    Shrimp don't only molt when they have enough calcium and other nutrients to survive/thrive, they can also prematurely molt due to stress.

    LPT for adding water to a new tank. Put a square of bubble wrap on the substrate and gently pour water onto it first. Once the bubble wrap starts floating like 3-4 inches off the substrate you can just dump massive amounts of water into the middle and it flexes and absorbs all the energy. It's legit game changing. Can fill a 20g with a bucket in like 4 minutes start to finish including bucket refills

    I turned an old hanging lamp into a biosphere although I’m not sure that’s completely technical since it had one little tiny hole, but I could stick a toothpick with food on it in, but it lasted the whole two years that my fish lived, which is the usual life I’ve got these 2 to 3 years

    Hey Chris I’m new to the hobby and I’m tryna setup a tank and I was wondering if I could diffuse normal air into a co2 diffuser and not have any major problems and side effects or do I need to strictly use co2.
    I’m on a budget. Love from India 😊
    If I can use normal air for how long do I have to keep it on per day..
    We have good air quality it’s not very polluted and I will put a sponge or filter at the pump
    If I pump normal air...

    I don't know if I can get through this.😢 I just found one of my shrimp with Ellobiop... (Can never remember the proper spelling) that green lichen like growth on the belly. There's supposedly treatments, but it's like 80+% fatal just to treat. Freaking LFS being busy and not checking their stock when they get them in! Freaking dummy me, thinking I had done enough research!! It may crash my whole shrimp tank because Lil dude was in w them a while before the growth stood out enough to see. 😭😭😭
    Edit; actually watching this I really have to thank you Chris. I don't you'll see this tho😅. But you've given me inspiration to make a jar home and let my infected shrimp live out his life alone. Not enclosed, I'll do feedings so I can monitor. I will possibly try the hydrogen peroxide treatment for shrimper first, but maybe just let him live out whatever's left in peace in a jar like yours without treating and focus on observing the rest of my colony to make sure they're not catching this horrible parasite/ algae/ ???. I can't find a ton of research to even really know what it is. And some of the research says it's not even Ellobiopsea (?) But another organism because Ello... Mostly presents in marine shrimp. So tldr; thanks Chris, I thought this would be depressing because everyone said euthanize shrimper, but I think I'll just let him live in a tiny home and then compost all the substrate/ plants. 💙🙏💙✌️

    You know shrimp are social. Maybe instead of putting one lonely depressed shrimp in there, try and go for 2, male female and see if the closed ecosphere actually works, they will reproduce and if the babies survive the experiment truly works.

    • @plejade4125
      @plejade4125 Рік тому

      but why do you want to put them in a jar again instead of just using a small tank and keep them in a group, specially if you already know shrimp are social? to prove what? they will have sex? of course they will. there was an ecospere before with a shrimp it died really fast. must have proven that these ecospheres are not good for shrimp. equal to fishbowls for goldfish.

      @@pixazelz I really don't get it why people say that. I know US standards in taking care of animals is really low (or cruel) and you might think that it's okay because where you live there are some low standards too, or maybe because Chris is doing it it must be okay, or something like that. I assume it's an educational thing that you believe this is okay, when it's clearly not, shimp have needs too specially beeing in a group. these days I can pay my rent from selling shrimp and I'm not even breeding them professionally, I do just take good care and they reproduce so much, so I guess I'm doing the right thing because I researched a lot. But you know it's like try to confess a fish abuser that he/she is abusing fish, noone want's to hear that, and I'm fine with that. but just don't put shrimp in there please.

      @pixazelz Рік тому

      @@plejade4125 first of all , I dont live in the us you are just soooo assuming !!! (And this is wrong). but an ecosysphere big enough could support shrimps . Compared to a betta , the shrimp doesn't care about a bowl defforming their vision , or the space they are in. The ecosphere is big enough to sustain them without disturbing the water parameters and they clearly feel safe in There ... There is so Much differences between a shrimp and a fish . The shrimp doesn't care where IT is as long as the parameters are good , a food sources , plants , hiding spots , etc . They would breed like crazy in There too... I've kept shrimps. They dont get depressed and distressed like fishes because their need for space is different! and a 2.5 gallons can sustain a breeding colonie .
