  • Captain Ross sits down with Casey Powell to talk about how he finds the best night fishing locations from shore. We go over his tips and tricks with lures, cadence, gear, and more. There are tremendous shore fishing opportunities across the Midwest and this is a great walleye fishing opportunity that anybody can enjoy without a lot of equipment.
Capt. Ross Robertson has made his complete living chasing walleye as a full time professional angler for more than 20 years. Through the years he has worn many hats including time as a fishing guide, boat salesman, TV host, outdoor writer, product designer, tournament fisherman, speaker, radio host and podcaster to name a few.
Ross fishes ice-out to ice-up on the Great Lakes. He spends the majority of the year walleye fishing on Lake Erie’s Western and Central basins.

Spring shore fishing is huge from Maumee Bay east to the Pennsylvania border. You mentioned the Rock Hoppers you should know this.

I like Bandits if I'm throwing jerk baits. I use the B-Rotans for shallower spots.

This was a great listen i tell people all the time when you think your going slow enough slow it down more. Im uniquely qualified at the shore fishing game in michigan. I live directly on the St. Clair river and when were getting those migrating walleye from april till about now i can catch a limit every day from my yard. Most of the fish are already spawned And we believe were getting alot of erie fish migrating. Early in the spring body baits but most of the game is jigs and plastics. When the waters dirty they bite all day. I hit he piers of oscoda, tawas, au gres, sanilac, lexington in the fal for the big fish in the fall. The best part is we get browns, cohos, atlantics and steelhead hitting all these baits in fall. I agree with so much of this.(turn your headlamp off) I need to drive down and try luna pier or something on erie and try it out. Only fished erie in the boat. Catch alot of fish in the detroit river from shore too.

Shore fishing for eyes is the way to go. Much cheaper than a boat.
