Brent, I'm so happy that you enjoyed Nicaragua: it literally is one of those countries that you can just buy a plane ticket for, reserve a couple of nights at a hotel in the capital and plan your adventure from there. That's what we did: we talked to fellow tourists/expats that we met along the way in Nicaragua and planned our itinerary based on that. Now we're looking for real estate.

There are VERY few places where you can have a boat. IT's not a legal thing, it's a surf thing. Marinas are super rare. Lots of places, Poneloya for example, have places where the local fisherman put in boats. So can you do that? Sure. But it's not relaxing. It's a tough fight against surf at an estuary. Not like a dock or marina. I know of one marina up north in El Viejo. That's like... it. I'm sure there are one or two more. But you are talking something crazy rare here. Fishing, yes. But what I think you are picturing, not really.
