Considering the amount of you dossers who habitually did and still do refer to the Irish as thick ,and historically were the authors of many of the Irish and French stereotypes … the Brits aren’t exactly in a position to be kicking up a fuss and crying of bigotry when the shoe is on the other end . No ways anyone is averaging over 50kmph clean on a TT longer than 10k not now not ever.

Really great video. I’m sure the truth is somewhere between his story and yours. I believe Millar was clean on Garmin and Vaughters is against doping but I’m not sure I believe Millar about being anti drugs before he “had” to take them. He does come across as very self centred and not at all down to earth as a person. He tries so hard to be a debonair chap and it all comes across incredible fake.
I'm personally anti-smoking as such have never smoked once in my entire life. Im also against violence to women hence have never engaged in violence to women as such I find it hard to believe anyone including Vaughters is against doping once they have been caught or ceased doing it. They doped because it helped their career at the time and I believe they became anti doping spokesmen for exactly the same reason. No morality exists for people so driven for success that they are prepared to endanger their health, cheat and break the rules. Both Millar and Vaughters are cut from the same cloth. Any cyclist against doping could have taken the same stance as Scott Mercier if they were against doping but doing so would have ended their careers, same as it did Scott's. I believe Millar was on the juice for much of his career.
I don’t know if he’s egotistical, but you could call him typically British or Scottish. I mention this because he himself seems to make a lot of of his putative Scottishness.

Lastly, stereotypes exist because there’s often an element of truth to them . Wow. You do realise he said “British” , right? You even quoted him. Scotland is part of Britain, an integral part in fact. Ergo, Scots are BRITISH . What a fucking idiotic statement
Everyone doping is not a level playing field. There are natural differences in people's haematocrit levels which is one of the key things doping agencies monitor because the higher the percentage of red cells in your blood, the more oxygen you can get to your muscles. Back in the 90s, EPO was the drug of choice because it boosted red blood cell production. That's where the performance gains come from. You haematocrit level had to be below 50% with most people's falling between 38.3 to 48.6%. If a rider's natural level was only 38%, they could dope much more than a rider whose natural level was in the high 40s. That 10% difference equates to a much bigger performance gap on the road. The testing has become much more scientific these days, and drugs like EPO now have signature molecules in them which makes them easy to detect. Riders have biological passports now too through which all their blood and hormone levels are monitored over time to detect anomalies. Riders have been banned using this without ever having tested positive for anything. It's hard to get away with it these days, and the sport is much cleaner.

wait youre telling me theres another channel like "cycling highlights" with another sarcastic man from the united kingdom doing interesting and pithy recaps of the dopers of cycling? marry me
The major doping stories are not being told:
the president of the uci pat mcquaid hein verbruggen
The aso owners of the tour
The rcs owners of the giro
Coni
The owners of the vuelta
The sports minister of Spain
The prior US Atty in DC
"luigi ceccini was the creator of monters". Hahahahahahahah. Man, you are very funny!
Yes that’s correct he must be one of the biggest hypocrites ever. I guy who probably would have been only average without drugs, yet he claimed to be an anti-drug crusader and totally clean after he was caught. Believe that nonsense if your will.
where does this channel get all this info?
it might seem a dump question but what does EPO do to your hair?
i looked can't find anything
I know they used to go blonde to cover it but what did it actually do…? I can’t find anything either.
Don’t be silly, he narrator was joking .
Dying hair that colour was the fashion between the 1990s to mid 2000s . Fashion statement no more
It makes your hair stupid 😂
Funny thing about Millar , he's a Commentator. What a joke . It should be called Tour De Farce .
Any doped cyclist that beats a doped Ulrich and Armstrong, is a fucking hero.
I don't agree that Jan lost the tour because of the downpour, but his crash definitely crushed all hope.
In 2001 I sent from Italy to d Millar in England a package to coordinate on a anti Doping campaign
He refused To open the envelope and sent it back to me , unopened
Later he tried to position himself as an anti doping champion
It's almost like we demand doped performances then cry when we get what we want. PEDs should be legal so we can all be truthful with ourselves.
Classic. I never heard this on GCN 😂😂
Is there any gen info, on how much doling exists now?
Is it now about the races and stuff or how he doped?
any rats in the current pro peloton?
Haha. Cant you see those supermans? 😃😃
if it looks like a rat, rides like rat and wins all it's races with supernatural ease then it's probably a rat.
@@dansprague2 we used to call Froome the hamster because his crazy fast cadence when attacking on steep climbs looked like a hamster on it's exercise wheel.

