I am a self-proclaimed impatient person, and coloring literally "forced" patience into me (at my ripe old age, no less). I have learned so much in the last six years through this hobby, and am grateful to the dedication of coloring-UA-camrs. Thank you for sharing.
Emily, I am just finding your videos, and I actually printed some swatch charts this morning. Thank you thank you thank you! That is so kind of you to make those available to any and everyone, and your videos are thorough and informative!
I watch your videos from the sideline but had to comment to let you know that I really enjoy the tutorial videos and your live videos as well. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
I started out with Prrimsa color, Polychromos and Inktense. I knew nothin about what I had. I used all three when I colored. I have to say that Polychromos is high on my list of favorites. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing! I'm a newbie to polys and I am 12 pencils away from completing my set! I started with Prismas so I'm learning every time I use my polychromos. This video was quite useful.
Thanks so much Emily, love this series, I have PolyChromos, Prisma's have a long delivery time where I live (Spain), I really like the Poly's, think I will have to get a blender, they really do smooth things out!
Going from FC to PC I had the issue of why are my lots of layers not making this color darker because I wasn't used to pressing hard. Very different behaviors between the two sets!
!violet 😂 I loved this one. I had this page open just yesterday and decided I wasn’t ready. Going to pull out some prismas and try to color along with the blends bc this turned out beautiful. Thank you for explaining the process and basics!!!
Another awesome video Emily! Thank you so much for sharing the color combos! I’m new to the pencils but definitely love how vibrant they are! I can’t wait to see what you do next!
This week I bought my first set of 60 polychromos. I like them but I'm not so impressed I thought I would be. For me they are like my Castle Arts or Arteza. Currently I try to figure out what makes them better so your tips are very welcome.
@@EmilyIllustrator The reason why I finally bought them is that they are open stock and easier to buy in germany. Some of my budget pencils are getting shorter and shorter and I don't want to buy a new set just for a few pencils.
If you try to use them like prismas, you may find yourself frustrated with the results. I mean, for me, I was and I stepped away from polys for a long time.
Thanks for doing this video. As just purchased a 36 set of Faber Polychromos. What's a good pencil sharpener to use with them? Thanks again for this. Love them so far. 🖤
I’ve learned coloring with polychromos and I bought prisma’s a few years later. I love them both. It depends on the page which pencil I use. I’m happy I learned coloring with poly’s. It’s easier I think as the other way around. ☺️

Girl I'm loving these videos! I love the history and background you give in these. Like I had no idea about some of these nifty facts.
Aw thanks! I’m having fun too! 🥰
This is super helpful to color along with you!! I enjoyed the facts about the company and pencils too.
I'm really loving this series, I adore my polychromos pencils and I loved hearing the history and all the facts! thanks 😊
Thank you Lucy! I appreciate it!
Very cute books.
I've had these pencils for over 20yrs. Love them.
I love them too!

I mix Polychromos and Prismacolor pencils all the time and haven't had any issues getting them to blend with each other.
I’ve only watched a couple of your Let’s Talk videos (so far!) and I’ve learned A LOT!! Thank you so much! X
I’m so glad! 🥰🥰
I'm getting a full set of prismacolor and polochromos. Do they work good together?
Going from FC to PC I had the issue of why are my lots of layers not making this color darker because I wasn't used to pressing hard. Very different behaviors between the two sets!

@@EmilyIllustrator I’d love one like this with prisma basics. I don’t think I’m doin so good with this new fancy set 😳😬
@@ams5460 Haha, we can totally do a Prisma one!
Another awesome video Emily! Thank you so much for sharing the color combos! I’m new to the pencils but definitely love how vibrant they are! I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Thank you Charlotte!
lol Emily. I thought I was the only one who thought of a luminance pencil to blend the polychromos! Guess not :( Thanks for some of the new info!
Oh yeah! I love using my lumi blender! 🥰
How can I download some of your swatch charts without becoming a member? Colorfully Optimistic sent me to you? Thank you Jamie Johnson
Hi Jamie, welcome! The charts are actually all free! You can find them at www.emilyillustrator.com/downloads
Hi Emily. What’s your pressure level for using the blender?
This week I bought my first set of 60 polychromos. I like them but I'm not so impressed I thought I would be. For me they are like my Castle Arts or Arteza. Currently I try to figure out what makes them better so your tips are very welcome.
I can totally see that. I agree, that they are somewhat similar to Artezas. It could be a good affordable alternative!
@@EmilyIllustrator The reason why I finally bought them is that they are open stock and easier to buy in germany. Some of my budget pencils are getting shorter and shorter and I don't want to buy a new set just for a few pencils.
Best video I've seen. I'm not a poly fan but you have made me want to give them another go. If you try and use them like a prima is it successful?
If you try to use them like prismas, you may find yourself frustrated with the results. I mean, for me, I was and I stepped away from polys for a long time.
What paper do you use with these pencils. So pretty ❤️

Awesome! I'm so glad Amanda! I like to use the Dahle 133 sharpener: amzn.to/3EQY3xD
Can you use faber castell Pitt brush pen with polychromos pencils?
Do you mean the pen as a base with pencil on top?
@@EmilyIllustrator yes pen as a base
What is your favorite paper to use with colored pencils for downloadable PDF pictures?
The Neenah is my favorite to print on: amzn.to/309cY7K
