactus wheels is your best bet
also, can't you connect multiple gas tanks like the chests so you can load more fuel?
Hi Kan, A couple sugestions....you can lay your refiners on their backs with chest on top. Also lay your gas tank on its side so the gauge is pointing up you can look in your cab while driving and see your gas level. Double up your tires I usally put my main pipe going down with a tee and put wheels on both sides. Also you can put 4 silo pieces together you find on the roof of Warehouses with metal between them so you can center your axle. Great fiction on those homemade wheels just do your front wheels looks really cool and lowers your center of gravity. Very stable.
I'd say switch out the sides for mesh, make more space for the wheels, and add guard posts to the sweeper bar.
The lasso technique is really good at keeping your vehicle from sliding around.
My only advice to make the combine look better is to have the cab jut out a bit more, bigger front wheels, as you said, and also maybe have a sort of funnel at the top. It won't serve any purpose, but when combines are harvesting, they have fold out panels on the top so they can hold more grain. Other than that, just have a nice day😊
It would be great if they added an obtainable version of the tube at the traders station to suck up parts, plants, and small builds using just air
I already love it just based on the thumbnail
Lots of mondern combines have a sestem that’s responsible for the ejection of chaff, the stem part of wheat, it you put two sawblases on the back you could 1, cut down the big trees that are in you way
2 prevent tote bots and hay bots from destroying you chest,
Also some combines have wings or panels that open up for repairs, you could ues this as a self righting mechanism, thanks for being a great entertainer
Theres a big yellow combine harvester that drives by my house all the time all I can see that ur missing is the hay chute and its colossal wheels which obviously isn't needed in this game, nice work kan!
It is really cool it looks funny
Just to add some aesthetics you could add a discharge pipe to the side of your combine. Combines don't typically store harvested crops on board and have a long pipe that swings out from the side into a trailer... This would only be for looks, but it would help the boxy look a bit.
A little tip you can hold the right mouse butten to pick up staff instead off kicking ,
I like it :)
Hey kon I’m glad I discovered your UA-cam channel where I started playing scrap mechanic survival you gave me some tips ideas that would really like and also I have a couple ideas for you as well number one you can actually vacuum up crops and play some down with the vacuum it is possible so you could just place a block to get off the plates other stuff
I have soooo many ideas for builds in scrapmechanic but can't play because I can't afford it. Iove your vids!
I only have a couple hundred hours invested so far, but with a similar setup, I found that the refineries can still work, regardless of heir orientation to the ground and collectors. I put mine on the back end, facing upward to lower the center of gravity. Also, upgraded suspension works wonders for that whole flipping over thing :)
truly epic
I love Your Videos KAN
You can make the auger arm on it, just for looks and for flipping yourself from whatever side you most commonly tip over in
Add a output pipe on the left side towards the top. Normal Combines use them to auger grain and corn into a wagon, it can essentially be aesthetic unless you can think of a use, but it will break up the blockiness.
For your raise/lower mechanism, you could use two buttons and two lv1 controllers on loop to raise/lower it a few degrees at a time instead of having a fixed up/down position.
@kAn, u can use pistons and sensors to transmit button presses between Attachment Tool Grids like ur drill. then u dont need to wire something ;) only the weld
That front flat area of your combine is usually open because that is where the cut crop is pushed through to process
I'd try widening the front wheel base by about 5 blocks on either side, then adding a third axle in the back. That should prevent tilting over. Also you could fit a second line of drills on top of the block the pistons connect too. This would tilt forward and catch those bothersome bits that ride up.
You should get some more light yellow lights in your base. It definitely works well, but it feels very cold.
You should do a header trailer that you pull behind your combine so you can switch your heads in the field
I love it😃
It's amazing
two weeks into the game, so still learning some stuff. I like your drill thing. Less concerned about how it looks. I'm going to build something similar, and going to try using drills for wheels, as I too am tired of slipping all over the place.
You know it's gonna be a good day when Kan uploads a Scrap Mechanic Survival video
This game's weight to wheel to terrain physics are bonkers. It feels like driving on ice constantly.
kAN really loves his multi attachment vehicles.
I love this update to scrap mechanic
Like someone else said, bring the cockpit forward slightly, but also 2 other things-
1. The top of the cockpit is usually _lower_ than the top of the main body, so maybe you could lower it AND bring it forward.
2. The main body section, mainly around the front wheels, goes too far forward here. On real ones, the main body of the combine is usually entirely behind the center of the front wheels, and then the cockpit just sits on the front of the main body, rather than being integrated into the main body as it appears here.
Hope this helps
Haha Great Video!
If you want the front of the combine to look not as flat as it is you can add a vacuum like rectangle that wraps around the point the drill connects to the combine.
You -could- try to use strange wheels such as the Magnetic Coils from the top of the Warehouses, or use the radar dishes from there.
kAN, as a few people have already stated, I think the fix to your "flat front" of the combine is to make the cab extend and hang over the drill head a little. I know it'll conflict with them being in the transport position, but a lot of combines have the cab jutted out over the header attaching point so it's a kind of instant reaction kind of thing. You turn when you feel you would need to; not try to sit and calculate or eyeball when it seems correct. It might be helpful to do both directions, IE bring the cab out forward a little and recess the attaching point of the drill heads to the combine back into the vehicle a little. Just an observation and suggestion.
It might be good to have a side attachment with a blade that starts can be turned vertical or horizontal to make for easy tree clearing while mining.
yay finally the factory we have not been here in such along time man I missed this thing 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Scrapman: WEDGES MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER.
kAN: PIPES PIPES MORE PIPES
finally you painted the Berings !
Put drills on the bottom of the combine facing down so you can drive over loose rocks. And yeah, cactus wheels... Its just crazy slippery.
if you don't like the flat colors of the concrete, you could replace sections with brick or different metal blocks, just for a different texture
I made my own thing with this combine with sawblades and it works REALY good just cutting the tree down then go to the side of the tree so you got the tree infront of you then wreck the tree in 2 sec :)
This trick with lift checking Underground blown my mind
Combine suggestions:
Materials: to combat the top heaviness of it, use metal 1 for the upper half to 2/3rds, maybe sheet metal, but I don't like it's texture, same goes for rusted metal. If the texture really does not matter, use wood 1 instead. Also mount your gas tank lower, they are kind of heavy as well.
Not sure bigger wheels will help all that much, the stuff available in the warehouse actually has very poor traction/friction so they slide worse than the current ones, they are bigger though. I've also tested the grip/friction of other materials in creative, and the standard wheel actually has better traction than making your own.
Edit: Watching you drive that, you MIGHT want to widen your wheel base. And While your controller can spin the drill fast enough to break rocks, but the faster you spin the drill, the faster the rocks break. Probably the main reason I started using electric engines for my tool power. It has more torque than a gas engine. If you are going to keep using the controller, you can actually remove the suspensions as they should be there to prevent the drills from getting stuck, which controllers have enough torque on their own to prevent.
This is all my opinion
Edit: good lord your aim.
I added pistons on the front wheels to cure jams. It helps on those smaller hills as well if you dont have much ground clearance.
I hope that Kan sees this, but he's incredibly creative! And that's why I subbed.
i think it looks good
I’m finally on time for commenting on your new vid!
I’m so glad I got the notification this time! because UA-cam bugs out and I don’t get the notifications some times😥
AshBeast Gaming mine just have a lot of notification because I always subscribe lol
I would suggest having a hidden roller to deal with the friction it works well for me