No mention of being cheated out of a previous World TT championship, by Ullrich ( a doper ) and Bodrogi, when Millar was riding clean.
hard to know when he was racing clean, to be fair
Millar was not clean.
@@mapexplorer7321 Ullrich was certainly not.
Nice videos. So much speculation put to rest. Cyclist knew many riders were juiced . They all denied it
There is the proof that EPO turns one’s
hair blond.
Whoops sent in 2011, not 2001
If everyone else was doping you kinda have no choice
Guess what he beat everyone else who was doped up too.
Most pro cyclists dope. Pro cycling is one of the dirtiest sports.
It is , but, if you thinking soccer /football, basketball , horse racing and rugby are squeaking clean , then, you are very naive . Where’s there money, there are cheats .
Track and field have a long history of doping too
It's hard to state if cycling is a dirtiest sport, or making more effort to catch cheats than other sports.
Do Paola Pezzo, please.
This is factually incorrect as Millar didn’t start taking EPO until after the 2001 Tour de France, not from 2000 onwards
Sources please?
@@kevinsynott4380 Millar’s book Racing through the Dark. After he flopped in the 2001 Vuelta, he got sent to stay with Massimiliano Lelli (who he doesn’t actually name) to learn how to use EPO. He was under pressure from the team as he was Cofidis star rider and they relied on him to get results. I think in a different era, he could have been a Tour winner
@@simonworsley8631 Must be true then...lol
@@schwantz037 why would he lie in his own book. He had nothing to gain from that. He was already outside the statute of limitations when it was published
@@simonworsley8631 you are ignoring defamation suits , even if there was little substance rich people will initiate them, knowing full well that a guy like Millar wouldn’t have the financial resources to defend himself , not to mention exposing himself further with discoveries etc . The time for suing starts when the book is published .
You are also ignoring potential lucrative post career earnings in the media and endorsements for bike clothing and equipment .
Then you got the good auld fashioned prospect that his dealers have heavy gangs that would know where to find him and magically have an accident on the bike in the middle of no where .
Ask yourself why none of them ever come clean about the who, what and how they doped and who helped. Financial loss is nothing compared to a real threat to one’s life . Those Italian gangs don’t mess around
I am a cycling fan and I'm afraid from time to time every pro will more than likely have dopped at some point including your glorious Irish riders u yourself said u don't go from 0 to grand tour winner or like some 0 to tour de France the giro and the world's 😉😂
True , but Roche did come third in the 1985 TDF and won multiple key 7 day races in Switzerland and a Paris Nice as a neo pro . He had also scored a bronze in the worlds earlier than that (and several top 10s) and multiple Key junior /U23 / amateur races around Europe.
(yes, huge difference to grand tours) .
While he was inconsistent before and after 1987, least he didn’t come out of nowhere like Froome, Wiggins, Armstrong , Landis or even Gerraint Thomas (mountain goat and contender GC extraordinaire)
Love the whataboutry ; you taking issue with one of your home boys so you then throw out a rider from the author’s country , despite the fact the he acknowledged it
I don’t know about Wiggins coming out of nowhere. He finished 3rd in the 2009 TDF and was a contender for race wins in the 3-4 years leading up to his TDF victory in 2012. Same with Froome.
So, using EPO changes your hair color so David dyed his hair?
drugs can be identified via a hair sample, so hair dye is hydrogen peroxide is a nasty chemical and might well denature the chemicals and render the tests useless.
This is complete and utter nonsense. Hair dye would have absolutely no impact on a hair sample.
That’s some mental gymnastics, he implied no such thing. He was being tongue in cheek. He actually joking said that he dyed his hair to making using EPO. He did not suggest that EPO changed hair colour ffs
Jesus , stop being so triggered and think before criticising .
“Typical British Ego-maniacal Character”. That’s a bit of a sweeping generalisation isn’t it? 70million people all that same. It’s like saying all ‘Irish are a bit thick’. Or ‘the French are lazy’. It’s lazy thinking at best, bigoted at worst. Other than that, good vid though.
Considering the amount of you dossers who habitually did and still do refer to the Irish as thick ,and historically were the authors of many of the Irish and French stereotypes … the Brits aren’t exactly in a position to be kicking up a fuss and crying of bigotry when the shoe is on the other end .
Now that that is exactly what you were thinking about the video commentator when you heard his audacity to make a tongue in cheek comment like that
Now now, he said British… Britain includes the Scots and Welsh too . They are equally included . Funny how you yourself single out the English . So , Scot or Welsh, which are ya ?
As a brit who no longer lives in the UK, I would agree with his assessment of the British, especially the ones I meet who are on holiday.
No bigger misnomer that 'Cycling stories' - how about 'Doping stories' instead, or even 'I'm the only only person on Earth who's realised cyclists dope'?
Only talk about cycling. For now.
He was an athlete of note if he was doping hard core he wouldve been the best TT rider ever in my opinion. He simply was not doing what Armstrong was doing.
But yea he was irritating with his im mr Clean and now instead of winning i come 3rd like that is still clean riding.
No ways anyone is averaging over 50kmph clean on a TT longer than 10k not now not ever.
He was simply doing exactly the same as what Lance Armstrong was doing, taking EPO. Cheat but somehow conned people like you.
.....??? You still pretending Lance is the bogeyman?
No one was doping at the scale and precision that cancer boy (with fuck all background at elite European /world level prior to it including juniors ) did it , hence a major reason why he was made an example of (which was worthless as he was retired and everyone within the community accept that he was a multiple TDF winner)
Unless one accepts that pro cycling is just a competition between the best doped, it becomes a failed sport.
is this the guy that transitioned?
edit: nope, was thinking of a different Millar
They all did, they all did.
You'll believe anything then! :-D Sucker.
David Miller unfortunately had that English egotistical attitude. His hypocrisy was astounding. He was a talented doper though.
I don’t know if he’s egotistical, but you could call him typically British or Scottish. I mention this because he himself seems to make a lot of of his putative Scottishness.
1.09 Tom Simpson 1962
‘Typical British egomaniac character’ Stereotype at best - casually racist in may I suggest typically Irish bigoted way. I’m sure you’re aware he’s Scottish - not English. Try not to be so smug and try not to be such a bigot.
You might what to re-educate yourself on what constitutes “British” and Britain before you offer any suggestions .ffs some mothers do ‘ave them .
Last I checked, Scotland is an integral part of Britain and thus British !! (And shall remain so for the foreseeable future because as we say in 2014, there is nothing under that kilt ) You might want to look at the flag of the U.K. of GB and NI . Go back to school 🙄!
Brits aren’t a race either , so where are you getting the racism ? and even if it existed, where’s the sense of superiority based on their nationality etc ? Get a bloody dictionary and stop embarrassing yourself .
Rather rich for many British person to be crying about being subjected to bigotry or “racism” lol . Ye are world champions in it .
Lastly, stereotypes exist because there’s often an element of truth to them . DM always came across as a condescending sanctimonious tosser who thought he was better than others and certainly wasn’t that Scottish even if he had roots there .
Like I said, go back to school
Wow. You do realise he said “British” , right? You even quoted him. Scotland is part of Britain, an integral part in fact. Ergo, Scots are BRITISH .
What a fucking idiotic statement
Is it cheating if everyone is doing it ?
Typical British ego maniacal character? Somebody has a chip on their shoulder. 🤔
and in the first seconds he call him Scotish
@@tommaguzzi1723 eh, Scotland is in Britain, right?

What a doped
Like a serial killer who transforms himself into a priest who comforts those people about to receive their last rites. Millar has to be the most insincere hypocrite to ever be caught doping in sport. A serial cheat who now claims the moral high-ground. Abhorrent.
I always laugh when people look back and single out a rider for doping................................. who rode at that time that was not on the hot sauce ?????????? who never had a failed test hushed up ????????????????????[ in spain ]

What a great rider Millar was total professional those were the days!
A doper
Um. Did you watch the video? Or follow cycling at all? Dirty cheat and hypocrit is the story here.
Totally inaccurate, Millar never tested positive at the 2003 world's, his cheating confession was extracted in custody. Also the tarring of Boardman is really bad at the start, probably the only clean successful cyclist from the 90s thanks to superior aerodynamics. Do a video on how much he was cheated out of.
If you could leave out the personal insults and the mild stereo typical racist remarks, it would be a bit more professional!
He is unlikely getting paid for this video. Did you pay to view it ? I didn’t and I doubt you are too , so why would he need to be “professional” ?
He is clearly trying to be funny and satirical .
Been loving these vids but to say Dave millar is more annoying than Lance Armstrong is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard ( although I have to say his commentary raving about vingegaard was a bit nauseating )
He thinks he’s mint , he’s a dope
Cycling itt legend
You spelt bell end wrong
Stopped watching, clearly the narrator has an agenda in this one. Don't recall him calling Ullrich a rat in that video? ...and with the typical Irish bitter, inferiority complex....
i am waiting for a Stephen Roche one now
What ? Contempt for dopers ? Well, I never .
He referred to Ullrich as a “legend” in a clearly sarcastic manner . Would you have stopped watching and protest if he called him a kraut or Germanys favourite laboratory experiment ?
Least Ullrich kept his head down and went away and his country disowned him . Woes me , everyone is to blame but myself Millar tried to make people forget his deeds and claim to be reborn but it actuslly offer full and Frank disclosure of his last
He sarcastically called him a “legend” actually! You knew that but you pretended to ignore it
Inferiority complex ? You understand what that means ?
It is evident that you have serious issues with the Irish when you felt the need to bring up his nationality . No wonder much of the world has little time for ye . If he was French or German , you’d probably be commenting about some war and claim its “banter”
So your claiming that no one and especially the Irish can’t not ever mock, deride criticise the British ? Typical arrogant nonsense , there’d be no surprise where you are from .
Millar undeniably doped ? There’s no dispute about it . Instead of staying out of sight he profited from it by trying to rebrand himself as an evangelical anti doper crusader who actually has very little evidence of backing that up
Millar gets the ire of thousands of cycling fans ALL OVER THE WORLD because of the utter buckshot he spouts. Read his book, it’s all “woes me” and everyone is to blame but not my self really - while still claiming that he accepts full personal responsibility .
Then you got him parading around like a white knight as some anti doping crusader , yet, he disclosed sweet fa on who sourced him the fear and how.
One doesn’t have to be Irish to point that out .
But nah, instead of that, you are in denial and so keen on protecting one of your boys , you come across with the usual resentful Anti Irish waffle that you Brits like to spew when Paddy has the shoe on the other end
@@tommaguzzi1723 so am I .
Roche might even threaten to sue like he pondered aloud about doing with David Walsh - and act all butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth (check out the cringe inducing UA-cam interview of Roche n Walsh on Irish tv circa 2009ish - awful stuff from Roche )
Nevertheless , one small thing Roche had on your British GC and time trial heros is that he did produce a Junior and U23 , amateur and neo pro record that suggested that success in grand tours and world championships wasn’t beyond him with previous GT podium place and 7 day event wins .
Ya, all within the same year is a bit ….. dodge

What has he done ?
Specifically Disclosed the people who aided him and covered up ? No
Gave precise detail as to how it was done and how they cheated the testing protocol ? Not really (to be fair , he has offered to help in the latter but UCI told him to jog on )
Profited from it by being able to continue to ride , take endorsements and clothing business , sell books and offer public speaking courses and continue to work in the media off the back of being a pro cyclists ? Yes
You confidently ignored that he was one step away from jail before he gave just enough information and forget that as a young man with little else to fall back on financially (his own words) he had to redeem himself and stay in the sport at some capacity .
Would he have said anything if he didn’t get caught red handed ? God forbid that he showed some regret and remorse (I accept he is genuine ) , doesn’t mean that he should be herald as some white knight for doing so
